Casio’s new AiR Grand Sound Source was developed in collaboration with C.Bechstein, legendary German piano manufacturer. The AiR Grand Sound Source developed around 3 famous concert grand pianos made in Berlin, Hamburg & Vienna.
AiR Grand Sound Source is available in 3 new Celviano models: GP-500, GP-300 & AP-700. This demo features the Celviano AP-700, the most affordable model with this amazing new technology.
In this demo, we chose an excerpt of ~2 minutes from Chopin [Ballade No.1 in G minor, Op. 23] to show a large dynamic range, a wide compass (top to bottom of the keyboard), and demanding of a wide tonal range. Honestly, higher quality speakers or headphones will be needed for critical listening, and we’ll be curious to see the responses.
PianoWorks is an Authorized Celviano dealer for all of Georgia. Visit us to learn more about this exciting instrument.

I just bought one :-) Assembled it all by myself. You can do it if you are careful when lifting. I laid the keyboard upside down on the carpet and lowered the stand on to it, instead of the other way around. Then when everything was secure, I sloooooowly tipped it upright and moved it to where I wanted it. Lovely lovely instrument, especially pipe organ on "French Cathedral" setting.

@PianoWorksAtlanta My personal preference would be the Vienna Grand (Bösendorfer). I think it suits the piece better and I also suspect that the pianist liked it too, because of his reaction and the little adjustments he did in his playing... Funny how the sound of a piano (even if it's from a digital source), can actually inspire you to play a piece differently. :) Great job, thank you very much for this video. I wish I could test this piano, but I can't find it in a physical store in my country... It is only available to buy online though... If I may ask your opinion.... I recently came by a Yamaha U1-E, (1981 - Refurbished from the official Yamaha store in Japan @ ~1800 Euro) in excellent condition and used very lightly. The technicians here in Greece also told me, that they could install a silent mechanism, for an extra ~350 euros. Comes with a 20 year warranty.... In your experience, would this be a better investment in the long run, than the Casio AP-700, or even the newer Casio CP-310? Thank you very much for your time and consideration :). Keep up the great work!

The three models have an absolutely beautiful sound, but for this piece specifically I think that the Vienna Grand would be my favorite. It sounds very classical...! Derek, you are certainly a genius, thank you so much for this amazing performance.

It's probably a Bösendorfer piano sample, since they are made there.
@yookalaylee2289

It wouldn't be a Bosendorfer sample as Casio doesn't use samples. Also, Yamaha owns Bosendorfer and they actually sample their pianos for their digital instruments.
@PianoWorksAtlanta
@PianoWorksAtlanta 7 лет назад
It is a Bösendorfer. Casio's AiR sound engine is sample based. Even modeled sound engines like Roland's SuperNATURAL has its origins in a sample of a Hamburg Steinway. Yamaha uses mostly samples but also has some modeled pianos. If Casio called it "Bösendorfer" instead of "Vienna", they'd have to pay licensing. Most software pianos choose to license a brand as part of their strategy. Casio simply selected 3 different but revered concert grands. Their partnership with C.Bechstein is clear, though it is much more than licensing.

I will feel a big difference between those models? Ty
@PianoWorksAtlanta
@PianoWorksAtlanta 7 лет назад
You will perceive an improvement, but the greatest will be in the sound and in the keyboard's connection to the sound. The keyboard itself will be largely similar as they derive from the same mechanism, but not the same support & keybed. The more sturdy AP700 will feel better, but to what degree is subjective. I believe the action is suitable, but to progress past grade 8+, your best bet would be a good quality acoustic or a hybrid, not a better digital. The GP300, for example, would serve you a long time.

Hello. I’m going to buy a digital piano, but… I can’t decide, which one is the best choice. I’m choosing between Yamaha CLP-635 and Casio AP700. Casio is cheaper, has a good sound, but most people say, that Yamaha is much better. Please, help me make a right decision.
@PianoWorksAtlanta
@PianoWorksAtlanta 6 лет назад
Hello. I'm sorry that I cannot make any simple recommendation, but to ask if you've been able to play the models you are considering in person? Both are very good, so your personal preference would be the deciding factor. If you cannot try them, then I might recommend the AP700 for the savings alone as the overall products have competitive features. Each have their strengths, and price is one of Casio's strengths.
@ivanredkozub
@ivanredkozub 6 лет назад
PianoWorksAtlanta Thank You. I can try only CLP635, because AP700 is out of stock in my city. And what about Roland? HP504 for example. I’ve heard a lot of good words from other people about this digital piano.
@PianoWorksAtlanta
@PianoWorksAtlanta 6 лет назад
I personally owned a Roland FP-7F for several years. I really like many of their products. I upgraded to a Casio GP500 last year. The HP504 is now an old product, replaced with the HP600 series. If considering a Roland console, I'd look at the DP603 as best bang for buck. It's a slimline console. How to choose? Play as many as you can.

PianoWorksAtlanta Hello! today I tried AP700 and Yamaha CLP645. And... In my opinion, Yamaha’s keyboard is much better. But now I cannot decide... I checked some information and CLP675 has another keyboard. In my country 675 coasts about $3200, 645 - $2400. Is it worth it?

What do you think about of this piano sound in comparison a Clavinova 535..i play in that Yamaha and if well, the samples are nice...the speaker system is nothing clear..terrible in my opinion...so...what do you think?
@PianoWorksAtlanta
@PianoWorksAtlanta 9 лет назад
+Génesis Osvaldo I haven't played the 535 in a quiet room to evaluate the speakers. The Yamaha samples are nice, but cannot make the speaker comparison for you. The speakers on the AP-700 are not as good as those on the GP-300, but in its price range, I believe the AP-700's strongest features are its new sound samples, speakers and included height-adjustable bench.

Each of the 3 primary grands also include a "bright" and "mellow" version at the touch of a button. There are further options to shape the sound samples in the deeper menus.

There is not enough difference between sounds.
@PianoWorksAtlanta
@PianoWorksAtlanta 4 года назад
Depending on how you are receiving the video, the differences may be subtle or obvious. In person, they clearly sound like 3 distinct instruments. One of the benefits of this instrument is that each instrument is equally presented. In many other digital pianos, the primary sample is only reconfigured...or they include older samples along side newer, more detailed samples.

@andersnilsson7917 5 лет назад
@@nofreebeer Yes, he's got ear wax. I recently bought the AP700 after checking many models. The Yamaha P-125 has a hard metallic sound when plunking down hard on the keys and the case is unattractive. Cheaper Yamahas are not good value. Casio Celvianos in general are good value as is Kawai. Roland's, even the HP603 doesn't get rid of that synthetic sound either.

At the present, Casio produces the best sounding pianos. Unless they've changed, Yamaha still uses [old school] hammers in their electric pianos.

I'm just happy to hear that the new sounds are finding their way to the cheaper models too. There's just something I don't like about the Hamburg sound that's the only sound in the current Privias and Celvianos. It's somehow a bit dull in the mid range. (My uneducated opinion.) Berlin sounds great. Vienna is like a better version of Hamburg.
@christianjimenez2551
@christianjimenez2551 8 лет назад
Indeed, but imagine Wladislaw Szpilman ( the pianist) being able to put on the headphones and play a Casio however it sounded and not hurting for play the piano and not being able so he won't be killed. I bought this digital piano for its price and because right now I just want to move my fingers for a year until I buy a grand or a hybrid piano, Casio is the best for what you pay, I'll get used to the sound and always have the piano at the University 20 min for my home to do the real deal.
