Awww, I didn't realize Benny was in senior living. That was so wonderful that he was receiving all that mail. He was and still is loved. Into The Night has always been one of my favorite songs. He put so much passion into his music. Back in the day, when MTV and VH1 played the videos, I would run in to watch Benny sing. He was so gorgeous. Miss you Benny.
The first time I heard this song, my boyfriend and I were at the homecoming dance at our school. He was 15 and I was 13. He whispered in my ear that he loved me and was going to marry me….44 yrs later, we are still together and will celebrate our 39th anniversary this year…. And I am proud to say, when my daughter married in 2019, this was the song she and my son in law danced to as their first dance as husband and wife.❤️
@@Chatlore2024 Some people are just jealous because they will NEVER have a relationship like mine. So they must leave very sad, very pathetic comments. 🤡
Interestingly enough, even while I WAS a teen in the 80s, I knew it was special. I recall being really grateful I was coming of age in the 80s and not before or after (even tho obviously I couldn't see into the future! lol.) And I was right. The vibe of the decade, the music, the toys, even some of the hair & clothing styles, and other societal aspects have either endured, or they are longed for. In a way that other decades cannot precisely claim... Man it was so awesome.
@@sakitoby1581I agree with you. I was also young in the 80s and I never really thought about it or realized how great that era was. Your words are so true!😊
@@JamieJoIacobucci I'm not sure why I was cognizant of the special aspect of thec80s but I just know that I was. So many great memories!! I just wish I would have saved some of the cute clothes & accessories!
That soooonnnggg ! Man, he was so talented. It makes my heart sink. I was 20 in 1980. a child in the 60's, a teen in the70's and in my 20's in the 80's. No cell phones, hardly any internet that I can remember back then, regular 30 minute tv shows, so you run and do chores during the commercials, and not recorded, so ppl would stay home for certain shows. One phone in the kitchen, no privacy, every one knew what was going on w ea other cause we also all ate dinner together that my mom made! Wow, lol. Those days are over, kind of sad now that I think back about things won't be the same again.
They were such wholesome times with a warmth and an energy that made the days and nights so much fun and I miss those days so badly when I look at the world we have now, I'm 53 and I feel lost in the modern world.
@@adamweston4152 yes adam. today i said a nice hello to a walmart employee in the petfood aisle. he made no eye contact and had no verbal reply. He was in front of items I needed and didnt move out of my way or offer to help. I said excuse me while I reached for what I needed. I also said thank you and have a good day. no responce or eye contact again. he also had wire earplugs in and was looking at and fingering his cell ph the entire time. wasnt stocking, even though he had items to stock. oh well, so much for that. i live alone, so these small interactions are some of the only human contact that can occur in a day. but its his problem not mine. its just sad that it happens a lot these days. So, ... I hope that You truly do have a great day. 😀
@@barbrice721 theyll be fine. its us older ppl who are in shock because everyone use to be so free and open with smiles, greetings and small talk in the 70s & 80s. now clerks in stores dont acknowledge us. drs visits are 5 min after waiting an hr. I like watching older movies from before there were cell ph & computers, lol. Like Columbo. brings back memories.
Assolutamente d'accordo con te!! Anni 80..i migliori di tutti!! Libertà, lavoro, giovinezza...🤔😭😭il top di sempre!! Alla faccia di tutto...un periodo fantastico!!
Nowadays a grown man would be crucified for dating a 16 yr old girl. I was a 19 yr old college student in 1980 when I met my future wife at 16 years old. She died from cancer 8 yrs ago but I have a beautiful daughter and 3 grandchildren to remind me of her. This song makes me cry missing her.
love is not about a number, but we know how things are! Sorry for your loss, your daughter, grand kids enjoy! Ok to cry shows you have a heart! Take care. Beautiful song!
Boomer here. The 70's were the best for me. I was young enough to be at home with a great dad and family then I graduated in 1980 with a lot of great life experiences...I'd go back. Do it all over again..
yes, the things that were, when people were considerate, thoughtful, respectful, caring, and not self-centred. When life was fun and people were fun, we were not subjected to filth on our TV screens with potty language. The cost of living was fair to our paypacket. People spoke to each other and took the time to write a letter to someone or picked up the home phone to say hello, how are you. When you would go next door to see your neighbour and sit and have a coffee and a chat. Yes, the things that were that as a lucky generation we experienced those wonderful times, and I have no doubt, you miss them as much as I do.
@MaryBeth1965 ... well, I don't know what America was like, but certainly in Australia it was different. I know things were not perfect, but people were certainly better than what they are today.
I met my husband when we were 16, our parents told us that we couldn't know what love is. We have been married for over 45 years and together for 47 years altogether! I am so sorry for the loss of your Love! Hugs
The summer of ‘80 . . . my best friend Shannon and I spent the summer working in his dad’s body shop, building and installing engines in the hot cars his dad built and painted. We were both 15 then. We got to drive all those cars and trucks all summer, often picking up my girlfriend Gina, sipping beers and toking an occasional joint, while this played on the radio about every 1/2 hour. We all moved on after that. Gina moved to another state, Shannon’s life was tragically ended by a drunk driver in’85. I’m 60 now, but any time I hear this song, it takes me back to that summer. A summer I’ll never forget.
Woah. That’s a sad story with great memories. So sorry for the lost of your best friend. God bless sir. I was only 2 years old that year. But I can tell you. The 1980’s was one of the best times to grow up in. I sure do miss those days. I remember most of the 1980’s very very well.
Similar my best friend nick and I did everything together ( very similar). Nick would always joke he was going to get on a banana boat one day and go to Australia. By the end of the summer he disappeared no one heard from him in a year. We all joked we’ll get a postcard. I woke up from a night of partying read the newspaper and some hunters had found a gun and human bones in the woods. Turned out nick never got on that boat but had committed suicide. He never told me about all his inner demons, I wish he had. I’m still living life for the both of us, great guy, great memories and I think of him often.
Ahhh, the spring summer fall of 1980! 99¢ a gallon gasoline, 80¢ Big Macs, whopper and jumbo jacks. Reagan beats Carter in a landslide. And this mega hit brand new all over the radio, boomboxes, cassettes, 45's and 33's. A much different country, different people, different era, different styles, different values, different music, different time different everything never to return again. Glad i lived it like 10's of millions of Americans alive then and now.
Damn 99c.. where did you live? It was 62c in Texas. I didn't pay 99 for anything untill 92 and that was diesel. Taxes caused everything to go up. And gas was cheaper.
Guilty ✋🏼. I was 16 when it came out and crazy in love with my HS sweetheart. The long run was not in the cards for us but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. Never loved so strong since and never will again. It was intoxicating and almost disorienting. An amazing feeling ❤
In 1980, I was 28. I got married 1 day after graduation( 1968 ) 16 years old. Went to Vietnam 1 month later. Retired after after 42 years of service. I still remember this song. It helped create my daughter. Fck I'm old
Wow! Thank you for your service. Everytime I hear a nostalgic song, I can tell you exactly where I was in my heart, head, spirit, geography, endeavors. Takes me back.
@Nicole...I can't imagine your situation. I've been married for over 50 years, children and grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Each one is special to me. I wish you happiness.
@@dwRS1 I am a victim of a narcissist Mother who just put me down after I cleaned her up. Women who are cunning, get married. Women who are vulnerable and have jealous mothers don't.
I remember it well on the radio back in the day. We all thought he was black when we first heard it. Classic even though it only went to #11. I'm about to turn 60 here. WOKI Knoxville was the best station in those days.
I got married in ‘82 and I loved this song to this day. I used to dream about someone taking me away and then I met my husband-to-be in late ‘79. He just took me away and 42 years later here we are.😊
I was 16 years old when this came out. My then boyfriend , who became my husband, always dedicated this to me. More than 40 years later, it still gives me the chills, the romantic ones ❤❤❤
This is the most passionate vocal experience ever! The song shook me all those years ago when I first heard it . . . and still does . . . every . . . time. ❤
I think of this song as 2 teenagers in love & of course, the parents of the girl are protective. But teenage love is magical, blinding, mesmerizing…..nothing stops them. I know, I was a teen, once😘
You might be interested in The Professor of Rock's interview with Benny, covering the origin of the song and that often misinterpreted first line. Benny was one of the true sweethearts of the music industry and it's a great interview.✌️
This was my favorite song. My girlfriend was 16 when I was 18. Man......at that age you DO know what romantic love is. That man is one of the most underrated vocalists ever.
Very grateful to the Professor of Rock's interview with Benny to clarify the lyrics. It's a beautiful story of one man's concern for a vulnerable family.
Rest in eternal peace mamá ❤Gloria!! My mom loved this song !! I still have the cassette !! She used to play it all the time in her Mazda RX 7! I was in 6th grade I believe!! I’ll never forget it! ❤I think that was the late 80’s, early 90’s !! I’m now 45 & it’s 2024 !! ❤
One hit wonder, but one of the most beautiful one hit wonders ever. I fell in love with this song when I was a junior in high school and Knew I was in love with the college sophomore next door. It became OUR song. She actually gave me a chance and even stayed with me after joining the Navy....for 26 years. Three beautiful children. R and IP Benny, and thank you.
I was 14 in 1980. I basically grew up in the Best Era! My kids wish they had what we had. My 17 year old tells me he wishes so badly he was a part of those times. 💯
My future husband and I were roller skating and he said I’m going to marry you.. I was 16 and he was 18 and here we are 47 years later and he is still by boyfriend. I thank God for this gift.
This is such a beautiful song. Benny's voice was amazing. He sings with so much passion. He will be missed with his amazing talent. FLY HIGH BENNY 😇😇😇. MASTERPIECE 💜💜💜
I was 20 yrs old & a waitress at an all night diner when this came out. I drove everybody CRAZY bcz I played it REPEATEDLY on the jukebox ALL NIGHT LONG!!! LOVE IT!! 💚☮️🧡
I was just talking to one of my daughters about meeting her dad when I was 15. I'm 56 now, and 7 children and 10 grandchildren later, we're still in love. When is right, it's right forever.
In the 1980's I was a teenager and all our music then had real meaningful meaning behind their music. That's the best music back then. They just don't have music like they did in the 1980's and 1990's. I sure miss those days and years.
I had just started dating a 16 year old runaway who had shown up at our band practice .. it hadn’t quite become ‘a thing’ yet and I learned she had been graped by a roofer working on the house/apt she and some other runaways were living … I had felt I was falling in love with her (I was 17 or 18) but the police had intervened and she was taken in by a foster family and moved somewhere .. I felt pain for it not going anywhere but was also happy for her that she had gotten a safe place to live .. this song always reminded me of her
Kids today have no clue what REAL music is. I was born in the 70s and grew up through the 80s and graduated from high school in early 90s and in all honesty I prefer the older more classic music over the newer music. Its real and its raw which is why I love it so. Don't get me wrong I do listen to the newer stuff too because music is my first love but my go to is 60s, 70s and the 80s. I'm really proud to be Gen X because I know what real muscle cars and real music is so I'm blessed in this and I feel sad to know Gen Z has no real clue unless their parents taught them right and educated them in real Music and Muscle Cars. I'd give anything for music to go back to the 80s style and even some of the fashion but I wouldn't want to be a teenager all over again unless I could go back with what I know now, then maybe lol.
@@Virgolove That is cool, my parent's made sure I knew 60's, 70's and well I grew up through the 80's and graduated in early 90's and I still listen to newer things but my go to is the 60's, 70's and 80's, its a hard must for me even experimenting with the newer genres.
Benny Mardones has 1 of the sexiest male voices of all times. I was just starting college. I absolutely went crazy every time this song played on the radio. Still one of my favorite 80's songs (CD's) today. Thanks Benny❗🧡👏🙏
Another greatest musician of the 80’s era. The 80’s was the greatest decade for the greatest then and now and will last as long as it can. I was lucky to enjoy the 80’s music and all the bands that has lasted and still going on and it seems the more they sing their songs from the 80’s song more they get popular all over again.
The 80's was the greatest music. I am also happy to enjoy that time when I was a teenager. Now I am 55 years old and I keep listening to that kind of romantic songs here in Buenos Aires Argentina helping me to avoid hard times ❤
The 80's were great, driving out to the lake at night passing fields that had just been cut and you can smell them, stars out, cooler full of beer, just you and your girlfriend for a little bonfire, you got your huge jam box on the tailgate with your case of cassettes. Man this sucks being this far away from those years. We had our summer days and now we know those were the best times of our lives
