Here because I'm reading a book from Edward Slingerland, nice to see the pictures of that experiment he mentioned in the book! That's properly amazing.
I have a “Raven Family” here at my home in western New Mexico. Over the past 12 years, I have become fascinated by these marvelous animals! They engage in a behavior that I've called “plate flipping.” They like to hang out at my compost for goodies. There are times when I've placed goodies on a paper plate in front of the compost. They eat the goodies and then flip the plates over when they are finished. I am curious why they do this. Have they learned flipping plates from watching humans and passing it on down to new generations?
