I've used cheap BenQ monitors in commercial applications for years. Utterly reliable. Thin bezels are overrated. Very few monitors don't have shiny plastic somewhere, usually black.

Please stop complaining about the size and depth of monitor bezels. Monitor manufacturers actually listen to your gibberish and start making panels with gimped technical specs to satisfy people who want a 'thin and light' monitor.

Bezelless monitors are made for the purpose of multi monitor setup, one of the reasons why super wide monitors exist is because it's better to have one very wide monitor than several,as it is practically impossible to make a 100% bezel-free screen. Also, I hate both. Just like I hate RGB.

@Jurgen D I have a 25" 2560x1440, and the DPI is quite high for a desktop monitor, but your 32" with 4K is even higher, and I would not want it that high, so I'd never go smaller than 43" for 4K. It took some time to get used to my DPI now going from 24" and 32" with 1080p, and I think even smaller pixels would be too small as I do not want to use scaling of any kind. Do you use scaling? I guess now if you program on it.

@Alexander Rex Evensen 43" at 4k is too large for a desk environment imo. I've tried it and it can be headache inducing as well as you actually have to move your head around quite a bit to multitask. I spend 90% of my work day in multiple terminal windows and 32" 4k is perfect for that use with no scaling for that use on my linux workstation. I also game on a 32" 4k panel and my gaming rig is running windows without scaling as well and that's perfectly usable. It's not really much more dense than a 27" 1440p display and less dense than a 1080p 15" class laptop display. When comparing to my 15" MBPr work laptop (Set to 1920x1200 so its actually usable for work) the same content on the 32" 4K panel is noticeably larger/easier to read.

Have had mine since 2 years now, from ps4 pro to ps5, it’s still going strong. It does have low color compared to a IPS but remember this is a gaming Monitor, looks crisp and clear on any game. Also 60hz isn’t too bad especially on ps5 when it’s consistent compared to ps4 pro.

No shame in big bezels. It is this flush and slim bezels that ruined monitors backlight. Now it is more uneven and bleeding more than ever because there is no BACKLIGHT anymore. For years now, it's just a LED strip at the bottom

The current requirement for slim and flush bezels in a normal LCD monitor caused the need to switch to 1 side bottom LED backlight. The whole backlight of the monitor is coming from the LED strip on the bottom. Aside from that, there is much less space on the sides to easily stock and attach all LCD layers, so the lighting is uneven and often leaks on sides or corners where LCD layers are coming apart for whatever reason

finally just had mine delivered, when I play fifa20 and run it pass the ball the person i’m passing to around the triangle above their head and body will have like a white silhouette in the directions opposite to way he’s running or receive the ball, i’m on xbox one is the screen tearing or input lag? what settings should I use?

Something ive noticed with this monitor is that HDR mode in windows really sucks. however when you play HDR content or a game supports HDR the picture quality does improve alot and is really good but you have to enable HDR in the game menu. but with games that doesnt support HDR and enabling HDR emulated is not that good.

I was able to buy a 32" 4K monitor (LG 32UD59-B) for $370 precisely because they DIDN'T include HDR. And that's a good thing, because it's a great panel otherwise and it kept the cost down.

Does anybody actually care about thin-bezel and screens that are not set back a little behind the bezel? I honestly prefer it that way, otherwise the risk of touching the monitor everytime I turn it on or off. But even without that, I care far more about backlight bleed and such than having a super-thin bezel that's level with the screen.

I'm currently using 2 x Dell U2311H (I did have 3 of them, but the cap leaked on one and needs repairing). The bezel on this BenQ looks similar to the Dell - I can't see it being a problem, tbh. For the price, it's to be expected.

I don't get the hate against 300 nits HDR Monitors. True, it's not really an HDR experience, but at least the monitor supports it. SDR Monitors might go as high as 400 Nits brightness, but it can only receive a SDR signal, so the brightness is just spread out, which leads to banding artifacts. So at least this monitor can recieve the wide color and brightness spectrum and use 300 nits of it.

Real HDR = IPS or VA Panel, Extra Wide Color Gambit, 10 Bit, 1000 Nits peak brightness, and Local Dimming. It has to have local dimming to get the MOST out of the HDR.

i got mine but planing to send it back i think. it is now managerble with changing setting in the osd but defo the company with amazon lied in the description about the HDR since on my Windows10 in settings it had No HDR options button at all. tho my laptop dose have it for its own screen. thanks for the video its a good clear video i hope others see this vid as its really good and more companys need to be called out for crating fake descriptions and junk

so basically it's just like how they are marketting TVs.... where they put HDR in many 4K TVs... but less than a fraction of them actually can produce image quality that would qualify for HDR. sigh, i already expected this... and i am being extra careful of any claim of HDR, but it is none the less still quite disappointing.

I am not sure what you are implying there, but either way... as the user, you need a display (whether it be a monitor or a TV) capable of actually producing HDR grade image at the end of the day to actually see the result. Whether the HDR content is from games with engine that supports HDR or from movies... frankly is of little concern, because more content with HDR will come... no amount of HDR implementation in graphics engine matters if your display don't even have the capability to properly display HDR, and the display (tv or monitor) is not something you probably gonna be buying every year... so it's critical as a consumer that we make our purchase worth the cost. Which is why this kind of review is a god send...

Iono Sama , i mean high dynamic range lighting going back to games like half life 2. did u ever play the Lost Coast Mission that came with HalfLife 2 showing off the "HDR" lighting the game engine could produce? That is what I meant. I should have clarified it I guess. Obviously back then there were no HDR tv's or monitors so I am talking about the HDR lighting a graphics engine would produce. I find that a lot more impressive when done correctly. I find some games recently go way overboard with this type of lighting but man when it is done correctly it is really impressive. That is all I meant though. Again, I should have clarified more. BTW, thanks for the explanation. I personally though do not care for the HDR feature on tv,s . Im not trying to bash the tech, it is just not for me plain and simple.

Being 4 years later, and ignoring the HDR thing, is this monitor worth it in general? I am seeing this monitor online as "second-chance" (meaning, it was returned) for 219 EUR (212 USD/325 AUD). As new I see a price of 299 EUR (290 USD/443AUD), too much, imo.

Personally I always laugh at bezel arguments. When it comes down to it the ONLY point at all (and it's not even a good one) to thin bezels was people wanting to run multi monitor setup. Nowadays though there are solid ultrawide display options available or even super ultrawides for workloads. I as well as many others are quite tired of forced thin bezel displays that neuter the actual quality of the display just to attempt to satisfy a microscopic niche crowd that already have alternative, if not superior, solutions available to what they want. I for one would openly welcome a display that's actually top end quality, doesn't gimp anything and by all means make the bezel as large as it needs to be to accomplish that and you will hear no complaints from myself and anyone else who has a functioning brain.

A year on I’m reviewing this monitor and my experience has been much, MUCH better. Input lag is as good as any zero lag display (8ms measuring the middle square with a Leo bodnar) and this is with either 4K OR 1080p which I was impressed to see. My eye tells me this display is one of the best I’ve seen at 60Hz. The ‘high’ setting results in the faintest amount of ghosting with none of the smearing/blur I see with even ‘gaming’ grade IPS/VA panels. Could BenQ have improved this model since initial release?

The image looks identical to the ew3270u which cost and extra $200 more. It might not be “the real hdr,” but it is 10 bit monitor so the colours are pretty good especially for what you’re paying for. If you want an out of this world image get a $1,500 monitor that looks a bit better with “real hdr.” This monitor’s hdr does increase contrast and brightness, don’t know what you are talking about.

I have one of the older BenQEsport XL series, and to hear that this monitor is inferior in quality is very disappointing. Shame that half descent gaming monitors need to be incredibly expensive. Think I will look at Dell as their IPS panels are very accurate, just wanted to upgrade to a wider display with descent response times.

Low blue light mode is nice if you are in a dark room and just reading or studying, or gaming for a long period of time. It just keeps you from going blind from a white screen.

Pretty ironic for benQ since they are well known for their back light yellow phosphor degrading to the point the back light becomes pure blue after 6 months. Absolute garbage brand, up there in shitness with veiwsonic.

@@3800S1 I have a BL2420pt, so far I like it and haven't seen that effect after 1 year of owning it. I have a view sonic and yes I agree with you on that aspect. I just hope my monitor doesn't lose its color any time soon.

Yea, 1080p IPS 144hz would be great too. I own at GTX1080ti I got for $450 so that's why I'm interested in 1440p right now.

In this price range you're not getting great HDR to begin with and the specification is not even wrong. Even a little game like Half Life 2 had a HDR setting back in the day.
