honestly I think that Beretta is on to something with the ammo can packaging. I live it, and truly think all pistols should come packaged more like that
First time ive ever seen packaging like this! It makes complete sense. Instead of packaging it in a box most will probably never use again, they give you an ammo can. Great video. Thanks for sharing. Just sub'd. keep going.
I seen this video probably 10 times and I can’t get enough of this beautiful pistol, and one day I know I will get one ,thank you for the great job on the review
I just got an M9A3. I prefer the FS model with the safety/decocker. I hear the trigger on the A4 is amazing I can’t imagine how much better it can be than the A3 because that trigger feels so good compared to the regular M9.
Actually, both the M9A3 and M9A4 have the so called “D” spring. The most palpable difference is the double action pull. The original M9 classic, which I also have, the double action is over 12 lbs initially. Now that it’s broken in, it’s around 10 lbs or so, closer to 11. Single action pull is close to 5 lbs initially, down to 4 now. I recently bought a M9A3 three weeks ago. Double action on the A3 is 10 lbs right now, think it will drop to 9lbs after it gets broken in. 4lbs single action. Will be lower after breaking in. This makes the A3 so much easier and smoother to shoot, this plus the raised night sights also means I’m more accurate too….Now, I just need to save up for my can to really have some fun! (Have eyes set on a Rugged Obsidian .45 cal can for my FN FNX-45, with an adaptor for the A3).
I know. I was interested in ordering one of these until he said there was no safety on the decocker. That was one of the reasons I got my PX4. I would not like to holster the M9A4 in the dark and have it go off on me.
The black piece just above the trigger on the right side of the pistol is the Trigger bar. In the original M9 there was a spring that slots into the frame of the pistol and the bottom of the trigger bar to hold the trigger bar to make the trigger bar engage the firing mechanism. I'm assuming the design hasn't changed. A lot of soldiers made the mistake of taking a toothbrush up inside of the mag well to clean out any dust or sand and would wind up disengaging the spring and losing it. If the spring is lost, the weapon WILL NOT FIRE as the trigger bar will drop down and not engage the firing mechanism that works the hammer. If you own this firearm, be very careful when you clean the mag well that you don't knock the trigger bar spring loose. You might want to see if you can obtain extras, just in case. To replace the spring, take off the hand grips, locate the hole in the frame and seat the short leg of the V shaped spring into the frame, then work the spring up into the groove in the bottom of the Trigger bar. Easy to lose, and just as easy to fix.
@@Gruntreviews I spent a few years as a Unit Armorer in the Army and graduated from the SAM 31 course (Small Arms Repair and Maintenance). I had 155 of the Original M9s in my arms room and saw this issue repeatedly.
6:11 Maybe I'm not seeing it, but I thought on the A3/ A4, with the hammer cocked, the de-cocker was angled up a bit more noticeably. In the video it looks like it's parallel to the slide.
Should be getting mine today! Can't wait! Absolute perfection IMHO. Do you know if they got the mag issue squared away yet? Superb review BTW. Two thumbs up!👍👍
Just had mine at the range the other night...love shooting it, so smooth, easy trigger, consistent. Put a can on it to finish a couple of mags and i'll be cleaning it now forever lol.
Aside from its biggest shortcoming, the 9mm caliber, the Beretta 92 platform is one of the finest, best, most accurate, and most reliable firearms invented by mankind. You will never be underarmed with one of these on your hip. Only if they could make this pistol (just the way it is), in a .45 ACP, you will never need any other pistol. EVER!
@@Gruntreviews Anything is better than the 9mm. My ultimate round for a gunfight is .45 ACP with 230 grain projectile. I love the Beretta 92 system. I just don't line the caliber.
@daryoushsameyah8329 there's trade offs eith every caliber, the big one being size vs capacity. No matter which caliber you choose, it's all about accurate hits on anatomically significant areas in rapid fashion.
Beretta is a way better manufacturer than a lot of people give them credit for. I think a lot of it has to do with the military experience with the M9/M9A1. Which is a little misplaced when those guns have decades of service and 10’s of thousands of rounds. The M9 I carried as ASF in the Navy p, the bluing was so worn it looked like an INOX model lol
Indeed. Most of the military ones had been rode hard and put up wet. Despite the abuse, they could've been worse. We will have to see how the sigs hold up after 20-30 years.
Never liked the M9 regardless of how beaten or new it was. Too many malfunctions to include the slide pin shearing at the range. Was never a fan of the trigger feel and that includes the action. I figure it's popularity came from the movie Lethal Weapon because those of us that transitioned from the 1911 and held these things were like WTF is this? Sort of like how so many Vietnam soldiers felt when they were handed the M-16 after using the M-14. Unimpressed.
LUCKY you all have positive experienced on this M9A4. Mine sent out to factory after 8 rounds of bullets fired, The Front sight came off. It does not fix to the slide because it was loose. Like it was not belong there. I sent it out for warranty repair back on August 2023 and now March 2024 the Slide was still back order coming from Italy.
I love mine. That trigger is one of the best “stock” triggers I got. I see yours got sent with the two black mags too. After some time Beretta finally sent me a redeem email to get my two FDE mags.
U didn't mention the front cocking cuts on the slide or the box checkering on the front of the combat trigger guard. This is a sexy pistol, but I personally prefer the m9a4 slide on a traditional m9 frame
It has everything I want besides being inox IT DRIVES ME CRAZY they have every version of an m9 you can imagine besides a4 inox. If i want front serrations i gotta buy a discontinued expensive gun or get a gunsmith but im not sure its legal to put front serrations over the text on original m9s
If the gun goes off when you use the decocker it would be an AD not ND. An AD is when the gun mechanically does what it’s not supposed to do when safety protocols are adhered to. ND is human error, not mechanical.
Have you noticed any scratches or marring with the trigger bar? I want to get an a4, but I’ve heard that the trigger bar is notorious for scratching the frame.
@@velizarmilutinovic2947 No I’m the kinda guy that would buy the a3 that doesn’t have this problem, because I work hard for my money and don’t think a mar on the frame within the first hundred rounds is acceptable qc.
@@phantom_knight5150 Maybe small drop of lubricant once in a while would prevent it from scratching Keep in mind you are giving away the ability of having red dot sights just because of a possible small unnoticeable scratch
Question does it only come in this color or can I get it in black? Sorry might be a dumb question but I’m new to this and looking for a starter pistol. Always love the design and heard it’s a good beginner pistol/conceal carry. 🙂
Love the 92 but it was a dumb idea to remove the full safety. That’s one thing that always made that a much better and safer pistol especially for edc.
Most companies are getting away from manual safeties in the striker and DA/SA guns. If you've got a good holster and trigger discipline, they are redundant. Now a SAO, external safety very much relevant.
@@Gruntreviews in my opinion and experience as well as being around children having guns accessible in the house having a gun with an external hammer so it can be de-cocked and then a safety applied makes the gun safer than having a gun that always ready to fire. Especially around kids in today’s society. I’ve brought my children up around guns from birth just like I was as I had a father that was a Vietnam vet marine and he taught me marine corps safety and shooting techniques from the age of 5. So it’s not my kids that I was worried about it was their friends which probably haven’t received the same gun discipline. Now a gun with no external hammer and just a trigger safety for military, tactical, police use I can completely see and agree with. Not saying civilians shouldn’t own one because I believe fully in the 2nd amendment. I just believe that these types of guns needs to be locked up in a safe at all times when you have children in the house.
@@P-J-W-777 kids definitely add another variable to the mix when talking about storage. That's something that parents have to consider and decide works best for their family.
@@Gruntreviews yep. I myself just always felt safer having the added extra safety measures even though I taught my kids well. As you know a bunch of friends can lay down a lot of peer pressure when they want to see dads gun collection. I’m the type of fella that believes an unloaded gun is a useless tool so mine are always loaded but their friends don’t know that.
I'm not a gun guy (and I'm not from the US either), so I was wondering if it's normal for guns to not have a safety, coz it seems quite an important feature, especially in this case, where simply pulling the trigger even after de-cocking the gun would still fire it.
@@Gruntreviews lol, I did go ahead and check it out right after posting the comment. Thanks for the info. I guess it's hit or miss but can work unlike any browning action firearm without a Nielsen device
@@bendabutcha if the can is lightweight, you're probably OK. If it's heavy, it becomes more iffy. The advantage of the beretta action is that it makes a fantastic suppressor host.
My cz75 is way more accurate than me beretta 92. Probably because cz fits my hand much better but can't deny that beretta feels much more premium andi have the cheap one
Unless I'm mistaken it seems really stupid that it doesn't have any safety at all. Is there any reason they chose to remove the safety to just have the decocker?
I'm not sure on the decision, so this is my speculation. The decocker has been an option, but a large portion of DA/SA pistols don't have them. I believe it was an military requirement and they've finally gotten away from the need for it.
Attractive pistol, have a closer look and it's lipstick on a .... First the A4 trigger is dismal- try a M9a1 w an upgraded D spring or Taurus PT92- and I have competition among the variants and they out shoot the A4. Next the optics plate uses tension screws on a sheer application- why? To have the optics get loose . No safety, heavy trigger and questionable engineering wrapped up in a great can.
Optics system could definitely be improved, but it appears they worked with what they had available. Trigger isn't terrible, but I agree it could be improved.
@Gruntreviews they give you a nice plastic case but the ammo can is bettering my opinion. An it's so weird because the 92x performance is very expensive
