I was of the same mindset as you with the glow in the dark feature being more of a novelty…then I lost my Benu in my giant tote bag several months ago and thankfully it was a Benu with the glow in the dark feature. Found it right away😂. Not that I’m constantly losing my pens inside large totes, but that glow factor did come in handy for me one time.😂😂😂😂
I couldn’t be happier with the BENU Bora Bora than I already am. This video helped me make the right decision to not pick something tame. Thanks for uploading!
I purchased the briolette and I think it's a wonderful pen I think it would look a little bit better if the nibble a little larger it seems a bit skimpy for the for the greatness of the pan but it writes beautifully. Unfortunately the prices on the other models are beyond my means so I'll just be happy with what I have. Well if I have to be honest I won't be happy but I'll do my best.
Thank you for your video. It's good to see the differences between nibs, and indeed I want those pens! I really like the colour combination of Bora Bora, and love the name of Vodka on the Rocks. I must have it for the sake of the name! haha
I've had trouble with some inks, so I now use only these brands: Waterman, Parker, Pelikan, & Pilot. I don't use the new "fad" inks: Shimmer, or glitter. BTW: Happy Valentine's Day!
I’m trying to decide on a fine or a medium. I know you have a few Franklin Christoph pens….do you think the standard fine steel FC nib is similar to the Benu fine?
FC uses Jowo nibs and Benu uses Schmidt nibs. The two brands are a little different and I find the Schmidt steel nibs to be a little more bouncy-my preference in Benu nibs is a fine because they are smooth and a bit bouncy. Although the mediums are great too, I find them to be a little more broad than the FC medium nibs. Hope that helps.
@@MysteryArts I got one with a fine nib a few days ago, and you are right, it’s softer than my FC fine, and so smooth and wet. I noticed in a few videos that there is a huge jump betw the Benu fine and the Benu medium. Don’t have the FC med, but the Benu medium looks much broader than Pilot mediums. Been using Vodka on the Rocks at work and it’s so funny, all my female coworkers, when they see it, they are like crows spotting something shiny. All conversation stops and they are like “WHERE did you get that PEN?!?” Thanks for your reply
I think I might have said this on your Briolette video but I have shied away from Benu because they seemed so ostentatious. I’ve looked at them differently since you reviewed the Briolette and have now put them on my list. I love those Penwell pen holders, I think I saw them first on Figboot’s channel. Thanks!
I had misaligned tines with my euphoria Vodka on the Rocks, and hard starts right out of the box.. I sent it back, they graciously fixed it and sent it back to me, but now i cant get more than half a page with out it acting ink starved. after a couple shakes it writes again. Used Colorverse inks so far.. Im super frustrated with this pen and completely dis-enchanted :( I am hoping to figure it out though bc i want to love this pen so badly. It was expensive to me and one of my first next level pens. I do like #5 nibs, might try a briolette before entirely giving up on Benu. Thanks for the review.
@@MysteryArts its a medium nib. I tried two different colorverse inks so far. I dont usually have issues with colorverse, moving to a different brand on this next fill :) any suggestions?
Have you tried thoroughly cleaning the nib and section? I use a Bulb Syringe to force water through the feed, then set the nib in a shot glass of pen-flush for at least an hour. Then, force more water through the feed to get rid of the flush residue & clear the nib with an absorbent paper towel.
I think some inks must be designed for art making, because they look lovely swatched heavily, but flow so poorly in pens. I have some wearingeul inks like that. My Noodler’s flow great, especially general of the armies, and dark matter, and baystate blue. I love the history nerd aspect of Noodler’s too so I’m glad I didn’t get any bad flow inks. I think certain colors and tints are more prone to issues, just like how orange inks make barnacles and blues don’t. I hope the white lightning works.
