The job of the speaker is very hard i'm sure, considering how much stress he must take on himself, i agree he didn't look good, but he stood up for both sides, or he was the line between them if you may call it. I miss him terribly. I miss his playful eloquence. Frankly I think he was an heroic speaker. He saw what a pile of crap brexit was and tried everything in his power to facilitate sanity. This man deserves a bronze statue in Parliament Square as far as I'm concerned.

If psychometric testing was mandatory, the over privileged and ungifted riff raff that plague politics and society in general could be permanently expelled. There can be no improvement to this disgraceful waste of time and resources whilst utter mediocrities are allowed to deceptively manipulate their way into positions of influence. Politicians should be drawn from the most talented members of the professions, not this sub-class of offensive and useless “career” politicians that contribute little or nothing to the public good…get rid of them.

This is how Parliament has been run since establishment, it's engrained into a culture rich in history. Do you think these bright minds don't realise how they may appear? Don't take this as absolute truth but I believe it has always been thus for 'Question Time' since waaay back when. The opposition are fully expected to baah like sheep as, of course, they get no other daily recourse to register their views with government policy, with representatives who operate from different offices. It is far more entertaining than the tedious US system of "I yield to the gentleman from Texas.", "I concede 2 minutes to the gentleman from Odiddlyidaho,", or "I reserve my time"... but not so entertaining as to match those parliaments where fisticuffs twixt opposing parties breaks out. It's a very British kind of middle ground. Just lacks more tea.

You say his household must hold similar views and would be in trouble if they did not. Your hypothesis falls down when you consider the Conway family in the United States. Kellyanne Conway was a top advisor to the conservative Republican President. George Conway, her husband was a conservative Republican, but a very high profile, constant critic of the President that she worked for. Her daughter, Claudia Conway was a "liberal" as they term the left in the US and a high profile critic of the President and her mother's public statements. So no, it's not always the case that a household holds similar political views.
