I've got the PGP28A (the aluminium version). Almost identical except for the monopod system. - there is no extension for the monopod attachement. The monopod screws directly to the center column. - also no strap for the monopod.

I guess what you call an adapter might also serve as a short center column. Try to screw the center column on the removable leg, you'll might get an even higher monopod.

Someone already ask this question but unfortunately you can't. You can push the centre column up to the point where you can use it horizontally. But it's not possible to push through fully this is how it's constructed. So you can't attach anything else instead of the original centre column.

Hi Marcell, I am thinking to buy FGP28A (Aluminium) since both are the same design and functionality except material used. My concern is, is it sturdy enough to hold Nikon Z6ii + 24-70MM lense in horizontal setup?. For the horizontal setup, I observe that the weight of the camera will not be in the centre of the tripod. Hope it should not damage the tripod mount / convertible locking system. Any kind of information if you share is really helpful to decide. Thanks Shahi

That was a very detail review of the tripod and its uses, thanks for that. The small adapter which is given for the monopod, can it be used instead of the center column in the tripod ?

Good question but unfortunately you can't. You can push the centre column up to the point where you can use it horizontally. But it's not possible to push through fully this is how it's constructed.

I know this video is 3 years past but I too am a Benro user. have you looked at the new Benro Theta and Theta max "smart" Tripods yet? If so, what are your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

No, I haven't. Half a year ago I made a decision to step away from Benro. I upgraded from this tripod to their Tortoise lineup. I had two of them but unfortunately both had problems. One with the legs the other with the ball head. Hence I decided I wasn't going to buy my next one from them.

Thanks for such a great review Marcell. Do you think this tripod would be suitable for use in a busy city or would you suggest the slightly caller 18C version? I’d prefer to have the greater height and stability of the 28C if possible but am slightly concerned it might be a little cumbersome. Thanks again.

It all depends on how much weight you want to put on the tripod. I always like my tripod as solid as possible. But if you need smaller footprint and you don't want to put heavy gear on it you're going to be fine with something smaller.

Does this monopod adopter can be attached to the main tripod after removing the centre column .. for low angle eye level shot... ? ( Like TMA27C has)

See my previous comments. It can't be used. The centre column cannot be removed. But for low level shots you can turn the centre column 180° pointing down. That allows you to go down to ground level.

Nice and informative review. But i am confused with so many models with mouthful long names. Is this model same as Benro Travel Angel 2 Series Carbon Fiber Tripod (FTA28CC).

Thanks. No the FTA28CC is different, its centre column can only be used in vertical position. FGP28C has the versitile centre column option which can be used at basically any kind of angle.

How big is the tripod with the head without the column raised and the monopod with the head?

Hi, actually it's in the video, without the column raised it's 135.5cm. So you just have to add the height of your head to that. Unfortunately I don't know the height of the monopod.

Hello. I would like to ask users about how the tripods with the central column rotated 360 degrees work in practice. Examples of such tripods are Benro FGP 18A, FGP 28A. I am afraid that the central column rotation mechanism can quickly develop and looser will appear. I would like to know how it looks in practice to set the camera on such an extended column - are there any problems with instability, micro-shocks that can interfere with getting good focus during macro shooting?

My experience that this solution is very stable. I used my Sony a7ii + Sigma 400/5.6 combo (cca 2kgs) on the predecessor (Benro a2970) which have the same mechanism. I have never had any issue with vibration. Of course the secret is to position the combo as close to the centre as possible.
