Today we are going to review the Beretta 96D. What do you think of this firearm? Would you use it for your personal protection? Let us know in the comments.
I've been looking for one of these for many years. I feel the Beretta 96D was heavily marketed to the Law Enforcement community. My father who started off as a Border Patrol Agent in 1988 carried the S&W 686 with the Remington 110gr JHP (HTP is the modern production). In 1998 they had him switch to the 96D and that effectively doubled the capacity an Agent would carry in the gun, and the long DA trigger meant the learning curve for Agents wasn't that steep. It was a way to get agencies who loved revolvers to adopt a semi-auto without having to relearn a whole new trigger because it feels like a revolver trigger.
