It is the remains of a monastery built in the Romanesque style in the 19th century, only a small fragment of the original. The pair of the Herpályi Csonkatorony was still standing in the middle of the 19th century, but it was demolished and the ditch surrounding the ruin was also filled in. During the Second World War, the Herpályi Csonkatorony was seriously damaged, but it was later restored and a planned archaeological excavation was carried out in the 1970s.
