i just watched the ending and wtf i didnt know it could get more disturbing then devil man crybaby. im not continuing berserk until someone says we get 10 episodes dedicated to guts torturing grifith. like bruh i need some sort of relief or satisfaction. whats even worse is i watched it with my girlfriend.
In the manga she was clearly willing, and after her dad (the King) molests her she is crying out for Griffith to save her. So doesn’t seem like he forced himself on her to me
I'm glad more people are getting into Berserk but I have to just say, this 10min summation is just that... 10mins. The story as a whole is extremely deep, tragic and desperate while also magnificent, epically beautiful & sad. It's why it is considered the greatest Manga series of all time.
In short Griffith made a deal with the devil, when he was a kid. He fulfilled his predistination. He knew of his personal suffering and that of his faithful warriors to fulfill his selfish desires. When he carried the Egglet. It found him in the end because fate was meant to happen that way regardless...
I also want to point out that the demon they fought in the dungeon. Let Griffith and Guys live because he carried the Egglet. But he warn Guts that in time betrayal and pain was avoidable.
Guts: hello JoJo from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Jotaro: hello Guts from Berserk **Running away from gayest looking villain who wants to get you by any means necessary**
5:00 you should've added that when Guts overheard Griffith talking about true friendship he said he couldn't look at anyone from Band of the Hawk as true friends because they weren't equals to him and that a true friend must walk his own path... hence guts leaves right after that
Griffith was the true villain of the show and you wouldn't have realized it until the last few episodes. Like I didn't really realize until the very end that he is a monster.
@@desi-420 dude guts has done nothing but struggle his entire existence. Not even just through his life, his existence in manga and anime has always just been guts is struggling. Just give him a break man…
I feel like griffith was selfish because he seen guts as his and he got himself tortured but still blamed guts. You can't be mad when someone doesn't want what you want,he gave guts a home but he didn't want it how is that a problem?
He didn’t care for guts because guts wanted what he wanted and doesn’t blame him and isn’t mad about getting tortured he needed to sacrifice his blood and body to summon the god hand and after that he sacrificed the band of the hawk to become a demon king and finally raped casca to impress the demons and show that he was evil he wanted equals
It isn’t a problem for guts it’s a problem for Griffith and his goal of a life he desperately wants and guts didn’t see the same dream he had so they didn’t have understanding
Y'know, it takes a special type of guy to get so royally pissed that he'd cut and tear off his own arm just to try and kill someone. I couldn't do that. My left maybe but my right? Nope, couldn't do it.
I feel like the original is self-contained as it is. The cliffhanger is not a cliffhanger, it's a good ending. A twisted, dark, but good ending. Great conversation starter on what happened next
very good video! helped me understand Berserk much more. Damn, why was it cut off though? Do you think we'll ever get a true to heart adaptation of Berserk that isnt overly CGI but showws everything from start to finish? Im not sure if itll happen due to the author and creator dying.
Thanks appreciate you watching the video! Ya I'm not sure why it was cut so short. There's probably some reason out there but it was so random. As far as the cgi goes, I haven't watched all of them so that's a good question! Let me know if you find out either of those 2 answers
Well many scenes will be too much brutal and sexual. So tv broadcasting will be very rare for it. So creaters wouldn't earn money and it will be a lost cause for them.
Watching that 2017 season 2 really broke my heart. I couldn't watch more that 1 episode. Man, the way turned this amazing deep dark anime into a comedy! I wish I didn't know they made a second season. I wish I didn't know the original author is dead.
I have “religious” friends that don’t like the nudity and let’s be real! Nobody likes the rape. so thanks for explaining this in PG13! It’s one of the coolest stories through manga and anime to exist in my opinion.
Granted I only read the manga, I haven't watched the OG anime, but when Griffith was defeated by Guts and slept with Charlotte, it was depicted as being consentual between the two, not forced.
What's that saying? In the show he's definitely not asking at first. Then stopping. Then she does consent. That's not saying he'd care if she wouldn't but that she loves him is important.
Thanks for posting this! I didn't love watching the show and kind of grew bored of it. After finishing it and now finishing this video, I grew a greater respect for the 25 episodes. You did a great job, King Kasper.
I finally watched Berserk last night. The Old school anime just hits like nothing else. The whole series was just insanely good! The beauty of Berserk lies in it's brutality and question of "what are you willing to sacrifice for you dream?" and how "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely". When the story is crafted in a way, where you can understand where the antagonist is coming from with his choices and to the extent see the Griffith's thought process on the Eclipse event and see the pragmatic logic in it, then the antagonist is well written. In essence Griffith is not even an antagonist for the audience before the very last episode and even then it's questionable to present him as such before his ascension. He has already sacrificed thousands of his companions (whom all went to death for Griffiths dream willingly) and the road is paved with blood and guts of your enemies, so what is few dozen more at that point? After all they all (excluding Guts) have sworn their lives to Griffiths dream without them or Griffith even understanding what the kingdom in the end is. To me it seem'd (and I haven't read manga, so I might be wrong) that Griffith only understood what his kingdom in the end was when the Gods/Demons presented it and at that point, he had nothing to lose anymore, only to gain after all of that suffering and he took it. When he had ascended, he weren't Griffith anymore. Or if he is, he is only fueled by his hatred towards Guts, whom Griffith despises at this point 'cause his narcissism had grown over with success. When Guts is leaving Griffith duels him 'cause he sees Guts as his most important tool, not as friend like he had made clear by giving his perspective of friendship to the princess. He feels like Guts is taking Casca away from him, he hates that Casca loves Guts, he hates that Casca doesn't worship him as she did before. He hates the fact that he has lost his cult of personality to the extent that he's willing to kill himself but is offered the ascension by sacrificing them. Berserk really makes you think. Each key character grows during the arc and each characters actions fits to their current state in that growth. I fucking loved the anime and should have watched it much earlier. Glad that I finally did and I'm going to order the whole damn series as reading material. 10/10 masterpiece where my only complaint is how the "Golden' age arc" is the only one made on that '97-'98 run. Great video dude, I truly enjoyed it and your presentation primo stuff.
Aye dope take on the series! Griffith really was someone people could identify with, a man with a dream tryna make it a reality. But he let his ambitions get the better of him and bring out the worst in him! 1997 anime is a classic, hoping we get another berserk in this animation style, I love the grittiness that 2d animation brings to shows like this. Appreciate you, thanks for watching bro!
I'm in the minority but I don't blame Griffith at all, and I don't believe that it is Griffith who goes evil and he does the things he does. It's Femto. Why would Griffith continue to live as a vegetable? The RU-vidr doesn't mention that Griffith was manipulated into doing this, and Griffith even tried to save Guts. Femto is NOT Griffith. It's a demon
I dont think so. Femto is probably a manifestation of griffith inner feelings. He talks good and all but in the end he never cared for people other than himself and his goals. He completely gave in when he had no options left to actually achieve his goals as he is nothing but a shadow of himself. He sacrefices his comrades to elevate himself. Even Rap*ing kjaskar in order to take revenge on guts who broke his ambitions.
@@KingKasper i do understand but femto still seems like a inner demon coming to live. I mean he was chosen way before the eclipse right? Ofc femto is griffith but metaphorically i feel femto represents what is going on with griffith the whole time. Unfortunetly i only watched the 97 anime so theres probably a bunch of stuff that i dont know.
Umm... I don't think the anime or manga ever mentioned Griffith getting his "piece snipped off" unless we're talking about his tongue or behelit. Nope they never ever mention his dick.
I just came to see the inspiration for Dark Souls. Holy shit. This is crazy. I really liked this video and will probably binge on whatever others I can find.
I still tryna understand Griffith psychologically. He is such a complex character and theres a lot of moment where I always question what he was thinking. I know what he did was unforgivable, but to think that he is a man with a dream, do we expect him to just give up and refuse the offer of the Godhand? He already look like a corpse and definitely not capable on leading his band anymore. Plus his sorrow when Gut left him and being tortured for over a year. I think I wouldn’t blame him for being demon just like that.
The R@pe scene?? What do you think made Griffith do that? I mean was it only to torture Gut more by showing him that the girl who he is in love with is just merely this for him? Or was there any other reason for that.
@@athulsasidharan8227 there is a lot of arguments about this but for me, the second Griffith became the member of the God hands and was reborn as Femto he already lost his humanity. I dont know if theres a symbolism for it, but if you remember Griffith was the one who saved Casca from being raped and now that he is part of this demonic sovereign hes the one who raped her? I think its a test and revenge at the same time, to show that theres no empathy or emotion left in him.
@@nic.ecstasy2414 I believe it was an action on his revenge, because after rescuing Griffith from the midland army, whenever Guts and Casca were intimate or even close to each other Griffith was shown a bit uncomfortable and confused. Also Griffith knew that from the very beginning that Casca is mad over him and will do whatever he asks for, and surely she will be under him always. But now she was a much more confident woman and was with Gut and unlike before she doesn't crave for Griffith any more and felt only empathy for him. Whereas Griffith somewhere blamed Guts for all this, became envious of Gut for what he has become and also he might have felt, what once was his is all with Guts now, the hawks, Casca, strength, leadership, everything. And as you mentioned, now with his evil form he is consumed within.
Definitely could see this happening in real life. He had huge goals but was also tryna control other people to fit his narrative. Given he lost everything he didn't care about morals just becoming king. History books have people like that all the time. But that don't mean he ain't still a hoe ass mf 😂
Wait I totally forgot the beginning where he came to the bar with one arm and one eye... just watched ep25 this morning.. I have no words but there is more knowing how it started..
You cannot deny that Griffith was definitely in love or felt an obsession over Guts so he felt betrayed and I think that’s how basically he was like I would take revenge but goddamn he did not have to do all that ……..that was way too much
Dude I agree 100%. After watching OG Berserk I realized that the new adaptation couldn't compare. There is just something more in the old 1997 version. Almost as if you would compare The Thing 1982 to the one released on 2011.
I find older anime has an emotional ambiance that can not be replicated in today's highly digital animated world. It was like the emotions were pouring through the original character designs literally being made from the illustrators blood sweat and tears not just computers
I didnt like the clif hanger ending,I do like some things about but has alot of fucked up things about it. The manga is even more messed up than the anime.
I've just seen the netflix series of berserk and your video. My question is: What is the overall ending of Berserk? How does it all end? Does he kill Griffith in the end? Can he save Casca?
this is clickbait and a the same time its not bc when i read "Berserk Explained in 10 Minutes" i though he meant like why did he do that and etc but instead of that this was just a recap in 10 min
Ash Williams (Army of darkness) o Josh Mcgrath (Max Steel) o Action Man (1993) be like Guts, Batsy Braddock / Psylocke or A2 (Nier) be like Casca, My Melody be like Chicchi, Ash or Guts have the Armor Zavala or Lord Saladin (Destiny) or Batman final suit or Iron Man godkiller or iron god or Titanium Man, I feel the pain of Guts, Kentaro Miura's legacy continues regardless, berserk is like another alternative dimension of evil dead, what if Guts He would not have crossed paths with the Hank band, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley a.i cover sing tell me why and Waiting so long
Mmh notice guts didnt have ill feelings towards griffith until Griffith said a main whos below him could never be his friend. Now guts perceive hus own path to become that man Griffith became selfish tragedy
