Just caught a 40 pound blue on a medium big game. Definitely good poles, I actually prefer them to my ugly sticks. Got 2 in med heavy and the one in medium
I have used these rods since they first came out. They are damn good rods. I use the 7 foot MH casting and the 8 foot MH spinning rods and have caught 60+ pound blues and flats with them and have slung a pound of bait and sinker with them.
@@fishingwithdom1657 The Red River and the creeks and bayous feeding into it in NW Louisiana have some amazing fishing. 2 of the top 10 state record cats have come out of the Red, both 90+ pounds and in my lifetime I have seen much larger cats come out of it. I have caught many 60+ lb class cats and gar way over 100 lbs.

I went salt water surf cast fishing with this rod paired to a Mitchell 302 with 20 pound test and a 4 oz pyramid on a high/low rig. It’s not the farthest cast set up to be sure. Even running down to the waterline, I was having issues getting it out past the breakers. If I surf cast again, I won’t bring this, I’ll have to invest in a 10’ or better. This rod seems more like a pier rod or a catfish rod like you are saying.
I have the 6'6" & 7' baitcasting rods and 8" spin rod. The best money spent. Thanks for your video and since I have the same baitcasting reel I'm putting that on the 6'6" rod for my son.
I Love ❤ the Berkley Big Game Power Series rods. It is the one true rod that I can call “Ol Faithful.” I have like 3 of them. And one of the three I have had for about 12 years maybe a little longer and it performs just like the 1st day I got it. The bottom half of the 2 piece will turn a light milky yellow color, like a off white over time but it performs very very well. The Fiberglass is strong in the rod but also sensitive.
I catfish lake Norman and use nothing but the Berkeley big game rod ! I regularly Cath 50 60 70 pound blues caught a 88 in November 2021 NEVER managed to break one of these rods love them
These rods are fantastic. They are light strong sensitive and super cheap. They are much better than the berkley striper rods and better than the berkly catfish series. The other 2 are thick wall glass and a lot heavier than the big game, thin wall . Customized mine by removing the foam and black taped it. Way nicer. Paired with a shimano spheros 5000 use it for big swimbaits for trophy stripers
Thanks for the review bro i bought itblast minute for going on a charter boat in Socal and because i had my GEAR stolen the day before so ended up getting this from wal mart, and i was skeotical about it still but ended up catching 4 yellow tail the biggest being 14 pounds i was REALLY IMPRESSED
Best value on the market for salt water fishing. I've been using them for years. Can't be beaten at a $22 (at Wal-Mart) price point. I use the 9 footer, for catching red fish and sharks. I fought a 50+ lb red for 45 minutes until it cut my line on a pylon.
The “Berkley Big Game Power Series” fishing rods. They are probably THE BEST AND MOST VALUABLE ROD for $25.00, they are made of fiberglass so they are GREAT for Flexibility and crankbait fishing. The Berkley Big Game Power Series rods are SO VERSATILE! They are 2 piece BUT they have an EXCELLENT uniform bend in the fiberglass rod material. The Berkley Big Game Power Series rod (spinning) was my very 1st fishing rod I got when I was 12 at Walmart (I’m over 30 now) and I caught my first “Big Fish” when I was 12 on it. I caught a 36 inch Tiger Musky right on the side of the dock at the bottom fishing with a lime green with black dots and a silver backing spoon lure. The Berkley Big Game Power Series fiberglass rod absorbed all of the stress and fight from the fish! It makes it really easy on your body because the fiberglass rod absorbs the fight so nicely. I have 2 Berkley Big Game Power Series rods and 1 of them I have had for about 12 years now. And it still catches big fish like the first day I got it. I am a BIG FAN of fiberglass rods. Because they last longer, due to their flexibility, reliability and durability. They have a little extra weight but I will take that over a snapped or broken rod just from “regular use.” My style of fishing is casting REAL hard from shore because I don’t have a boat. So I have to SLING my lures as far as I can, AND I NEED A ROD THAT IS FLEXIBLE TO DO THAT AND NOT SNAP. I CANNOT USE A ROD THAT IS BRITTLE, I NEED FLEXIBILITY IN A ROD TO DO THIS. And in the past I have snapped 3 rods because of my style of fishing. And they all snapped IN THE SAME SPOT… THE TIP! So I began asking”Why is that?” Then I did research and it all made COMPLETE sense and I had “The data to prove it.” Graphite is brittle, Fiberglass is flexible. And ALL 3 of my previous rods I snapped at the tip were made with… Graphite! And I would wonder why after they snapped I would look over at “Old and Faithful” (My Berkley Big Game Power Series rod) and wonder why that one does not snap when I load up the rod before a hard cast and SLING my lure out there… and it was because it was made of Fiberglass and I did alot of reading and Fiberglass is heavier but it is also MORE FLEXIBLE AND DURABLE BECAUSE OF THE FIBERGLASS MATERIAL. AND… FIBERGLASS HAS BEEN USED IN FISHING SINCE THE 1970’s! So there ya go! “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Clearly if Fiberglass rods have been in use since the 1970’s that means… IT WORKS… and for a good reason. And fiberglass gives you better feel and action when crankbait fishing and fiberglass rods will improve your hook up ratio because there is flex and bend in the rod and the fiberglass material when it bends from a fish will actually sink the hook in deeper due to the material and bend it has. September 2022 I caught a 41 inch Spotted Musky on a 7 foot (2 piece) Berkley Fusion Rod Combo (I swapped the reel and put a PENN Fierce III 5000 on the Berkley Fusion rod with 300 yards of 30lb Sufix 832 Advanced Superline with a light 12 inch Eagle Claw black steel leader). That Berkley Fusion Rod that I caught that 41 inch Spotted Musky on IS MADE OF FIBERGLASS. Has a great bend in that rod even for a 2 piece. Read my review on Berkley’s website in the Berkley Big Game Power Series rod section you’ll see the photos of that 41 inch Spotted Musky I caught. And I have some other nice size fish I caught. Another thing I like about the Berkley Fusion rod is that it has Aluminum Oxide Guide Inserts ALL THE WAY TO THE TIP. The only thing I don’t like about the Berkley Big Game Power Series rods are that they don’t have an Aluminum Oxide or Titanium Oxide Guide insert tip… it’s stainless steel which may cause slight line grooves from braid line over time. But other than that the Berkley Big Game Power Series rods are AN EXCELLENT VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY. The Berkley Fusion Rods are a great value for the money too!
I just bought one from a local Walmart store and it seems that the nob on the side ( spool tension knob ) doesnt function like a tension knob. Is it supposed to or is it just a bearing cap? my other baitcaster has a spool tensioner on it and works as it should. Let me know so I can return it if its messed up.
Bought this rod yesterday for Chinook (King) salmon season on the Kitimat river in BC It gives me hope, to know that you catch catfish and childrens bikes with this rod. It just might survive a chinook lol
Got mine! A 8 footer med heavy they dont have those no more mostly 7 footers now only I'm so lucky have mine for 3 years now I take it salt fishing for sharks and rays!

I want to use this on Lake Superior ans Huron for trout, salmon, walleye. Picked up a addudepth reel for it I was thinking of using braid. Would this rod handle braid and a dipsy diver well?
I just bought one and I have the same problem. Also the spool tensioner on mine does nothing. I may take it back and exchange it for another and hope that it doesnt have the same issue .
Just bought one at Walmart for $22.00 I’ve been looking at the other more expensive rods but I don’t want to pay over $100.00 for one I have 3 ugly sticks with great reels good enough for this poor boy .
For $25 dollars you ain’t gonna find a more reliable, durable versatile rod for $25. And it’s made of old trusty fiberglass. It won’t snap on you like a graphite rod if you like to whip your lures and bait out there hard. Hell and fiberglass is a non electricity conductor too ✅😎😎 graphite is though❌⚡
