Here I am taking a walk at Wimersdorfer Straße, another Charlottenburg shopping street, which is a pedestrian zone in the area between Schillerstraße and Stuttgarter Platz. The street is home to a number of different stores and department stores, as well as a mall, the Wilmersdorfer Arcaden, which since 2020 have been known simply as "Wilma". The arcades offer a particularly large selection in the food segment, as well as fashion, sports and leisure stores. Even though the shopping opportunities of Wilmersdorfer Strasse were always worth a visit, the shopping mile lost its luster in the 1990s. In recent years, the street has become more attractive again. Among other things, the Kant Center was built in the course of this revitalization. With well-known fashion chains, the center directly at the Wilmersdorfer Straße subway station is inviting. Technology fans can let off steam in the technology market, which is also located in the center. The Wilmersdorfer Arcaden (today: Wilma) with its new stores also revalue the "Wilmersdorfer". The oldest department store building in the city on the corner of Pestalozzistrasse is worth seeing. Founded in 1906 under the name "Graff and Heyn" on Pestalozzistrasse, it now houses a Karstadt branch. In addition to the centers and larger department stores, numerous small retail stores offer whatever the heart desires.
