This is the regular seminar of the Input Output and Tokyo Tech/Tanaka Laboratory members. The topic this time is the Proof-of-Stake Protocol designed by Aggelos Kiayias, Ioannis Konstantinou, Alexander Russel, Bernardo David and Roman Oliynykov.
Bernardo, the presenter, divided the talk in two parts: the first reviews main topics in Cryptography which would help the viewer to understand the presentation and the protocol itself. Whereas the second is about the protocol itself.

Thank you Bernardo, this is a wonderful talk. My question is: when it runs the VSS protocol, each user will need to send (n-1) secret messages to every other users. Assuming there are about 10k users, then the system will need to handle 100M messages, is this doable?

All of stakeholders must run "COIN TOSSING" process to create a random number R which is the input of H function in follow-the-satoshi algorithm. And stakeholders use a PRG to generate their secret. Is this right?

What stops someone from holding the coin in the previous epoch and then "selling" all their coin at the beginning of the epoch when they are a slot leader and being malicious without anything at stake?

Taco Jordan if they allow people to delegate to him and the slot leader sells, then his and other people’s chances of producing the next block will decrease. The amount of ADA awarded for staking is proportionally given to the delegates and in addition, the person who actually produces the block will get paid for producing the block. The only thing stopping him from selling is if he does, he will lose his chance to produce the next block. You gotta spend money to make money. Can’t make money if you don’t spend any. He could get paid for producing the block alone, but by creating the next block and staking, he gets a bigger cut. And if he decides not to allow people to delegate their ADA to him and he sells, then he has absolutely no chance of being elected the slot leader. But crypto is dying so fuck it. I’ll still be here though :/

Technical question: Is it possible to have 1 computer acting as a POS node for two or more different networks at the same time? I'd like to dedicate a computer to POS mining but the economics depend on whether I would have to rely on forging only 1 brand of coin at a time, or whether I could run nodes for multiple coins simultaneously (e.g., ADA and ETH). Is it even possible to run multiple nodes on multiple blockchains from one CPU at the same time? And, does doing so necessarily handicap each node because of competition for some iimiting system resource? Anyone got the skills to answer that?

Yes, you can easily. You don't need to worry about the speed of the computer. However, you would want to make sure you had enough memory and disk space to handle both chains, though.

The ouroboros Pos is said to be secure but we could use a simple proof of stake, i don't see the advantage brought, can someone help me plz :)

there arent as much job opportunities (compared to engineering) for you in cryptography unless you are at the phd level.

You and God are on enemy terms. Of course youre going to despise any direction from him. The spirit working in you is at enmity with God, and God's law condemns you. Repent and believe the Gospel, and you will be saved: not only justified in this life, but granted eternal life.
