I believe Benzino was really humble in this video. He has switched up a lot in the past but when he says he would love to sit down with Em and talk Hip Hop, I believe him. He’s also right about if you don’t believe Em is the best, that’s a personal opinion and shouldn’t be attacked. I don’t believe Em is the best, but he is in my top 10 and he’s a great M.C.. West coast dudes will most likely say a West Coast dude is the best rapper and it will go the same for down South and so on. Always remember that sales don’t equate to being the best. It just means you reached a wider audience. Would I say Drake is a better rapper than Black Thought because Drake has sold way more albums than him, no imo. I believe Black Thought is one of the greatest to ever do it but that’s MY personal opinion. Top 5 and 10 lists are subjective to each individual as everyone’s taste is different. The problem with Umar is that the actual question asked to him wasn’t was Em the best but can he be considered one of the best and Umar went on a rant about race saying the only reason Em can’t be considered one of the best is because he’s white. That’s pure nonsense because regardless if you relate to Em’s music, he is a great M.C..
But there’s also the history of appropriation. It happened to Rock & Roll, it’s happening to Jazz in terms of institutional (college) settings in that if you go to some music conservatory to study Jazz, you’re likely to be taught by a White professor, and now it’s seemingly happening to Hip Hop. Black ppl are conscious of this and don’t want it to happen again. But slowly, it’s just becoming more common and even accepted by ppl within the culture. Like Jack Harlow, I think he’s the corniest joke of an artist trying to be like an even lighter Drake, but some of y’all going to read my last statement and say, stop hating on, Jack. It’s almost inevitable that they begin to dominate Hip Hop, smh
Eminem influenced like every kid An adult I knew back then An their style. An Eminem the best selling rap artist of all time. Eminem in his prime was a problem for everybody. he’s not my favorite artist ever but he’s up there An you can’t take anything from em. We still talking about him today.
@@OgCommentkingyeah that how stupid you are are and not informed eminem is the top selling rap artist period and the 9th selling best artist in any genre period gtfoh
GOAT criteria should be purely based on architects who changed the landscape and the culture lyrically & sonically. Starts with a Melly Mel, Run-DMC, Rakim, Kane, Nas, Big, DMX, 50 Cent, Kendrick, Drake. These 10 Emcess all changed how most emcees/rappers did everything prior to their inception.
Budden and Em had a notorious feud over Budden giving Revival a really bad review and talking a ton of shit on Em. It's over now but he definitely doesn't ALWAYS speak positively of Em.
A white rapper could be the goat....just like a black bballer could be the goat. I get hip hop originated in the black community, no one is saying it didn't, but where it originated and who is the best are two different things.
First of all MF DOOM* Second MF just can't fuck with rakim or Kris one nor 3000 imo. To me I think that eminem is in fact top 10 or maybe top 15 of all time.
@@A0142-m1j Not even...El P,Atmosphere, aesop, lsp, anilyst,Weathermen, cage ,evidence, non phixion,That's more than 15 white artist better than Eminem.I can name alot more.I didn't even start at eyedea and abilities. Also all the Minnesota boys.
@@A0142-m1j I have seen krs one live also saw emiem live,Seen 3000 l8ve as well.Krs was the best.Andre 3000 is a amazing performer.B7sta live was classic. The roots are as good as krs but that's like 9 dudes and a chick.
Hip hop is evolving but it’s still for us by us white people nd Mexican people have always wanted to be like us! Hell no can’t no white/Mexican person be considered a great tf what they need to do is be real with themselves and try to do something in their own culture!! 💯👌🏿
Before Eminem most people buying the music was not the 13% black Americans in the USA🤣🤣🤣! When Eminem came people started to listen to other rappers boosting their sales. But hey we can by that is ok! Mentality of ignorant people! Ask a person who invents something, do you want it to go global or local🤣🤣🤣!
Low key I wish Zino and Em didn't feud. I got respect for Zino. Dudes try to play him like he's a sucker but he's not. He made many mistakes but his story isn't finished and he's smart enough to change peoples perception of him...
Not a benzino fan but I’m from Boston and he said some real shit about Massachusetts being racially divided. I have a half sister who lives in Watertown and our father is black but she has no black or brown friends nether does her kids. Shit she doesn’t even communicate with me and I feel like it cause my wife and daughter are latino..
I agree with Benzino on this one. Eminem fans are annoying. My favorite rapper of all time is Nas, but I ain't gonna get mad at you if you're not into Nas. Oh! And Tupac fans too. Eminem and Tupac got the worst stans.
There all legends but from a guy that lived though all the era's, late 70's up, there only 4 artists on that list that fit the criteria of best as they are the only real lyricist's on that list and yes that maters.
@@AO-LetsGo-he is delusional, a racist. Not seeing the positive of something going global and is a phenomenon on planet earth! Like all inventions. Like saying Lewis Hamilton would never be in the goat conversations driving a car because he is black! Before Eminem the biggest audience bying all CDs or mixtapes were white people🤣🤣🤣!
Did Adam just said "is Eminem the greatest rapper of all time when I've got to put him up against Jay, Nas and Drake" ??? SERIOUSLY, DRAKE??? The discredit of Eminem is crazy.
That's crazy really. I'm English and I'm 48 now and I can't name 3 Drake songs but I can name Jay, Nas, Pac and Ems entire discography @@MikeJones-pf4wd
This dude is crazy. Every interview regarding Eminem is different with Benzino. He hates him, he respects him... This dude is a disaster. In 2024, whether you're black, white, or purple, nobody is talking positively about Benzino's music career on a big picture, "for the culture" level.
I'm from Boston. Alot of the racial talk is true but alot is not true. Trust me, Eminem blew TF up nation wide when he dropped. I was lived through it. When you played the real slim shady to someone that never heard it, they loved it even if they wanted to hate on it. I played it for several people for the 1st time they heard it. Everyone loved it right away. The ones that hated, had the CD a week later. It's a timing thing. Not just Marshall. The world was primed and ready for the white rapper. On top of that, there was an oxycontin epedemic going on. Millions of white kids hooked on pills. Eminem spoke to them. He knew the pain of addiction. It was really just the perfect storm.
Like who you like but voicing it on a big platform is clout chasing. Platforms are having you talk about it for views and your buying into it. Do your business and build your own success yourself.
Black guy here...Em was one of my fav growing up as a kid but when I got older I grew out of his shock value content. Not to say he didnt have deep songs later but the majority of his songs didnt age well.
EM will never know what it feels like to be black, he don’t know the struggle, the judgement, the stereotypes, the mistreatment, the prejudice, the bigotry, the colorism, the media scapegoating ,the systematic racism that black people experience. He could never relate as one of us, so how the hell could he be the goat of our culture/hip hop?? The hood would never give him that💯He’s a guess in our culture and no matter how lyrical he is, hip hop is not his natural culture,he stepped away from rock and roll ,country, ect. and he chose our culture. He’s one of the best wordsmiths in hip hop but he can never be the GOAT of hip hop. HE’S NOT OF HIP HOP, he chose it.
He's not the goat but he's top ten RAPPERS of all time and thats undeniable. skill succes impact originality is undeniable. Just giving props where it's do he is amazing at the craft. Persona is persona but most your favorite rapers arent who they presented temselves as an artist.
Stop with the racist card black people are more racist then white people that's why yall always say Eminem don't belong to our culture and that's being racist because if a white person tells a black person you don't belong to our country or to our culture you also call them racist
You just said it, you can't hear. Music is music. What makes something "for black"? Crime? Ignorance? Violent tendencies? Speaking incorrectly? You don't understand or comprehend music so you focus on things like image and garbage culture. It's like a kid going to the best restaurant in the world and just wanting chicken nuggets. Do better.
i dont care how many similes & metaphors he can fit in one sentence, cant no whiteboy rappin go hard to me. it’ll never happen. he make music for white folks and niggas who wear collar shirts with basketball shorts.
Em fell off so badly that it honestly takes from his so called GOAT status. He has so many cringeworthy lines, Horrible Flows and just overall bad music. After that horrible Trump diss Freestyle was I could never even look at him as a GOAT.
You must not being listening to the right artist lol. He is best ever hands down you just hate because he is white and is better than any other rapper out their, doesn't matter the color, why you think none of the biggest rappers out there never respond to Eminem dissing them, because they know their career would be over. Lmao
Em is an establishment shill who fell for the Trump derangement propaganda. Benzino is right when he says Em shelters himself because he doesn't want to get caught on camera in a predicament that hurts his image. This is why you never see him battle or debate anyone on politics. Everything is scripted and controlled for him.
Stop using the basketball analogy. Naismith created basketball he didn’t create the NBA. Michael Jordan is the greatest NBA player of all time. The NBA isn’t owned by any one person and wasn’t created on the streets with no regulation. Thats like saying the person who created words is responsible for creating music.
Benzino is actually pretty mature about it now. People grow up, they leave the past behind and get over petty beefs from 20 years ago, it is what it is man.
