The 90´s animation of Berserk is the autentic animation.

I would kill to have the entire Manga done in this style. I don't understand why no one has. There's 1000 episode series of less deserving stories. So much money could be made off it.

When you think about it Guts is probably the last person you should send to assassinate. Sure he can get the kill but sneaking out isnt exactly his forte and hes easy to recognize with that sword lol.

So this is the “Golden age arc”? Why didn’t they continue the story in THIS animation style? This is way better than the newer films. The energy of the music is crazy. I miss these types of Anime so much.

I like how Berserk 2016/17 united the movie fans, "only the manga is good guys" and the 1997 anime fans under the banner of "Berserk 2016 is the worst thing since 911"

So I've never seen anything of Berserk. I was on RU-vid, i fell asleep, 3 hours later this movie is on while i wake up. Been watching this for about half an hour now.

I'm almost 30 years old and I watched this for the first time 2 months ago, now I have watched it all a total of 7 times all 6 + hours. It's amazing. Thanks for making this man!

It's hard to put to words how much I hate Griffith. He's so polite and innocent it's impossible not to fall for him. It's not even that his behavior is an act. He's genuinely so polite, intelligent, level headed, skillful, well spoken and just downright fascinating. The only part of his behavior I would call an act is his modesty. But even then it isn't that he thinks highly of himself. He knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's fated to be something above other men. Just look at how he conducts himself with the princess. He has practically every quality any person could ever hope to be, and yet this is what he does with it. He never says a word that won't further his ambition. Never forms a relationship for reasons other than his own gain. This is the philosophy he builds, the path he chooses to take. Then again, fate is such a big part of Berserk. The universe goes out of its way to make sure Griffith keeps going, keeps getting closer to his goal. So maybe that anger shouldn't be directed at Griffith himself, but at the world that gave the man everything only to destine him to misuse it like this. Still, every time the veil drops a bit and you get reminded of his single minded ambition, it feels like a betrayal.

I gotta beat Frieza, but first lemme help out the band of the hawks.

Love how the beginning scene as the movie and then the rest of the anime.

"Egg of the King," sounds like it could be the name of a particularly brutal King of the Hill special.

This strangely haunting, but kinda beatiful in a way. Very poetic too. Never seen beserk, but this story of Guts and Griffith is interesting. All I know about berserk is the eclipse and the dark soul references. The story moves pretty fast but it's interesting seeing small changes in guts every scene. I find his loyalty to Griffith inspiring for some reason.

Found this video in 2024 and started reading the books. After $650 on 13 volumes i have no regrets

The main plot of the story is that Griffith wanted Guts senpai attention and love but was pushed aside for casca and then killed everyone and rage fucked casca so hard she loses her memory and pisses off Guts senpai

All this bullshit between Guts and Griffith happened because of that fucking Bahelit.

This series has such a unique atmosphere that the movies just don't have, I think that's mostly because of the gorgeously painted backgrounds and Susumu Hirasawa soundtrack

Haven’t seen too many comments on it so I just wanted to say I love that you opened with the end of the eclipse. Really makes this feel like a grand epic being told with fate guiding our characters the entire way

I swear the soundtrack makes this anime. It's like 90% of the reason I love it.

New Berserk fan here, I’ve read the manga up to the point where Guts and Griffith play with the buckets, but the mangas are quite expensive so I watched this. At first I was worried that I would be missing something that the show skips, and as a result I wouldn’t be invested, I mean I don’t even know the names of the two blonde boys in the Hawk band (Like Judas and Rephial or something) but the moment where Guts goes on that mission at the end and… I was completely shocked, and now I’m completely hooked. Look forward to finishing this trilogy, and then reading what the show had to skip, thank you for making this!

At first I thought Guts was voiced by Crispin Freeman (Itachi) but I am CERTAIN Griffith has Sasuke's voice!!! Amazed by your dedication to put it together! Great edit. Good place to end it and the post credit edit was a really good way to resequence that scene and it really makes it feel like it's even more about gut's life that way.

The 90's version will always be my favorite, it's so good.

The 90s anime is fantastic, of course it doesn't have the artistic beauty or the completeness and complexity of the manga, but the characters are real, the animation is good (very classic style), and the soundtrack is the best I have ever heard in any anime series (it is wonderfully composed and fits the story).

Maybe the best anime ever with the best OST, pure PERFECTION!!

I dont like how they changed the assassination scene in this, in the manga Guts just heard someone say intruder and saw a shadow by the door, he didnt knowingly kill the child he charged before he saw

It’s been a few years, but thank you again for providing us (non anime intellectuals) a way to view this. It’s dropped my jaw years ago, and still does now.

1. Burn Me is awesome for putting this together. 2. I really liked the way Guts looks in these episodes and the golden age movies, that were remakes, as opposed to the new anime's in 2016-17. 3. I am just really happy to have anything Berserk related to watch.

Thanks for doing this it was really well done. Also just have to say it's hilarious how Griffith says assassination is secretive yet he sends the 10 foot guy with a 15 foot sword to do the job.

Berserk had been my favourite anime since the first time i ever watched it. Love everything about it.

36:00 "You value victory over your own life" Basically guts in a nutshell, and why he is the most inspiring character possibly of all time of any fiction.

I was exposed to the anime before I knew about the manga, shortly after it was released in the late 90's. The only way to get a hold of it was thru fan subs on file sharing sites. To this day, it is my favorite anime and it has always pained me greatly that it was not continued. I thought the movies were pointless, and although the animation of the reboot was jarring, I still would have liked it to continue because the story of Berserk is so compelling.
