For one thing, seeing their studios of the day - where entire (sub)genre(s) emerged - most of them re in unturned rooms for one (it looks that way at least) so, their set-ups are deeply relatable ; they are not that much more advanced than the average (and of course not-so-average) modern bedroom producers' set up! THAT in it self shows every one of us of the potential to still create magic within our personal gear/and skill level limitations I learned at first, through necessity, how to do with what I had/have at the time. And honestly, I wouldn't have the 1st year any other way, in fact I totally recommend it. You get a chance to learn every single thing in your ,and in my case, free , and highly limited program(s)

Dupstep /Grime /Bassline etc comes from Garage, Garage comes from House, hence 'House and Garage' term used in its early days. Chicago started it. The UK embraced it and made it our own!
@vortexalerand9949
@vortexalerand9949 2 года назад
Don't forget olskool hardcore, Chicago's influence can't failrly be held as the preeminent influence to it's (garage/dubstep's) dance/electro roots *Dancehall also, with its dominant percussion being drum machine based + vocal samples used in British music 1990s onward.

If anyone still even cares, he's using Logic 5 with FL Studio as a plugin.I Still use Logic 5 myself and FL Studio in the same manner. Great way to use plugins with Logic PC that won't run in the program natively. I wish someone would hack this version of Logic to remove the 1GB memory limit. Maybe add delay compensation. Still the best.
@ElFudgeMusic

Yeah I got a bit confused. Pretty interesting to use FL as a plugin so you can use VST's like Harmor etc. to make patches.

lol, people should quit saying that if you use FL you're a weak producer, truth is, FL has one of the best step sequencers on any software, period. Although, the playlist and automation choices aren't as good as most other DAWs, but that's why using more than 1 DAW is a good thing. For me it's FL to make the patterns, and Ableton to put them all together. Everyone has their own way to produce tracks, respect them.

I'd say DnB, garage, dub step, future house, deep house can all be grouped under UK Bass. House, trance, brostep can't really be classed as UK Bass because they focus more on mids and highs. It's a bit more specific than just calling everything EDM.
@datfiendishthing

Dub is definitely part of where it came from (kick on 1, snare on 3, heavy emphasis on bass), but yeah, the actual electro side is heavily rooted in 2step garage music, probably more so than Dub. Dub + 2step = Dubstep.

I was going to point out something until i got sucked into the negativity that exist in most of these videos.. What I was going to say is that it very interesting to hear some of these guys' theories on producing EDM. They seem to all have different theories to end up with what they are attempting to do. I dig these videos, although I'm mostly into the Deeper House music,Tech House, and Techno. But nonetheless, I learn quite a bit as I go along. Blessings and Good Health 2 all, IN EVERY COUNTRY

It doesn't matter what software or hardware you have. If you have the 'Know how' and something as small as a 2 octave MIDI, you can make a pretty decent track give or take how patient you are with using your cursor and clicking on VST nobs.. Etc lol. I personally prefer Ableton because that's what I started on and my current set up is a keyboard, an Alesis Q-25, a MPD-26, and a MPK-49 and I'm perfectly content with it all.

why does he render the loops in FL as audio? why doesn't he just rewire the two sequencers and use FL as an audio channel in logic? is it because it's easier 2 bounce down the audio?

Yes. And still most Americans know shit about it. It wasn't created in Chicago as a nationwide craze, but as a local scene. It's like the US created rock n' roll, but needed the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zepellin, Cream etc to appreciate it properly again.
