I just bought this rifle a few days ago and shot it for the first time yesterday. I had about 4 stoppages in the first magazine, and was getting ready to be disappointed. But after that first mag, I went through the rest of my ammo-nearly 200 more rounds-without a single hiccup. I only had a 25-yard range available to me yesterday, but I can tell you that from that distance at least, this thing is a tack driver.
I have one of these, love it, noticed that the bergara mag didn't drop out freely, tried my ruger mags and they work great, have a Bushnell Match Pro 6×24 scope on it, use it for 25yd target shooting, no malfunctions, nice trigger, lots of fun, very accurate. Use CCI standard velocity ammo, can hit 2 inch plate at 200 yards all day long
Over 42k rounds through mine. Barrel still looks the same. Been through 17-18 magazines. To be fair only half of them feed decent. Replaced bolt guide spring twice, pin spring once, and the back white cross pin 4-5 times as its very easy to screw up taking it in and out. The bolt itself is bear of the titanium nitride coating except for a strip on the top. The original stock has these little paint spots well all areas where you hold it were bare of them within a few months. Lastly I dropped the gun and broke the stock last year and Bergara was more than willing to ship me a replacement under warranty. I would say its a great gun. Just got the b14r carbon left hand in November and I know there is a $350 price difference between the two but this one is way more fun to shoot and not picky what I shoot. Only have 5k-5.5k round through it right now but imo this one just crushes the BXR. It is a few lbs heavier for anyone curious. With cheap CCI standard i am getting 0.8moa average vs the BXR with 1.7moa average. Neither of these guns like high velocity ammo btw. Nothing light and nothing over 1100fps for any groups. They like sk riflematch. Just wish it was not so waxy. Of course the expensive Eley Tenex groups the best but after a few boxes.i could have bought bricks of CCI standard.
I switched to Ruger mags and it improved feeding quite a bit but I get get more jams than I'd like. I find the Ruger mag once seated can still be angled and adjusted slightly and I need to take a moment to seat it just right. Not sure where to go from here. Otherwise it is a wonderfully accurate semi-auto .22
thanks dave. i have the fluted steel version. i resonate with everything you said. this is a cool rifle, but at the price point i would have liked a little more out of it, especially in regards to the magazine and trigger. i also run a ruger magazine and that actually drops out of the gun a lot more freely
I'm kind of torn on this. As far as 22's go this is expensive, but when compared to centerfire precision guns the cost is nothing. When it comes to quality just because its smaller doesn't mean it costs less. The mag thing though is pretty frustrating, especially in competition when a mag change is required.
@@davethehonestasian7175 i am up in canada so the process is a little different, but i have seen people complaining about these rifles on bergara's instagram page. bergara seems to be pretty willing to send out a new magazine, and if that doesn't fix the problem they will take the rifle back in for some stock modifications if that's something you're interested in.
@@andrewdial371 Thanks. I need to do something with this Bergara since I am getting many Failures to Fires with Eley and CCI. The factory hammer spring seems weak compared to a Ruger hammer spring. Thinking about getting a Kidd striker for it first before replacing the whole trigger assy.
In one of your previous videos you mentioned cci stingers. I just got off the phone with bergara. Absolution DO NOT run cci stingers through this rifle. Bergara informed me it is not designed to run hyper velocity ammo and that if I do so it will damage the action and chamber. This rifle is designed for standard velocity only.
I haven't ran many stingers or velocitors, but the ones I did run had no issues at all. from what I can see the chamber looks alright. But the rifle has 2k rounds through it already so maybe thats why. Dunno
My bergara only likes the stock 10 round mag, and a ruger bx-15 that I have. I bought a Kidd magazine latch plunger to try out and see if it fixes the problem.
Where u bought ur scope, i need one So its only have a 10 bullet magazine, when i bought mine they told me that u can put a 25 magazine?? Its that true??
Any chance you can tear it down so we can see the trigger group and the bolt assembly? I’m curious if the trigger group is all metal and I’d like to see if there are any differences in the bolt.
I think the youtube nazi squad has decided that taking guns apart and putting them back together on youtube is now forbidden. Does NOT make sense, but then they're liberals so making sense is not their thing anyway.
What price did you snag the Bergara BXR Carbon for? Been thinking about snagging a nicer .22 lr rifle as I like to keep my trusty old Ruger 10/22 in stock configuration and haven't added rail/scope.. let me know what you snagged this rifle for!! Cheers
