Berserk and the Band of the Hawk Pundit Review 

My thoughts "yeah, I should read Beserk at some point .. .... ... wait I READ the manga. Ages ago.." I guess I have to do it again.

I feel the whole Hawk vs. Falcon thing is kinda silly. It doesn't matter whether its Falcon, it literally only effects a metatextual joke. Idk, Hawk sounds better intonation wise.

I disagree. I don't think the Souls series are good Berserk games. Sure you have two or three enemies ripped from it and the Eclipse in DS3 but you can't really play it as Berserk. DS3 is the one with the most options, you can be a Greatsword Avelyn wielding Guts and even then it doesn't feel right. I'll have to stick with Millennium Falcon and Guts' Rage.

You deserve a lot more attention, these Berserk reviews were 'really' well-done.

I think the thing that put me off getting Band of the Hawk was the lack of Multiplayer. One Piece Pirate Warriors (which you missed out) actually does the Anime to Musou game switch perfectly and, despite me thinking the third game was a step backwards from Pirate Warriors 2, it has been fantastic with its representation of both characters and variety. It really saddened me when they decided to not only remove multiplayer but severely limit the amount of characters. The best thing they could have done is asked Miura for guidance to create a spinoff adventure for the Band of the Hawks that follows loosely alongside the events leading up to the eclipse. Much like the recent anime, the game just suffers massively from a lack of budget and care. I was surprised at how little content was in Hyrule Warriors before all the DLC was added but this game was an eye-opener for how much they could cut from something so beloved.

I often watch reviews to see whether a game would be a good fit for me. I understand that "warriors" games aren't really your thing, but dynasty warriors 4 had me at low health consistently at the end of the level on easy. Hyrule Warriors had me making tactical and painful decisions, while everything slowly turned on fire (granted in an optional mode). The appeal of muusous, at least for me is fighting a losing battle and winning.

I honestly just prefer "Band of the Hawk" because it rolls off the tongue far better to have each word be a single syllable The only translation issue in this series that I'm genuinely willing to die on the hill of is that "Bonfire of Dreams" has much greater thematic weight and depth than "Campfire"

the subject of Guts' "animal spirit", I chalked it up as a "black dog", since that's an old-timey expression for depression or chronic negative emotion. Also, being called a "mad dog" was the one thing Casca ever said that REALLY got under Guts' skin. but yea, The Beast of Darkness is just a vaguely canine animal, "hound", "wolf", "dog", call it a dingo, who cares? It'll still symbolize Guts' feral, chaotic, inhuman aspects, so it works.

Saying it like "Berserk and the Band of the Hawk" makes it sound like Berserk is a noun, like the main character or something. Shoulda just been "Berserk: The Band of the Hawk" Also, correct me if im wrong (havent caught up in the manga yet) but im pretty sure the Band of the Hawk got fuckin stomped by Griffith and the Digit Dieties pretty early on. But the games story goes on much further than the Eclipse. Thats like if you named Lord of the Rings "Frodo and The Shire" Also also on the topic of the Beherit issue, I know of a black metal band that supposedly named their band Beherit after the Syriac word for satan. I also couldnt find anything else but just a bit more to that theory.

Well weirdly enough this game was my introduction to berserk, and it got me really hype about it too.

The reception to this game is such an indicator of how spoiled we are these days. This is basically Berserk's Budokai, it's a fun little budget game with the characters and locations from the series. Is this game REALLY worse than DBZ Kakarot, or are we just used to DBZ games just being okay? The biggest issue is the lack of Co-op, it's a pretty baffling choice for a game that plays so fast and loose with the canon that you can play as Wyald. They could throw Casca in next to Guts during the Eclipse without people throwing a fit. I think I just have a soft spot for PS2 era licensed games that are offensive and relaxing, just shut your brain off and pretend you're Mr. Guts Berserk. Also, it is HILARIOUS that this game includes a level where baby Guts just decimates the Band of The Hawk. Cutting through literally HUNDREDS of this relatively small mercenary troupe to cleave his future girlfriend in half is just such a funny design decision. There's a lot of unintentionally funny stuff in this game now that I think about it, the speed of the Berserker armor is obviously wrong and a bad choice, but it is so fucking funny to see Guts zipping around like that.

God I am so eager to play a Berserk game! But since the Sword of the Berserk hasn't aged well and the Millennium Falcon has poor emulation, this half assed musou game is my only real option. Yes I know there's Dark Souls and Dragon's Dogma, but those games have small winks and nods that pay respect to Berserk (since they were inspired by it) rather than being actual direct adaptations. Just watching the gameplay for 2 minutes and I'm already bored from it! We can only hope Berserk will get a proper video game and anime adaptation.

Darksouls we inspired by berserk and Even alot of the movesets would have made more sense in a darksouls style game mayb with combat mixed with darksouls, a bit of nioh and some of the basic refinements elden ring made to the souls genre (like basic jump buttons)

I don't know shit about Berserk but even I can admit I'd love to see a good video game made of it, even if it isn't suited for one. Just make a video game original story that takes place in the same universe where you can play as your favourite characters, and not have it be so monotonous and button mashy. Mess around with it. Get creative.

As someone who's played through Dynasty Warriors 5 and its tons of missions and characters, the Berserk mousou is by far the worst of the bunch. There's often unlockable weapons, the aforementioned character variety, massive number of missions with fair variety, cheesy voice acting, and in the PS2 games an editor for the in-engine opening cutscene. I was beyond bored with Berserk and the Band of the Hawk.

Wrong. For a newcomer this is the best way to get the entire story..infact I liked it better than the anime, its paced much better and gives all the main plot points. Story mode is pretty boring and bland gameplay wise.. best to play on the easy mode(i wasted my time in hard) breeze through it.. then play the eclipse mode which is the actual game (closer to warriors style game)and its quiet decent with the difficulty and upgrades. The campaign mode is just best used to see the story since the game play is drab and boring.

Man this game stinks. Definitely gonna buy it and love it

From that you have one of the most despicable characters of the manga as a playable character, one that is not even that important, to the fact they had a "bathrobe caska " as DLC... Yeah, they put as a "sexy outfit" what caska looks like the first time we see her after the eclipse...classy

muso genre is trash, they should have made a proper rpg with such rich setting as this one.
