Mamata Banerjee’s repeated electoral victories, despite significant challenges such as the Nano controversy in 2010, chit fund scams in 2011, Narada scam in 2016, defections in 2021, and scandals involving school teacher recruitment, ration distribution, cattle smuggling, coal theft, and the Sandeshkhali incidents in 2024 remain truly enigmatic. Mamata Banerjee’s success, despite the numerous challenges and scandals, cannot be explained by her cantankerous and impatient opposition.They are still confounded, puzzled and addled in the muddy pages of crime and corruption stories.
