I got one for my granddaughter. It's a great machine and a great value. You can even get a walking foot for it. It sews well, it has a half-speed option, and it comes with almost ever foot you could want. I also got the additional foot set. She won't need another machine until college or later.

I just bought one of these machines today (after my 2nd Janome broke) and am so thrilled to have this excellent, basic machine. Thank goodness they're still making some decent, solid machines like this. I can't wait to get going with it and this video has been a very helpful first step. Thank you!!!

Great tutorial. Thank you. Glad to know what all the pieces are. Just bought a b05. Have always wanted to be a sewer but no confidence or knowledge. There really aren't sewing classes out there anymore except online. Don't know how I'll do learning, without one one one. Always had singers to express my creativity. They always break. This machine seems more reliable and seems like it will do what I'm hoping to try to do. It was an expense for me but after your review, I can't wait to try it.

The machine looks great. I brought a Brunette b33 during the lockdown in Sydney. I was impressed with the quality. In terms of price wise, the B05 is a bargain. I ordered some extra press feet from Brunette costed me AUD $100. Overall the extra accessories would have made my spending around the same price as this model. But my machine is slow only 850 stitches per minute (but it was a record then) and only get 15 types of stitches (half of what you got there). My father in law was a chief engineer in a ocean liner and he preferred mechanical machine as it provides a higher possibility of repairing in the middle of the ocean. I am very happy to see that new mechanical models for Brunette. I love to buy the B05 model. But the sad part is my B33 which is well built and looks like it would last longer than I. Thanks you showing the interior of the machine which looks very solid inside. It is very extraordinary to see the inside and this part makes the review so much outstanding. Thanks a lot.

I agree with Vladimir. Most people don't need all the bells you get on computerized machines, and mechanical is far superior. I've been using a 48 year old Bernina and it does everything a dressmaker needs (except it doesn't have a rolled hem foot). I don't need a new machine, but if I did, this would be top of my list. Pity it doesn't come with a walking foot. Simon Dobson, Leeds, UK.

I just ordered this machine this morning! I love that it is an all metal mechanical machine as I have sewn on computer machines that costs thousands of dollars and do not last bc of curciut boards that are no longer available which sucks! So I have decided 99.9% of the time I sew ONLY a straight stitch and I purchased the Janome HD9 that I absolutely love! I have a more affordable Juki HZL DX5 computer machine and I am waiting to receive the Bernette B05 as a backup machine for the Juki bc when machines go in for maintenance these days they are in there for weeks to months on end and I sew EVERYDAY! I had the Bernina 160 that was a beautiful working machine until I couldn’t have it repaired bc of a circuit board issue and I vowed I will NEVER spend thousands of dollars on a machine that won’t last me at least 30-50 years which mechanical machines will and are more price friendly. Bernina delivers a wonderful machine at astronomical prices so I’m more than satisfied and happy with all metal mechanical machines! I can’t wait to sew on this beautiful Bernette machine. Thanks for such an in depth video 🥰

The foot you didn’t state what it is for is the blind hem foot. The button foot is fabulous. Use a piece of scotch tape to place button where you want it making sure to put a straight pin between the holes on the button and the tape. This allows room for the fabric so it won’t pucker. Drop your feed dogs. Go to zigzag width of holes. Manually move needle until it pops to second side make sure the width is the same as the button holes. Push on foot until sewn on. Pull out from under the foot with threads attached. Pull threads to the back and tie into square knot.

This machine looks exactly like my Singer Heavy Duty that I only paid $200 for. However, I've now spent at least $150 in presser feet and other accesories that this Bernette comes with. I don't need the extension table but I'm sure that would be a pretty penny to buy for my machine also. Too small for quilting tho (that I didn't do when I bought my singer) so am saving the pennies for a bigger machine. Love these unboxings!

Have you unboxed the Janome HD9 in comparison with the Juki 2015 TL q yet? It would be nice to see these machines in comparison to each other since they are both loved straight stitch machines cause before purchasing my HD9 I was really torn between the two so I had to compare them for myself and the HD9 has some really nice features that the Juki does not 🥰Just a thought 🤔

Thank you for showing internal. I was wondering the construction. realy not much metal any more. Cutaways: One vid matetials so substandard it was discintergrating. Another, plastic minimil metal it was tweaking, twisting. This machine for what it is, upper price of lower price range ➡️ Its not cast iron - weight - yet does have essential metal. ➡️. Portable ➡️ Speed adjustment ➡️ Tension pressure foot. many machines dont have access to. ➡️ Top bobbin ➡️ with clear window. ➡️ Two lights Cons: no case built in back spindel Would be nice No big deal --------- For me, what I need - want Its perfect. Hope it last for awhile. 🤺💐

Hi, I recently bought this machine and was loving it until it started to sew in reverse spontaneously. Its not the button that's stuck! It just suddenly starts going in reverse. Everytime I take it to the dealer it works fine, probably the shaking on the car ride resets it? I've seen comments from another person with the same problem which seems to me might be a defect to a specific lot of machines? Do you have any ideas on why this is happening? It has totally sucked the pleasure of sewing for me.

Funny, I was having same issue Called shop for appt.. Went back to figuring out. The button hole lever at back of shank Make sure its up. That's the only other thing to do with reverse. Took me a couple hours to figure out. Cancelled shop appt. I'm happy now. This is a very good mechanical machine. I'm glad I came across your comment. It helped me to see. Glad it was an easy fix. 🤺💐

Hi, I have a couple of questions about this model. 1st: is it possible to lower the feed dogs? 2nd: I saw a vid that said that this model had 2 speeds and that it wasn't possible to control the speed with the foot pedal. That seems silly to me. The pedal is just for stop and go? This would be a deal breaker for me as I need to be able to slow down for curves and corners when top stitching and other stuff.
@Esther-yu1sv
@Esther-yu1sv Год назад
1st: yes it has a switch at the back to lower the feed dog 2nd: There is a left and right switch that you set on which sewing speed you want to use. The pedal is for stop and go but you can also lift your foot slowly off the pedal to slow down

What is the warranty info for the B05? I haven't been able to find anything specific for Bernette, just for Bernina, which has a longer warranty. The Bernina website warranty page says to refer to the card with the machine for the Bernette, but one really needs to know what the warranty info is before buying the machine.....any machine.

Problem with first plastics, to thin not strong, warping. Todays plastics are more durable stronger, yet try not to over heat. The Bernette b05 Academy is the best sewing machine on today's market. What?? Seriously?? Yes! Let's cut to the chase. I wanted an excellent sewing machine to do a good job for me for the rest of my life, so I followed the brand reputation first and bought a JUKI HZL G220. What a horrible plastic piece of Chinese junk! Sluggish, the electronic system lags like on the dead bed, every response to pushing the pedal being considerably delayed. This JUKI HZL H220 actually turned out to be the worst sewing machine I'd ever tried. The quality is terrible, the machine lacks manual foot pressure regulation, and it doesn't even have any socket and pin for the second thread spool to use a twin needle! Moreover, the product stopped working after only three hours of regular use. Plastic, plastic, plastic. So I returned that piece of crap. I expected good sewing machines to be on a more expensive side, so I bought a Janome Skyline S5. Not a good choice, the motor was remarkably weak (50 Watts only), and the feed dogs did not work well enough for the price. So I returned it, too. Then I bought a Bernette B77. Not a bad machine, the feeding works really well and all the necessary functions are available. But the use is really uncomfortable: to apply any basic adjustment (e.g. the upper thread tension), you must struggle through the computer menu on the display, rather than simply adjusting a dedicated dial directly. Everything is computerized, even the pressure foot lift is electronic and lacks the standard mechanical lever, which sucks. So finally I came to the conclusion that these "modern" electronic/computerized machines are not worth my patience at all: they offer hundreds of stitches that no one will ever need, but the basic functions are uncomfortable to reach for. So I returned it. At last, I decided to return to the good old mechanical system and got searching for the best choice among mechanical machines. Having gone thru tens of various offers and read tons of information, I finally decided to take up the Bernette B05 Academy. Bingo! I hit the bull's eye! The machines has EVERYTHING and even more, it's sturdy, super strong, extraordinarily fast, and the control is based on standard of directly adjusting the mechanical dials. The quality of stitches is amazing, and even the price is a piece of cake. So I finally decided to buy two, and I'm really happy.
