Part of ABBA’s charm is their modesty - they don’t brag about themselves, they aren’t ostentatious with their wealth and always come cross as very down to earth. They all have a gentle charm which many celebrities could learn from. I still listen to ABBA 40 years after seeing them in concert and the joy their mixes brings to me is undiminished.
That's a ridiculous estimation of his own worth as a composer. If I take a sledgehammer to ABBA's legacy and only pick out the absolute top of the cream-filled biscuit, I still count at least 27 or so utter masterpieces that transcend what any popular musicians have achieved, both in melody and performance/recording. But those are only the songs that I couldn't live without. If we rate all their songs on a 5 star scale, the number of 5 star songs would be about 80% of their entire output.
@@boubi9329 I am very fond of the musical Kristina från Duvemåla. »Nej«, »Vi Öppnar alla grindar«, »Löss«, »Min Astrakan«, and »Hemma« are among my favorites. There is a fantastic version of the song »Du måste finnas« at m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a2idVI73ais.html
I got chills while listening to him playing his masterpiece. My God how very modest he is.So sweet and laid back.I think he must also be an adorable grandpa for his grandchildren.
I felt in love with The Winner Takes it All when I was a toddler. It has some secret magic that other ABBA songs did not. All are great, but this is The Song. Masterpiece, the shiniest brilliant in a crown called ABBA! Tnx Bjorn for writing this Masterpiece 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Benny - think you're too modest as ABBA did many excellent songs and are as good as The Beatles, as your music still stands up today and will do so for many many years to come!
Yeah, all of the ABBA members were known for being perfectionists, re-recording vocals over and over again till they were content. But they also have a well known reputation for humbleness. Many would say it's overly humble but that's the way it is. Maybe he's referring to every aspect of the songs, the melody, the lyrics, the arrangement, the vocals and final mix. There were obviously way more than that number that were tremendous songs but to his critical ear, a select few stood out where everything was absolutely spot on. He has also claimed 'Knowing Me Knowing You' as one of their best recordings. 'Dancing Queen' must be another. I'd guess a few of their later recordings, even ones that were not so commercially successful would be amongst those 15 as Bjorn's lyrics got ever better and the production improving with each album.
Benny darling, virtually ALL your songs are masterpieces !!! Gimme, Gimme, Gimme is my favourite if I'm pushed to have one but god it's so hard to chose.
I think he should have added a zero to that number. Benny and Bjorn wrote such high quality songs that will always stand the test of time. All their wonderful chord progressions are sublime.
I must have listened to this track a million times. Every single time I get goosebumps Still....The expression in Agnetha's voice is so moving that even after all these years, it's like listening for the first time.
Now I need to listen to it, thnx! That's a thing that's awesome with ABBA. You thing you remember all the Good ones. Then someone mentions that other one that you forgot about. And the someone mentions another one. And another one!
. Gracias por la música
Dear Benny I agree with you "the winner tackes it all" is perhaps the best song you have written. But I disagree when you say that you have done 10-15 good songs, you have done at least 50 masterpieces and another 50 good songs. You are too modest! And anyway this does you honor. Thank you for the music, thank you for existing you and the other members of ABBA
10 or 15? I genuinely think Benny is oblivious to what he has written and produced (or co-written and produced) with ABBA and his bands and all the rest of it. Personally, I think there are only two or three bad ABBA songs. *Man In The Middle* (which has its fans), *King Kong Song* and *Watch Out.* All the rest offer something special, with some more (and much more) than others. Please don't underestimate songs like *You Owe Me One* and *Dum Dum Diddle* - they offer something unique and special.
King Kong song is one of the best. I'll agree with the other 2 though along with I saw it in a mirror, and Disillusion (Sorry Agnetha), My mamma said, Tropical Loveland, and Hey hey Hellen. And they aren't bad, just weaker then the rest.
Some are best, many are very great, some are worse... But I don't know any bad ABBA songs. Each of them are interesting and I enjoy them for more than 20 years.
from a musician's point of view - the idea of what is good is different to what an audience perceives as good so I get where he is coming from ...even though I love pretty much all of them
