Now I've got a short story of a band called Powderfinger who have got me through an immense amount of troubling times thanks to Bern and the crew.Having seen them without embellishment over 30 or so time its hard too remember with all the merch, ticket stubbs and blurred memories. From Rundle street, Thebatron theater, Lennies,UNi oball's,Hilton hotels and big day outs. Thanks for making my 40th on 5TH august the best present an Aussie bogan could ask for Thanks BF

Not that we needed further proof of this man's genius...this song is another gem in the songbook of the best songwriter of the last 20 years! Thanks Bernard :)
You and bear and boy are my new favorites for the summer!!! It's like good old music that actually have talent and not auto tune thank god for you guys!!!!
Well I'm sitting here flipping through excuses for why I shouldn't call you Every muscle, every fibre, every hair object to the very idea I just can't put my finger on however hard I try to slap away the halo around you Still it lingers and abruptly without warning bitter memories appear When I think on it for long enough Of all the time we wasted on each other's love It's a wonder that I still believe the sun is coming up tomorrow What was once so fine, has been broken and burned So I wait here in the dark, for the light to return Blinded, I was blinded 'til I knew only the good love survives Blinded, 'til I understood that only the good love survives, only the good love survives But you and I were wasting time You and I were wasting time All those wringing hands and cheap ideas we could reason as failures But to run it through again would only serve to do nobody no good So let the universe decide how we can loosen all the knots and tangled ways we came to And resolve to never speak of it again - oh love if only we could When I think on it for long enough Of all the time we wasted on each other's love It's a wonder that I still believe the sun is coming up tomorrow What was once so fine, has been broken and burned So I wait here in the dark, for the light to return Blinded, I was blinded 'til I knew only the good love survives Blinded, 'til I understood that only the good love survives, only the good love survives But you and I were wasting time We were only wasting time
Listened to the whole album today. Not only is this the best album Bernard Fanning has put out as a solo artist, but it's better than Golden Rule by a mile. I was filled with trepidation after Departures, but now I'm looking forward to Brutual Dawn. Top effort!
Why didn't this song get more airplay on the radio? Smooth FM gets played in the office & most of the music is cold, lifeless & boring. This is a classic track. Well maybe it's just me that has the problem?
I agree I've never heard it once on the radio, but his other new song 'Reckless' gets plenty of airtime on Triple M. Also check out his new song 'Isn't it a Pity' if you haven't already.
I find it fascinating ppl from UK or Australia sing without an accent. Great song... just im always fascinated that their are now accents in singing English ( unless you are russian or chinese and even then i have seen performers sing in perfect english)
Love the song, love the video, but I still see this guy mincing bodies in 100 Bloody Acres. Good movie too! Keep up the good work Bernard and Damon 'Smithston' Herriman.
Why isn't the rest of album like this song? The rest of the album is slow, drab and soooo dull. More songs like this please. Something I can sing along too and something with a actual tune to it
I know that Bernard's solo stuff is predominately folksy ballads but I'm just not sure I dig it as much as I did the rocky Powderfinger stuff. Songbird and Trill is Gone were pretty good though. Tea & Sympathy was a slow burn for me, so maybe this will be as well or maybe I'm just overly reminiscent about days of yore.
