Thank you for sharing this beautiful conversation with Bernhard Schlink. I have just read Olga and now the Reader. I am Norwegian, and it surprised me when the letters from Olga were found in the bookstore in Tromsø, and I can also relate to these expeditions in the Arctics. My father always dreamt about these kind of life, and our bookshelves had many books written by among others Fridtjof Nansen and Helge Ingstad, who represented our adventurers. But I am so happy to have read these books and found this interview! The Reader now made me cry and made me reflect on what it have meant to be German after the second world war. And this is what litterature can bring to you, reflection and learning experience !!!
