I enjoy those jobs. Might be dirty and heavy work but I do like it nonetheless. Hope my health holds out for a while longer yet...All the best with yours.. :-)
Hi Harold. It has been a while for sure and I havent been dropping by others channels as much either. Sorry I havent been to your place lately. Will soon. :-)
It shows that you really know what you are doing on those bushings and new shaft. You made it look fairly easy, it would have taken me a week with lots of blood letting and cuss words.
good to see your puttin the new camera to work glad to see your makeing new videos again collin. really enjoy your content. thanks from thunder bay ontario.
Welcome back we've missed you. What happened to the young man at the beginning, he has grown up, are we getting older?? Nice repair and don't wait so long for the next one.. Aloha ke Akua
Good to see you, liking the wire bending fixture. We like excavator and back hoe work as the metal is so thick strong. Wow nice man handling that shaft back together with the pin, thinking not an easy one man and a circus act job. Your videos and you have been missed. Lance & Patrick.
Yes, I like the image quality better as well. I did upgrade the shop light to large LEDs some time ago but could use more. I'll try to work on it. Thanks :-)
Good work, Colin. Not sure how you get any work done when the circus is performing in the next bay over. BTW, possibly the worst moon walk I have ever seen, haha. That little CAT looks about ready for more years of use and abuse. Cheers, Gary
Haha, I'll be sure to let her know...Take 2 sometime in the future. The owners have used the machine quite a bit and are happy with the job. Thanks Gary.
Nice repair. Wish you were on here doing more videos. Always a joy to watch you at it. What material was that pin? Are you going to heat treat? I thought those pins were always 55-60 Rockwell
Thanks Tim. I wish I could do more as well. For replacement pins I use hard-chrome 1045 rod. It makes great pins and no treatment needed. A little harder to work with due to the hardness but in the end likely the best choice.
I had planned to record the project but phone camera just wasn't cutting it. Needed the project finished to make things for the wife. I'll try to do an overview at some point on what I made/changed/ruined. Cheers :)
Found a Really good tip to get the worn out hardened bushes out from my digger part supplier.. Run a continuous bead of mig weld round the inside of the Bush... When The Weld cools it shrinks the Bush .. Weld also gives you a nice shelf to punch it out with the old pin ..... Obv Only weld one sides Bushes at a time and punch them out before moving on to the opposite side or you'll not be able to get the old thru pin.. It Makes really quick work of it /saves your die grinder 👍
Ya, I've used weld many time in the past. Just didnt want to shop full of smoke from the grease burning. It doesnt take much longer to cut with a good burr.. :-)
Hi bud. Hope you're doing well..Sorry I havent dropped by. That 305 Cat was one of two with similar issues during the month. Didnt record the 303 job though. Take care, Colin :-)
Actually there may have been patches of snow still down when the vid was recorded. Spent some time in the editing room..lol How's your summer goin? Any vid soon? Cheers
I personally missed that rain face..... Your work is inspiring...I too have a love of working the big parts..... Our excavators and such are quite a lot larger but the principals are the same.... Just finished bearing and seals in a walking tandem in 22yd.. Scraper... Me and my truck crane... Great to see you big, keep up the good work and share it with us... Thanks Colin
Thanks for that comment. I'd love to do more videos. I don't get much in the way of bigger machinery. Not sure I'd have the means or space to handle them though. :-)
I just discovered your channel tonight. After using weld shrinkage to my advantage in so many other ways, I’ve never used it for tweaking ears/bosses, awesome tip! It’s nice to see some great content coming from the east coast, cheers from Antigonish Nova Scotia. 👍🏻👍🏻
@@CompEdgeX2013 that rod is still in better shape than the ones on the ingersoll 6018 that I bought. The backhoe outriggers are open at the bottom so the rods get placed on rocks all the time. Some day I might make new ones. Maybe.
I enjoyed this video. Nice work on the dippers. You've a nice family but America's Got Talent has their own channel. (Ha ha.) I found some good tips including weld bending- very neat idea. All in all, A++. The new camera provides very good quality images. Thanks for the video.
Thats when you use the shrinkage of a weld bead to your advantage instead of causing your parts to be out of square.. not so far fetched from heat straightening a shaft. Cheers Colin
