Take issue with the stories that the media writes. Take issue with the news that the largest and most distinguished media outlets aren't covering. Take issue with the banality of media coverage. Take issue with the biases of media organizations. Take issue with the emphasis of conflict over substance in our political discourse. But don't broadly attack the media as an institution. Don't even attack specific outlets. The media plays a vital role in our political system. Expect them to hold up their end of the bargain and applaud them when they do. Also, remember that there are many different perspectives in a democracy and it's foolish to expect all media to reflect your viewpoint. Fox News reflects the viewpoint of a lot of Americans. You might even be surprised that if you looked closely at some of their commentators, like Chris Wallace, you'd see principled reporting. I was a Bernie Sanders supporter in the 2016 election and I think The Washington Post does a lot of good work. Certainly, if I was to complain about anyone, it wouldn't be The Washington Post. Don't be children. The attacks on the media have gotten out-of-hand in the era of Trump. A vigorous and credible media is vital to our democracy.
