I was born in and grew up in Boerne but when i moved to Kendalia for 2 years, me and my mom would stop off in Bergheim almost every day after school on the way back home. I would always get a bag of chips and a glass bottle coke because that was one of the few places around there to find one lol

I've lived just 3 miles from Bergheim for twenty years. Sorry to report the Jones family has sold the property, but that also means a well-deserved rest for Stanley and Charlene. A small business campus seems to be emerging there now, but without much change to the buildings, at least so far. Since the store itself is a state-recognized historic place, I imagine it will be preserved. On the other hand, the nearby intersection of TX 46 and FM 3351 is being rapidly developed. It's not unrealistic to think that the day is not far off when this quaint little spot will be just another San Antonio suburb. Why do people flock to the Hill Country to live like sardines in densely packed subdivisions of tract homes? There are at least a half dozen other places in Texas where they can live like that, not destroy any natural beauty, AND be closer to the big city amenities they seem to love so much. Sigh ....

With the natural beauty of the area and the flight of city dwellers, for reasons of overcrowding and political decay in their previous cities, these places soon become the very thing they fled. So sad to see the spoilage of quaint peaceful communities due to all the craziness going on. Enjoy while you have it.

It's odd that corporations who cram climate change down our throats, leave their huge carbon footprints all over the hillcountry when they choose, out of 50 states, to move their corporation to one of the hottest places in the country. Seems pretty damn hypocritical to me. They helped create the circumstances they're running from. If climate change was an actual thing, they wouldn't have moved, along with a ton of employees, to a place where the power usage will be quadrupled. I think they know the truth. CO2 isn't a problem. As the earth spins, it flings all that extra CO2 right out the hole in the ozone. Thank you spray cans and freon.

Bob Phillips, I heard years ago that you had kicked the bucket! I started watching you mostly because my dad liked watching you (and suddenly I get all emotional), but that was when you worked for Channel 4 (KRLD), I believe it was, and your little segments were know all over as "4 Country Reporter!" Then something happened, I don't know what it was, but suddenly you branched out on your own, and became "Texas Country Reporter", and all this time I was thinking you were at least 10 years older than I am, until I just Googled you up, and found out you're only 3 years older than I am! I'll turn 66 this coming September 19th! Well it felt good to find you here on RU-vid, so take care, and stay safe on them old Texas Highways! I know how bad they can get, because I used to drive trucks, and I've been to every corner or Texas, and the US!...👍🚛🇺🇸

My grand parents owned a county store in Freedom NH and I spent my summers there with them. My grandfather could do just about anything, in the back of the store he had a butcher shop, and deli, on the side of the store there was an area where he could work on cars. He also was on the fire dept, drove a school bus, and my grandmother ran the store, PO, and was the town clerk. When my Grand father died they closed the school and had to use the buses to transport people to and from the church because there was no room to park for miles.
