Ciao dolcissima mamma!!😥😥😥😥
Ti capisco bene. Stessa cosa capitata a me. Adesso succede a me… Ti abbraccio forte
My father lived with Beniamino Gigli in his Villa in Rome during Word War II. My dad (South African) recorded many of his songs, sad to say, I only have some WWII diaries and not even the photo Gigli signed 'Cordially Yours' to my father!!! Sad about that!!
The thought of living so close to someone so amazing is a blessing in itself, I can picture listening to that beautiful voice when he wanted to sing to himself. 🎶🎶🎶🎶.
@@mimiaguilar4759 I wish I could answer in Spanish, I can say only few words, I can read it but not. But if you use Google translate and copy and paste the Italian words you can read it in your language
Sim o melhor!!!

This beautiful song is from the Italian movie Mamma (1941), starring Emma Gramatica, Carola Höhn and Beniamino Gigli, and directed by Guido Brignone. Thanks for publishing this wonderful song. Greetings from Egypt.
This is how Mama should be sung. Full of beautiful phrasing and brilliant nuances. Gigli is my second favorite tenor. Brava A++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The favorite song of my favorite Saint, Saint Padre Pio. God bless you all and thank you-salamat to all the great Saints, Archangels, Holy Priests and clergy.
I'm Irish and I didn't know anything about this singer until this morning, there is a Padre Pio utube chanel and it has an amazing story of the first time this singer met with Padre Pio. That's what brought me to this video. The RU-vid channel is called following Padre Pio. 🙏
A one-of-a-kind tenor who was simply outstanding… ⭐️💖⭐️ Gigli himself loved this song so much, and it‘s easy to perceive all the love and emotion he put into every note and every word…! Thank you so much for sharing this rare rendition! 🙏🍀 Btw, the movie’s title is also „Mamma“.
From the 1941 film "Mamma", it was filmed at the Cinecittà Studios, Rome, Italy. The outdoor scenes shown in the above clip was stock & staged film taken aboard the 1931 built, 48,502 grt express Italian passenger liner "Conte Di Savoia", during her prime. After the ship made her last commercial voyage she was laid up in June 1940 near Venice until 1943. Afterwards became a Italian troopship. She was sunk in shallow water at Venice by British bombers on September 11, 1943, re-floated on October 16, 1945, sold and scrapped at Monfalcone in 1950.
Hi Rina (Cole) what a co-incidence! My Dad also met him during his time with the sixth div in Rome. I watched him do a performance at our Alhambra Theatre in Cape Town (1952 only five years before his passing) He kindly arranged for me to watch his 2nd show the following night from the wings! AND HE SANG MAMMA SPECIALLY FOR ME! This clip therefore brought tears to my 86 year-old eyes!!
+Bob Martin WHAT A LUCKY PERSON WE ALL ARE TO HEAR THIS TESTIMONY OF YOURS MY MOST SINCERE CONGRATS AND BEST WISHES . I'M HISPANIC FROM MEXICO IN MY LATE 30'S BUT I HAVE ALREADY STARTED TO LOVE THE BELCANTO REPRESANTATIVES SPEACIALLY THE FAMOUS ONES AND CERTAINLY WOULD LOVE TO MET SOME OF THEM AS WELL AS YOU DID. ITS A SHAME FOR ME THAT I HAD STATERD TO LATE .. BUT NEVER IS TOO LATE .. I CERTAINLY ENVY YOU FOR HAVING SUCH A BIG CHANCE AND NICE MEMORY...
+Raul Lopez Hi Raul, my daughter is visiting Mexico from Texas at this very moment! Thank you 'Graciouso' for your kind words! yes, this recording is exactly as I remembered him! Only with my experience he was accompanied but just a pianist! ciao, Bob
I listened to the conversation between the man chasing a married woman. I loved her response to his flirting and trying to dissuade her from loving and admiring her husband. I would love to watch this movie.
The video is taken from the film “Mamma” directed by Guido Brignone in 1940/41. The song was written in 1939 by Cesare Andrea Bixio da Bixio Cherubini. The Tenor is Beniamino Gigli, the first to have sung it.
GIGLI WAS ONE OF THE TENORS WHO TRULY WORRI3D ABOUT HIS TONES EVEN ON HIGH NOTES. A GREAT TENOR. LOVE HIS SINGING EVEN THOUGH THE RECORDINGS ARE NOT THE BEST FOR THAT TIME. I BELEIVE THEY RE RECORDED TO REMOVE ALL NOISE FROM THE RECORDINGS THANK GOD. BRAVO GIGLI BRAVO
Pardon me, but the 2nd series, made some errors of the translation in the comment section, but it doesn't take away from the heart of this song in tribute to "mother". I grew up with the song, sung by Gigli, Butti, Villa, Tajoli, and many others, including Connie Francis and Jerry Vale.
My Mother took me to see this movie when I was a little boy. Think it was the Dante movie theater in South Philly. Remember tears running down her face. Her mother died when my mother was 8 years old -- the flu epidemic of 1918. Seventy-five years later I still remember and now this song brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for posting it.
@@tonybajjaly9002 I’m sorry Tony, but I searched for it on the web an none credited to the movie. Obviously, it was an Italian movie. Oh, how I wish I could have that day back.
Mindig csodáltam a hangját!
