I've heard one anecdotal story about a police department having worn out px4's in .40, they sent them back to beretta to be rebuild, when they came back the triggers were extra heavy, beretta then swapped those out for 9mm px4's at request of the dept.
Not really. It's just an old 8000 Cougar mated to a cheaper plastic frame. Before PX4 was released in 2004, the Cougar had been on the market for 10 years. If people didn't want the metal framed version, why would they buy a cheaper plastic alternative? It's like if I think Cadillac Cimaron too crappy, but turn around and find Chevy Cavalier exquisite and classy? :) I got mine for over 13 years. I got it simply because I wanted a Beretta and this was cheaper than a 92. But my timing wasn't great. I paid for like $430, as I thought they were going to dump this model like they had done to the 9000S. Within a year, Black Friday price for PX4 was $349 :)
Listen, you're gonna love this pistol! The recoil is like nothing else on the market and it's super accurate as well. I have no idea why these pistols are not more popular! Thank you for the show and tell brother.
A lot of people buy guns based on looks. I know it is silly to do that, but the thing is that it is not going to win a beauty contest. it's one of those love or hate looks. I had the cougar it is now discontinued but had the same recoil system and it was a wonderful gun to shoot it was a .45 ACP I regret selling it, but where I live, this costs the same as an f92 A4, which is super sexy compared to this
Got into firearms about 2.5 yrs ago. My first was also the px4 storm 40 cal. Very underrated pistol. I know own px4 storm, apx and 92fs ghost. Great firearms!

I bought my PX4 full size 9mm more than 10 years ago. It baffles me that it hasn’t received more praise in the industry, nor why so many keep talking about the 92. The compact gets respect in the concealed carry world it seems. In any case I have had several 9mm’s and it’s the only one I will hang onto for good. It is an amazing shooter.

Bought mine used. Have fired over 2000 rounds without having a single failure. Eats everything ive ever put in it, brass, aluminum and even steel case with zero problems
I found a Compact Carry Px4 in used case, for $330 with 9 magazines. 4-15s, and 5-10s. ...When i first shot it, i was amazed. It was the same size and weight as a P320...But it shoots flat like a steel frame. The Trigger is superb. Made even better if you send it off to Langdon.

On paper, pretty much a perfect gun. However, for me personally, it was the grips I didn't like. Went with the Beretta 96 instead, very happy. Both are great guns! Great review!
Had a Px4 Compact a few years ago and sold it for one of my first HK's. It's one of only a couple pistols I regret selling and I'm planning on getting the LTT Px4 Compact Carry here soon to correct that. Out of the box my only complaint is the shape/size of the OEM safety lever which would catch the back of my thumb knuckle due to a high hold. I swapped to the Stealth levers and found that those didn't offer enough purchase during long rang sessions. My next go around I plan on trying LTT's carry lever which I think will be a happy medium
There are useful accessories and mods directly from Beretta and also from Langston Tactical. I want one on these for home defense. My preference is unchambered but it's nice to have two levels of safety if chambered. The first is decocked only which is very safe (there's an available G kit to convert to decocker only) but factory stock we can also flip the lever to safe position. Safe position is also good during the chambering process since a finger slipping into the guard can't say it off, and because it automatically decocks the hammer so it's not left with the hammer up. Really well thought out, works best if it's out main training self defense pistol since the "manual of arms" is a little different from other hammer based pistols including the reverse safety direction. I want one! It's on my list. Thanks for a well organized review.
I'm no gun expert, but it is a smooth (40 cal) and accurate gun, well designed, durable (supposedly 150,000+ rounds with no issues from various sources) mine has zero issues after several hundred rounds, and even though it is a full size gun, fells like it is the perfect size for my hand as well as carry. Absolutely underrated.
I just took my gently used PX4 Storm in 40 S&W to the World famous Bullseye Shooters Supply and it shoots like a dream and the recoil is different. It is still there but rather manageable. I have an M9A1 with all Wilson Combat internals, and a Beretta LTT Elite. I love all of the them (well as much as I can love a tool) I am a Beretta "Fan Boy" for sure, no shame in my game.
Full size PX4 is only 3/4" longer than the Compact and although called Full its smaller than other Full size Beretta's. The weight Difference between the PX4 Compact and the PX4 is less than 4 rounds of ammo with them both loaded with default mags. So you switch out that 17 or if you already have the CA 10 round model it will weigh less than the 15 round mag compact. I ordered the F model at First but changed my order to the G model, That safety is only something that could stop your gun from operating like it should. If it was like my old SW 40 shorty safety i would not be concerned about it but it is somewhat easy to "forget" the safety is on or to accidentally put it on. The G is just a declocker without the safety. As a novice Gun owner i always liked safety but in all honesty no one should be pulling on a trigger with a loaded gun safety or not. So i see it as something that could cause you to make a mistake, "Dont worry the safety is on" attitude when your attitude should be if its Loaded, treat it as such. The DA stock pull will make it impossible for this gun to go off if dropped or otherwise, it has to be a deliberate pull on the trigger. Now i am putting a even lighter DA spring in mine and i will test it to see if i can get it to fire accidentally just to see if i sacrificed safety at all. I believe the stock spring has 9lb resistance in DA and the 12# wilsoncombat spring will bring it to 6-7lb in DA and 3 in SA.
Likewise, the PX4 Storm is my first Beretta pistol. I have just over 1500 rounds through it without one failure. Trigger is excellent, very good accuracy. I practice first shot double action, then follow up single action. This is a quality, dependable firearm,
I handled my first PX4 Storm full size recently at the local toy store. It was already tuned by LTT. Very nice trigger, orange dot front sight, large mag release, slimed down decocker. The PX4 followed me home. 😁
I know about it, we have 3 in different calibers and sizes. 2 fulls (9 and .40) and I carry a 9mm PX4cc myself almost daily. The PX4cc is my favorite handgun of all time.
This is definitely a "cult gun." For those who know, know. I own 3 of them. Plus, some 92s. These are slightly better than a 92 IMHO. I'd love to see an alloy framed PX4.
Traded my Glock 19x for this with my buddy. I have other Glocks and he really wanted it. Now I got this beretta px4 storm full size .40. I always preferred hammer strikes and love it
This was my 2nd handgun I bought. I love it, I put in a LTT trigger job and it made it such a more accurate pistol. Such a shame it's not more on people's want list. Everybody who shot mine loved it over my striker fired polymer handguns.
Beautiful firearm. I have the plain Jane compact model on order right now! It should pair nicely with my 92fs. Sadly my Glock 40 cals will probably stay in the safe the majority of the time. If the Glocks weren’t my retired duty weapons, I’d likely sell them.
I owned the PX Storm compact. I loved it when follow up shots were very fast. My problem was the weight and due to my slender build the printing was impossible for me. It felt like a "Cadillac" with refrence to the smooth operation. Just not a good match for me. They are very well made.
My stepdaughter carries a Beretta storm in compact size. We've had many discussions how it feels in shooting. I enjoyed shooting it and and considering getting one or two. But I am familiar with rotating barrels on semi-automatic handguns. I own six Grand Power handguns. My everyday carry is the GP P11 in 3.3 in barrel.

Fourth die hard movie and I'm not sure if the fifth movie, I have the movie but I haven't seen it in many years now. I have the compact one and I'm thinking about getting the full size too. The magazines looks like 92 mags but I'm sure that they won't work.
I had a few, zero issues, very reliable, and as others will say, highly underrated and overlooked. I think Beretta did a poor job of marketing for this line of firearms. Maybe they thought their name is all they needed to sell this thing, they were wrong. Also, I believe that this gun came out as hammer fired guns were falling out of favor as striker fired was becoming the preferred method of concealed carriers, trainers, and youtubers/reviewers. Companies like CZ, Sig, began to move slight away from hammer guns for strikers and it seemed that even Beretta kinda kicked this gun to the curb for the APX. Surprised they didn't drop the line entirely. That being said, before the "pandemic" they were selling for $400, then the price jumped to $600+.
When I bought mine at academy... Berretta had a bonus offer of 2 extra mags and some sort of belt holder for them.... So.. I got 4 mags for it...with some sort of cloth looking mag holder that I'll never use. yeah... it was pretty expensive... and I bought it in I guess around 2015 or so. think it was 500. well probably closer to 600 after taxes.
I own a Full Size Type G and at first, I didn't like it initially due to trigger but as I shot pistols more and more, I understood more and more what consitutes a truly bad trigger and the PX4's trigger imho is far from a true shoddy trigger. I'm loving mine so far and I run it at local matches. My only gripe is that sand affects the magazines moreso than Glock magazines so definitely keep those PX4 mags clean on the inside.
The PX4 full and compact are amazing imo. Add an LTT trigger pack to it and wow...or you can go all in and get the full LTT upgrade. I have been asking Beretta for a version 2.0 on this tool every chance I get. Updated ergo and a few tweets, like factory plate option would be very cool. The rotating barrel takes this gun to a whole new level.

I have two. Bought a used one in .40 caliber for 250 dollars because no one likes .40 Strong and Wonderful. Liked it so much I bought one in 9mm for war.
There is a used 40 for $300 at my local store and I just can’t bring myself to buy it because I don’t own ANYTHING IN 40. But everyday I think more and more about getting into it because I love this gun so much!!! Thanks for watching!!
First time I seen one at a gun show picked it up felt great in the hand and it was marked for $379 out the door so I picked it up and haven't had any problems with it. Mine is chambered in 45 so a bit more pricy to shoot compared to 9mm but I don't regret picking it up.
It's a fine pistol, but I have had one issue with the guide rod. The plastic end that captures the spring broke after 400-500 rounds. I upgraded to the metal guide rod assembly and everything seems fine now.
Hello to you , Very nice review on the PX4. I also ignored this firearm from my early looks and learning all about handguns ect. And most recently walked into my local gun store here in town and he shows me this exact same firearm in (40) F Model. I put it in my hand asked how much and the rest is history. Why does the thumbnail say no one knows about? It's been around since 2004 It has military and police contracts around the world. Langdon Tactical has been building them for years. I own 2 from LTT and the compact has been my EDC for years.
It just seems like it doesn’t get much attention like all the Sigs and Glocks. Even Springfields. Most people don’t seem to love hammer fired polymer guns and if they do - HK seems to get most of that spotlight. I’ve never seen one on local gun stores except the one I ordered. @@TheArkansasGunGuy Keep spreading the good word sir. We all know there are multiple contributing factors to DA/SA fading in popularity. I don't think anyone can argue that riding your thumb on the back of your hammer while you holster, is safer than holstering a striker fire. The DA pull on the first round is also safer in a stressful situation than a striker. It's disappointing to me as an American that we have to rely on Europe and the rest of the world to give us hammer fire options. I also try to promote DA/SA. My experience at the range suggests that many people just don't know any better, either due to lack of access, experience or maybe budget. But let them shoot a quality DA/SA next to whatever plastic striker fire they brought, and they are usually pleasantly surprised.
I have had a PX4 Compact for about 8 years and have put close to 1,000 rounds thru it without a single malfuncton. One of the best features is the easy takedown/reassembly to clean it. Just today while cleaning it I encountered a problem with reassembly- the cam where the sprng is inserted is stuck in the frame- wondering if this is something anyone else has had happen and if so, how to resolve it..short of taking it to a gunsmith.Thanks.
I love my Px4, esthetically, it's my favorite gun in my collection and the one of the few comfortable to hold/shoot both one handed and two handed but I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. Still doesn't deter me from using it whenever I can

I bought the Compact version as my first gun in 2008. Only issue I thought was the polymer is too slick for me. Fixed that with some Talon Grips. The gun is very reliable. The failures I did experience was user error. I used frog lube when I first got it and I had to tap the slide to go into battery. The rotating barrel lug was too dry. Never had a issue since. Out of the three sizes available, the Compact is the most well balanced out of the bunch. The full size is a bit nose heavy.
I believe all compact size have ambi slide lock and you can remove the right side lever if you want. Beretta sells a plastic plug to cover the hole if you do.
No one knows about? If Beretta wouldn't have flopped Cougar 8000, then redesign and renaming into "Storm" wound not have been necessary. Other then that, Grand Power is a better rotating lock design.
