Quail are some tough tough birds. I've hit them with a solid shot and they still sometimes land and run into a hole. Doves on the other hand are very easy to take down. If you are eating them, more power to ya brother cuz it is a lot better than getting what they are selling in the grocery stores. God bless bro.
