Berserk: Conviction - The Lost Children Chapter Review ⚔️

The Lost children Arc in a way kinda a hint to what is going to happen in chapters in the far future and also how the deal system works. It may seem like it's a side story but I think you would have been thrown off if you had skipped it overall in later chapters when these details do come up again and the difference between what is consider "Fae" and what happened to the Lost Children. Was it executed perfectly? No, there are some flaws in it because it's always the one part that feels weak for a lot of Berserk readers who are just getting used to that type of story telling (This is also a bit of a "Critique" to Sword and Sorcery in general as the story telling doesn't follow linerally when it comes to "adventures" I noticed this when someone was looking at the very beginning of chapter one and go "I don't get the plot", when Sword and Sorcery don't follow plot (It has it, but it's not linerier) in the same way normal fantasy does as it's not about saving the world. It's more about the self gain of the individual and you just happen to help the world through your actions but not your goal.) I think what it also does too is reestablish that even after Guts is left alone again, he's not going to try to "Save the world". He's not just stopping at places just to fix people's problems, he's a wanderer and a struggler. Most people would expect after Griffith's influence of "trying to help the weak" before the Eclipse Guts would try to pick up that mantle to counteract his actions, only to realize... that's not Guts. So Lost Children helps remind people "Yeah, no, Guts is going to do what he needs to do for himself and the people he cares about, but that's it. And he's going to be messy but efficent doing it."
