@@lisagitelMid-September 2023 - prior winter had dropped epic amounts of snow - even in September, had to navigate a snow field heading up to Mule Pass and snow along the top of Burro Pass; otherwise, no snow issues. Also, more comfortable hiking temperatures. Shorter days - I didn’t get any 5:30a starts - did the loop in five days. Overall, it was a fantastic hike 👍
This is a lovely video! I’m headed up there with two friends in September, and after seeing this, I can’t wait to go! It was fun to see your glee over the chocolate bar! I’ll make sure to pack plenty of sweet treats as well as salty.
Thanks! We're heading up tomorrow to do the Tilden/Dorthy Lake Loop from Robinson TH. Mosquitos look like they were around but not completely nuts. Is that right/?
@wellseasonedhiker yes, mosquitoes were usually around but never apocalyptic. Worst in meadows and near water. Best to keep moving - they were definitely worse when I was stopped. Treated clothes with permethrin. Never used deet or other bug spray. Used a head net as needed in camp.
@randyreinhart7871 It was a heat wave, so hotter than usual. Probably 50s at night to 90s during the day at lower elevations (which ranged from mid 7k' to low 11k').
