I’ve always loved his way of speaking. The accent and the tempo in which he speaks are quite fascinating. Just like the poet he is, I think he chooses his words very deliberately! Ever the writer.

I agree but Tumbleweed Connection has some of the best music ever written on it, Come Down In Time, Where To Know St.Peter,Amoreena, and in my opinion the best song ever, Burn Down The Mission. I didn't mention Love Song because they didn't write it.🕊💖🎸

I'm sure Bernie would acknowledge that he was blessed beyond measure by the music gods. He has made a Fort Knox worth of money by being the lyricist for one of the all-time great melody writers. And, unlike the usual process, he wrote the lyrics first, then Elton wrote the music, which is far easier than having to match lyrics to the melody. None of which diminishes what he did.

We built this city is considered one of the worst songs ever made. And the one that showed how Jefferson Airplane completely sold out from psychedelic rock. Unfortunately for me, who has been a fan since surrealistic pillow, I liked it. Same with Chicago after they turned into commercial ballads. I liked them too.

Most songwriting teams put lyrics to music. Bernie and Elton did the opposite. Elton put music to Bernie’s lyrics.

Quite simply because Bernie moved to the United States (Santa Barbara, California) from England in the mid-1970s. In 1990 he became a US citizen.

I'm American and he still sounds very British to me with a few American sounding words here and there which is normal for someone who lived in the U.S for over 40 years. I suppose he sounds American to people living in England. LOL

it's not shady. Everyone knows what he did. he said it on millions of interviews, the book and the movie. half of the celebrities are addicts. he speaks about it and is sober for 30 years. ps- extreme sexual behavior doesn't mean anything.

One could speculate maybe John and Taupin didn't meet "by chance". It was all pre-planned. Usually these 'larger than life' super stars don't grow organically.

I'm afraid that I find many of Taupin's lyrics childish and painful. I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss Blah blah blah quite cross. Sounds like it was written in 10 minutes.
