Thanks for your extensive review. I admit I've just subscribed to your channel as imho you made a very complete video, with honesty when talking about the pros and cons and also I've found the video very complete so far in all the ways a potential buyer would liko know before shopping and sadly most people/youtubers/channels won't tell... Best done review I’ve seen on any headphones 🎧 so well done. I bought the X Box version. Unfortunately I find that every time I turn them on I need to reconnect them via portal app which is a pain and very unusual. I’m wondering am I missing something in the settings 😮. Thanks for a great and comprehensive review.

What is the difference between this 2022 model and the 2021 Xbox modelo apart from the fact that, obviously, it will no longer be able to connect/synchronize with the Xbox via wireless (2.5hz frequency)? I'm wondering which one to get. It would be to use it on the PC for videos and music, and for the Series X, PS5 and Switch. I think I had read that the new model for Playstation has twice the battery, but I'm not sure. If I connect it by cable to the Xbox controller, does it lose quality or would it sound exactly the same as in Wireless/Bluetooth with Dolby Atmos, etc? Also Dolby Atmos is not supported on Playstation, so I wonder if this model supports it on Xbox via cable.

Great review! Very thorough. I had a question I was hoping you could answer. I own a Xbox but was thinking about purchasing the PC PS version of the beoplay portals and just connecting via aux. Will Dolby Atmos still work? Will I be missing out on anything besides wireless connection to the Xbox? Thanks!

Dolby Atmos works perfectly. In fact, I don’t think there’s really anything missing outside of the direct Xbox connection. You're gonna love the headphones 😄

@@thestarshipvoyager thanks for the quick reply!! That was my biggest concern on buying the PC PS version for Xbox. If Dolby Atmos wouldn’t work via aux on Xbox that I feel like would be a huge loss.

Would you recommend the HX or portal for a general headphone to listen to music? I am aware of the battery life differences but I will mainly be using it at home with PC. At the moment the portal xbox is 180USD/145GBP and the HX is around 330USD/260GBP (converted prices from GBP). There is also the portal PC version is around 250/200GBP. What would you recommend?

For listening to music the HX is going to be much better. It’s got on ear detection and it has a much nicer quality sound. The only thing that I had an issue with was the very shallow ear cups but that’s more of a personal problem.

Great review! Exactly what I need before buy. But I have one question and maybe you can help me whit that one. On Xbox version of the headphone (when not using Xbox connection) can I pair these headphones with two devices by Bluetooth? I only find that it has multipoint connection but don't know this multipoint is for Xbox connection (to Xbox console or Xbox dongle) and one Bluetooth device or also can connect to two Bluetooth devices. And this one is for my extremely important for office work.

Yes, multipoint pairing refers to two Bluetooth devices. This means that you can quickly switch between two sources, but you cannot play them both at once. I’m glad you found the review helpful!

I’m in the market for the best gaming headset for competitive gaming. Meaning, I want the best in positional sounds, sound imaging and sound stage when it come specifically to call of duty. I’m considering these or the SteelSeries nova pro wireless. If you could pick. Which would you pic, specifically for gaming?

My Beoplay portal says it only has 7 hours of bluetooth battery on phone only listeng to music ... do you have any advice ?

They will work fine for your phone. They have Bluetooth or you can also use the provided 3.5mm headphone jack

It’s still a great sounding pair of headphones but the competition is catching up. But these are still the best gaming headphones by a mile. For the price you got them it’s a great deal. You definitely won’t be disappointed.

Advicing viewers to get the ps/pc ones regardless of platform is stupid. These don't work on Xbox....

They do work on Xbox. You can wire them in for sound and mic. If you’re looking for wireless connection to the Xbox, then clearly the Portals are a bad idea. Getting an inferior product just for Xbox connectivity is ridiculous, just as getting the Portals just for gaming is ridiculous. That’s not why they were made. The Portals were made to be a do it all device and the Xbox variant simply can’t do it all. The PC/PS variant does do it all even if it requires a cable for Xbox.
