That’s only one of the themes of Berserk. You don’t have to unnecessarily rub salt in the wound to make people feel worse. Miura said he wanted to finish the work. Any work with the intention of ending is about the ending. If we’re talking about eternal struggle, shouldn’t that technically mean it should continue?

Same, I had it in a to read list for some years, started a week ago and in 5days I finished it, masterpiece. I love the panels with lots of people where ypu can see each one has a different face, Miura rly was a God
It was kinda hard for me to get into because of the gore, I thought I could handle it because I had read jojo, but it put me off but I finished the swordsman arc, but from the golden age it was brilliant I read like 39 chaps yesterday

Kentaro Miura. A genius, a man who was able to draw anger, sadness and hatred, he did not drew characters with anger, he drew anger itself, in such detail you could look at the pages for 30 minutes and still miss something. An artist. May he rest in peace.
Yep, rest in peace. Although I prefer light comedy, echi, harem, ROMANCE, this was one of those dark themed Mangas you just couldn't just go pass by. I still remember the shock from the last episode of the anime from the 90s. It's unforgettable. Now I'm reading manga, the anime left a ton of story out.
Let us all support Mori-sensei and the entire Studio Gaga (Miura's assistants) who will give their best to bring us the ending of this incredible story, as faithfully as possible. They will face the greatest criticism, trying to be the closest possible to one of the greatest mangaka of all time. They know better than anyone how hard the task is, but they will try. I will endeavour to get the entirety of the Berserk Manga. But any criticism constructive or destructive MUST be levelled at anyone whose going to adapt any future anime, and the entire board room must survive a 7 foot man punching a mailed fist into their face and beating their heads against the desk before the meeting even starts, for those abominations that are the CG seasons. I'm not joking. Get the biggest man in Japan, and licence him to throw punches at these corporate plebs in the anime industry, who refuse to learn from mistakes until they pay for it with their bodies.
I guarantee Berserk's ending will be better than season 8! Edit: Rest in Peace Kentaro Miura, you were the greatest of storytellers and an inspiration to all. And I suppose my guarantee was rather premature, depending on what happens to Berserk moving forward.
Here to pay respects for Miura's passing. The story might not have ended, but at least it'll live on in history as one of the greatest manga of all time.
We should take some time to halt the manga for now and give Kentaro a proper send off. Reflect on what is creation has taught us, how it helped us. Remember him for not only an author, but an mentor willing to be blunt with fate and reality. Farewell fellow Struggler

I'm 47 years old, and this shit hit harder than the death of any actor, comedian, famous person or other wise so call internet personality... all my kids can sing Forces in perfect Japanese, we all knew that we would be old before the series would end, but dang... this is just not fair at all. I can't be the only adult person feeling like this today..... Am I?
The man kept writing manga until passing away at 55. Age carries physical limitations, but life is already too hard to waste it being dishonest due to a silly preconception about what you should be doing or liking in your elderly days.
I felt the same, I literally cried and felt pain for days after his death..Gatsu has been such a huge part of my life. I have all the books and the anime on DVD

Look I know Berserk's characters are very complexly written, most being neither good or evil, just somewhere in between. And I understand the merit in an ending that is not just 'we killed the baddy!'. I can appreciate the writing of both Griffith and Guts, both having reasons for what they've done. You get what saying, I'm just trying to get the point across that I'm not someone who believes that 'the good guys will always beat the bad guys!' are the only endings that should be written in fiction. But nothing would bring me greater satisfaction (in this story) than seeing Guts tear Griffith limb from fucking limb in a brutal end battle.
I'm kinda hoping that the friendship and comradery they once held for each other will prevail. You said it yourself - the characters in Berserk are complex, and it wouldn't actually make a lot of sense for Guts to just rip Griffth apart (tho that's what 99% of Berserk fans want). That would just make for a lame/boring end to the manga. What Griffith needs is to get his human heart back to comprehend and feel all the pain and suffering he's unleashed. And then some repentance arc or whatever... you get the idea.
I hope they somehow defeat Griffith and then he gets torn apart and killed by apostles. Guts will probably end up like Skull Knight, at that point he'll already be totally consumed by the armor.

RIP Kentaro Miura The mangaka who worked on this masterpiece for 30 years. It's a tragedy, but to take a brief moment to step back, Berserk was always about understanding life is unfair and growing through the pains to thrive in spite of the injustice.
well you're FUCKED because Berserk is like what? at number 6 zillion or something and not showing any signs of ending...we're all fucked! I just hope Miura doesn't fucking dies before finishing his long ass manga like what happened with Guin Saga (which btw Berserk was very inspired by)
FelpHero Not true, Miura is finishing up a short manga series that has 6 chapters (currently on chapter 4, chapter 5 will be released soon) and he stated that once he finishes that manga series, he is going to pick Berserk back up and HOPEFULLY finish it. This will be in a couple months, maybe less. He said that he just needed a break, I mean I don't blame him. Every single page of Berserk is a god damned artistic masterpiece, so much detail. Hopefully we'll be off the dreaded boat soon...
FelpHero I think Miura has stated he's like 60% through with the Berserk story line, but I also think he still hasn't come up with a way to kill Griffith yet.

Nessuno dimenticherà Kentaro, uno come lui a fare quello che fa lui ne nascerà uno ogni cent'anni. Spero venga ricordato come uno degli unici casi in cui un Mangaka ci rimanga per le condizioni in cui vive, ma ahimè so già che non sarà così purtroppo.
Sadly, I don't think we'll ever get a good adaptation. Between the manga not being finished and the extremely dark themes of the story, I don't think there's a company out there that wants to take that kind of creative risk without severely altering something and ruining the point of it in the manga. At the very least, we won't have a decent adaptation til the manga is finished.
8 months later and It still hurts like it was yesterday. To say berserk and Kentaro Miura have been a huge impact on our lives would be an understatement. This series has saved so many lives and inspired millions more to find their light in the darkness. Berserk, and along with that, Kentaro, are life changing. I’m glad I got to experience this series from my childhood and to this day. My only regret is not ever getting the chance to meet this genius of a man and thank him for everything he’s impacted on my life, but I hope he knows just how special he was for all of us. He deserved so much more life.
@@frozi7711 Truth, it’s terrible how he passed but I hope wherever he is now he’s happy and at peace, he did more than enough to deserve that after sharing his work that did the same to millions of strugglers
@@toshiie4478 same… Miura and his work was always my remedy for the pain that comes with loved ones dying. The day I heard he passed every memory in my life associated with berserk from when I was a child up until now especially all the times I used berserk as a therapeutic experience after funerals and such, flashed in my mind a million times over. Still does. What once was one of my few happy places, its now a painful memory as well. I guess that’s what berserk was all about, struggling through the pain for a better tomorrow.
I feel you. I still haven't read any of the new chapters. I'm sure they're good and I'll definitely read them one day but at this time, I have no desire to. I guess I'm just not ready yet.

Have you read Berserk yet? I started it after I heard the sad news and I am loving it. It's a contender for my favourite piece of fiction at the moment but it's really bittersweet reading it knowing that it will never have the conclusion it deserved
I'd normally say, "Well maybe not the *best*, but really freaking great." to that kind of comment, but I can't think of any manga I *personally* like more. So... Sure, Berserk is best!

RIP Satoshi Kon and Kentaro Miura. Susumu Hirasawa has worked with both these legends, and I can’t imagine his pain knowing they’ve passed by knowing them in person as well as he did.
Berserk sounded like a "meh" anime/manga when described to me. It's just a guy with a big ass sword killing everything right? Well, I finished the anime and the movies and I'm now working on the manga. This is absolutely mindblowing. The fact that I judged the book by its cover makes it all that more amazing. And Hirasawa's music gets me pumped every damn time
Same here. I always hesitated about getting into Berserk. Oh how foolish I was. I watched the anime and I bought the first couple volumes of the manga, I read all 3 of them already. Need to buy more lol For now I'll just read online, because I can't wait.
***** when I first herd of Berserk, I thought it was going to be another of the generic fantasy anime then I saw the first episode and as you said absolutely mind blowing.
I know. My co worker was like "you should watch berserk man" and i kept ignoring him. Then i watched egg of the king in netflix then guts vs nightmare in death battle i totally got hooked in fast with the anime and manga.
