Dude, good work. Just a bit of an observation. Having your bipod like that pulls tour rifle away from you shoulder. If you put the legs the other way, it helps to push the rifle butt into your shoulder. If it works it works. However im just looking at bits i changed. Keep shooting and enjoy it. 👍
I'm going to wait to sign up for your videos. I'm not a professional shooter, but in the Army's BCT, dills would tell us, trainees, "Get right behind the rifle; square up with it." I still do the same today based on what I was told in 1969. Be it a bench or the ground shooting.
Square up on the rifle.Use the magazine,and keep your face on the stock between shots! Also, the bi-pod back towards you might be affecting the way the rifle recoils,causing a little jump maybe. Nice rifle, keep at it!😀

1/4 inch out of the box with a factory gun and factory ammo is a bit much of an expectation. Does it happen? Yes, but more times than others, you will not be able to pair that combo and get 1/4-inch results. However, with a bit of patience and effort, you can get your groupings down to what you expect. First off, that barrel needs to break in, and before it breaks, it will speed up. Second, you need to consider hand-loading to tailor your ammo to the rifle, and third, seating depth or using a Tuner. Getting the rifle/ ammo combo sorted will give you consistency, and getting the proper seating depth will give you tighter points of impact. My advice is to push ~150 rds through it, get your shooting technique down, and then worry about grouping.
I have the Bergara Lrp in 6mm creedmore, it absolutely loves Federal gold medal 107g sierra matchking bullets. It hates the Bergers. Shot a 4x6 inch plate at 1000y twice in a row. Love my gun with Athlon Cronus scope.
Did you try any 100 yard groups? I’d like to hear your results. I’m planning on trying Hornady ELD match 108 grain next. I’ve contacted bergara and made them aware of what mine is doing so far. If it doesn’t tighten up in the next couple ammos I test I’ll probably have to send it back for inspection

I do learn new stuff everyday. However I have shot a lot of great groups. With much cheaper guns. I’ve shot consistent 1/4 inch 3 shot groups with my .17 @100yards. shot a 2 inch group with it at 400 yards. Shot a 3 inch group at 500 yards with my 300WSM. Shot consistent half inch group at 100 yards with a cheap ruger American.. all of these are much lesser capable rifles as far as stability and trigger smoothness. I’m not trying to be conceited but I’m 95% sure it’s not me. Considering I’ve proved to myself I’m capable on much harder to use set ups.
i like you video but the guy is right. getting directly behing the gun and loading up the bipod is a big deal just fyi. I shoot a lot phillip vellijo had tought me a lot to get better groups and made a huge difference. I also use ec tuners by Eric Cortina
@@mississippimotorsports3286 You've got a good attitude so will chime in here - I wouldn't be as concerned about the bipod loading - as long as you are consistent either way. I don't preload my Bipod even on a 300PRC with way more torque, still .2MOA 5 shot group. In F-Class you can't "preload" your front rest yet that is some of the most accurate shooting there is, and many shoot free recoil. You remind me of my neighbor when he comes over to my range. He's got that offset hip prone position as well, always kicking him in the arse when he builds his position to try and scoot it over to where its square to his shoulders. You may see more consistent follow through if you try it. The EC Tuner Brake is great, as someone that owns one if you plan on hunting with the rifle order just the tuner not the tuner brake - you will be stuck wearing ear pro on your hunt if you go the latter route and the rifle will end up sitting in the corner because of the inconvenience. I really want to find the optimal ammo for the gun prior to adding the tuner. I do plan on trying the squared up position behind the rifle again. I’m curious if it’ll help noticeably. I’m kinda of the same belief on the body position as you are on the bi pod. As long as you’re doing the same thing everytime and consistently repeating the same body position on each shot I think it’ll translate to consistent group sizes. I have shot really tight groups that way with three other rifles that are just regular hunting rifles. Two of those three rifles I can shoot consistent 1/2 MOA groups with. The other tends to shoot 1/2 to 3/4 MOA. I will try the squared up position again tho. I’m all for whatever I can do in my control to get more accuracy! Thanks again
Yeah I’m not 100% convinced on the tuners myself. I’ve yet to truly see enough data and evidence that they actually make a rifle consistently more precise. Every video I’ve watched (and I’ve watched many) will shoot one group on each setting and call it what it is. That’s very inconclusive in my opinion. Someone with much more ammo money that I should do a proper test. Like 10 five shot groups at each setting. Along with 10 five shot groups with no muzzle device as a base line.
I have a B-14 HMR in 308, I was never able to find any ammo it shot well (even the ammo Bergara recommend on their website). I sent it to Bergara to have it looked at. All they did was torque the action screws to spec (which were already torqued to their spec with a calibrated torque wrench before I sent it to them) and sent it back to me without even telling me they were sending it. I was away on vacation and had to pay UPS to hold it. Anyway, it still shoots just as poorly as before. Needless to say, I won't be purchasing another Bergara product again. I now own a Tikka CTR which averages under 0.5 MOA with ammo it likes. With ammo it doesn't like, it still shoots better than my Bergara did with the ammo it liked the best. I wish I'd just bought a Tikka to start with.
Man thats a horror story… i was afraid I was about to be in the same boat.. but fortunately today I tried the Hornady match ELD 108 grain and it liked them. First group was a 0.37 inch 3 shot group at 100 yards. That was my best group. I shot a total of 4 three shot groups and the total average was a 0.61 inch group at 100 yards. So luckily I found what it likes. I was about to send it back if these bullets didn’t work. And some of these guys in the comments almost had me believing it was me and that I couldn’t shoot lol today I was re assured it wasn’t me. It was the equipment
@@mississippimotorsports3286 Glad to hear it. It sucks getting a rifle that doesn't shoot. I tried many different types of factory ammo and many handloads in mine (different bullets, powders, etc.,) and it will only put about 2 out of 3 5-shot groups into under 1 MOA with the load it likes the best. I took my Tikka out last weekend and the first group of the day was a 0.19 MOA 5-shot group. So it's definitely not me. If Bergara thinks that's acceptable then I will go with their competition that shoots groups less than half the size.
@@michaelhill6451 yeah sounds like that tikka is shooting lights out. In my opinion 3/4 inch and bigger is unacceptable for “target” rifles. Considering some cheap hunting rifles will out perform that
@@mississippimotorsports3286 Agreed. The Bergara is supposed to be a "Hunting/Match" rifle. You're not going to win any matches with groups over 1 MOA (or anything approaching it really). Yeah, that Tikka is a laser beam. I'm definitely the limiting factor for that rifle but that's great because I can use it to improve my shooting. When the rifle is the limiting factor, it's tough to improve.
You should break in the barrel. In doing so one is polishing the ramp from the chamber into the lands. Reloading is the way to find what the rifle likes.
I’ll prolly begin reloading in the future. At the moment I don’t own any equipment or have the knowledge. But I am saving all brass for the future.. Alotta of differing opinions on barrel break in. I did clean before shooting and have cleaned after every 20 shots.
i never brake in barrels ever . if they shoot they shoot. manufacturers only say this to appease the buyer. i have called many manufacturers on this. Eric Cortina is a world class shooter he has a video on this.
....get at least 100 rounds down it before you worry about group size. Then try a few bullet weights in some decent match ammo - Federal GMM have always been a good starting point for me.... don't worry, the accuracy will come!
A easy way to zero with out going down to target and then measuring is to get behind the rifle and aim in the same place you were aiming before and use the dials to move your cross hairs to the bullet hole.
Yeah I find that method is almost impossible to do correctly without moving the gun… you’d about have to have it locked down in a vise.. I find I waste less ammo manually measuring.
If I had the money (and could justify spending it) I'd have a hard time deciding which 6mm to get. 6 Creedmoor, 6GT, 6PPC, 6BR, 6BRA, .... so many to choose from and they're all good. Factory ammo has inherent limitations on precision.
Think about body angle to gun,,bipod setup and angle, both causing much barrel flip not due to no brake. That is a .250 weapon,but it can't be used like a 400 dollar hunting rifle. A precision rifle will only perform when used correctly. Ask me how I know! Ammo is a small, smaller part of consistent accuracy and especially grouping. My 2 cents but I was making the same mistakes you are with a VERY expensive rifle. ONE day at school changed my groups by over .500. Trust me.
@@magic4221 I do appreciate that! I know it came from a good place of wanting to help me. I have realized by the book my body angle is not lined up straight behind the gun like some people teach. I have experimented with that in the past. It’s very uncomfortable and unnatural feeling to me but I may revisit that and see if it helps. I do plan on adding a muzzle brake. I spent hours trying to find solid evidence behind the theory that the bullet is still traveling down the barrel during any recoil movement. Alotta people believe it is. I’m not convinced but I’m open to any evidence that proves it. I kinda feel like that bullet is out the bore before any sort of bad recoil control could affect its trajectory. I think most bad groups are do to bad trigger pull mechanics.. the gun is being manipulated in a negative way pre ignition of the primer
If I may suggest,try the Area 419 hellfire brake, after many tries I found it best on my shooter. Also,it may be too late now, but Bergara prefers a proper barrel break in. One more thing, forget the 45 degree bipod angle stuff, keep the bipod at a 90 angle and try a bit of preload. I believe these things will help. By the way , my 6.5 Bergara shooter does .500 groups with factory Hornady XLDM ammo. Have a good shoot.
I guess that’s why I shoot consistent 1/4 to 1/2 MOA with my $800 savage .17.. 1/2 to 3/4 MOA with my $600 ruger American in 6.5 cm. And 1/2 to 3/4 MOA with my $800 browning x-bolt in 300WSM. Not saying I’m perfect. I know I can improve. But I’ve proven my capabilities on much less target oriented rifles. In the last video I shot a 2 inch group at 400 yards with my .17. The bergara is in fact not more accurate than me with the loads I’ve tested thus far.
My bergara never likes anythiing other than 140 -147 grain ELD-m by hornady, or 143 eldx hornady or Norma gold medal match 140 grain. Anything ese she throws a shit fits
i have a bergara b14 hmr wilderness in .308. funny enough, it loves that federal match stuff, but didnt like the even more expensive hornady match. i was able to get a .6-.7 group with the federal. different caliber and rifle obviously, but your gun must like something different. i highly doubt it's the rifle, bergara garantees all their center fire guns to shoot sub moa at 100 yards, so if you cant get it to shoot better you can always hit them up.
