I recently purchased a Berco universal garden tractor cab to install on my Toro Wheel Horse 522xi tractor with a single stage snow blower. I found very little information on the installation of this product so I thought I would video the install and share for others possibly considering this option. It is economical vs. OEM cabs but very functional.

What is the measurement from the outside of the foot rest to the other out side of the foot rest?

Do you have a Toro Model# 73545, serial # 8901329, 1998 520 Lxi, deck (44" cut) model # 78357, serial # 8901772

Great job again! It helped me a lot. The square head bit is called a Robertson bit. Named after the inventor who was Canadian, much like the Phillips screwdriver that was named after an American inventor by that name. The Robertson screwdriver and bit are extremely popular in Canada and function much better than a Phillips, in my opinion. All good here... just an FYI. Thanks again!

You didn't show us how to put on the two front brackets. How did you attach them and what are they attached to on each side?
@markhaas9265
@markhaas9265 9 месяцев назад
The front brackets were affixed to the front part of the foot rests via 4 holes that were drilled then bolted to the underside.

Nice job! Been wanting to get a compact tractor to play with and blow some snow so I've been watching lots of videos. Can't believe how many guys don't at the very least get one of these cheap cabs. I might just go this route before I spend the big money on a full heated cab tractor.

Thank You! - Still no snow here in Ohio. It was almost 60 degrees on Christmas this year. Might be one of those years where we get by with very little. It would be nice to at least trying the machine with the cab. The Berco website shows they discontinued this cab, I must have gotten one of the last in inventory. Truly sad because like I stated - I was favorably impressed.

Thanks for the video. Was wondering if maybe you could tell me the height from your floor to your garage door? I have a John Deere E180 and their cab sits a tad too high for me to get out of the garage so I'm hoping that the Berco might be shorter on the top.

Ryan - My cab installed is right at 72" high - possibly 72.5" in the middle - very easy to access thru my garage door. I believe the dimension on your JD E180 is very close to my Toro Wheel Horse 522xi. You can review all the dims on both tractors on www.tractordata.com Hope that is helpful. I finally got to blow snow on Christmas here in Northeast Ohio ( I just posted a video of it). It worked out great and kept the wind and snow out of my face. No matter how I tried I always ended up with a good bit of snow landing on me when I did not have the cab. Last season we never got a snowfall heavy enough to even bother with the snow blower. I also have a Toro Wheel Horse 520 Lxi that I have a front blade on. I use it for snowfalls of 4" or less.

@@markhaas9265 Hi Mark, really appreciate the quick answer - thanks for that. I have 76" to play with from floor to garage door (in it's raised position). I think this may work if my JD 180 is similarly specced to yours. The only item I might have to investigate is the control of the blower which is manual as opposed to your super nice hydraulic/electric set up. Just subscribed to your channel and started watching some of the videos of your machine in action - very cool!

@@markhaas9265 Did you find the installation to be pretty straight forward? Only two items I am concerned about with my setup. One, the fuel tank is located underneath the seat. I wasn't sure if there was a way to open up the back flap to refuel my tractor. The second item is how the cab hooks to the hitch. I'm running a weight bracket and 3 (40lb) JD weights. I'll have to see if those interfere with the fitment at all.
@markhaas9265

@@WranglerRunner1 The fuel access would not be an issue - the sides unzip front and back and completely roll up out of your way if needed - that is what the black ties dangling from the top are for. The hitch access would likely be an issue. If you are mechanical I am sure you could have a bracket built to engineer around the obstacle of the weigh packs. I am very pleased with the unit and I took it off last season and reinstalled this season with no hiccups.

@@markhaas9265 would it be too much to trouble you for a couple more measurements? Hope I'm not bothering you. I've reviewed their install manual for it and I'm looking for the length of the two downward posts on the rear (affixed to the triangle hitch as well as the distance between them and the depth of the hitch attachment. I really appreciate your help. I *think* I may be able to pull this off with my JD.

I have the Berco cab kit on my 26 horse Husqvarna tractor. Fits well and it is true that you get enough heat from the engine to keep the cab warm

Hi Mark, I just installed one of these cabs on my Yard Pro tractor. Did you get much heat from the hood vents? Haven't used mine yet. Where you drilled that hole looks great. Did you know there is a Velcro strip that opens just to the left of that hole? Stay well, Jack

Hello Jack, I cannot answer on the heat from the hood vents. I live in Northeast Ohio and we literally had NO SNOW of any measure last season. I think I utilized my other tractor and simply plowed off less than 2" of the stuff twice! I am very pleased with the cab and it was just re-installed and stored great - went back on very well. I did know about the velcro opening but I was trying to keep fairly sealed with no gaps to keep warmth inside. Hope yours works out well - I am sure I will get to utilize it this year! Stay Health.

@@markhaas9265 Hello Mark, I live in upstate NY. Just North east of you. Same here, not much snow last year. We did get about an inch overnight here and in a few minutes may go out and try it. Take Care Jack

I plowed with the Yard Pro and new cab for about 20 minutes. Did not notice any heat coming from the hood vents. It felt like cool air, but it may get warmer after plowing for a longer time.

@@jackcallahan2799 Hello Jack, I guess the white stuff is sure to come along this year since we dodged it in 2019. The way 2020 has been I would expect a blizzard! I think I want to read the terms and conditions before signing on to 2021! Interesting that you got little heat out of your hood vents. I know when I mow with my two they both generate a fair amount of heat out of them. I will just have to wait for that first 4" to 5" snowfall (I have another tractor with just a plow blade for lighter snow falls that can be more easily plowed off vs. using the mounted blower) to see if it effectively heats inside the cab. Stay tuned. and Stay Healthy!

Do you know where I can buy the retaining clips for the snowblower chute? I’ve been looking all over the internet and can’t find any chute rings, the retaining clips that keeps the chute attached to the blower. Any website? I can’t find anywhere to buy the parts for it. Would you know where to find parts for it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mike: Not sure what retaining clips you are referring to. Here is the parts identifier from parts tree. If you have the same snow blower you can get parts thru them. www.partstree.com/models/79365-toro-42-single-stage-snow-thrower-for-5xi-garden-tractors-sn-089000001-089999999-1998/chute-rotation-assembly-1/ (This is of the chute only) Hope that helps.
