I bought a Sinnis Terrain 125 three years ago to use as a lightweight commuter - a role it fulfilled admirably. In fact I enjoyed riding it so much I sold my larger bikes because I just wasn't using them anymore. It is designed as a true adventure bike from the ground up and the build quality is excellent. Lots of nice features for adventure riders such as the top mounted intake for the airbox so you are less likely to flood it when fording rivers and streams. If you do manage to get water in the airbox there is a drain by the monoshock. Speaking of the monoshock it's FULLY adjustable for preload, rebound, and damping. Fun Fact 1: If you are a novice rider, regardless of what bike you get, at some point you WILL drop it. (Oh yes, you will.) Because this bike comes with front and rear crash bars as standard it can survive such events with no major damage. Adventure bikes get dropped all the time in real life. Fun Fact 2: If you are looking for a 125 to pass your motorcycle test with a view to then getting something bigger/better/faster/dafter this is the bike to get. For many new riders the hardest parts of the practical test are those manoeuvres that are performed at s-l-o-w speeds. Good news! Low speed manoeuvres on this bike are super easy. Much easier than trying to do them on a sports bike. Modifications I made to my bike: As it comes the tool kit is located under the seat where it rubs/presses on the ECU. Much better to tuck the tool kit away in one of the bodywork voids to the side of the tail light. Fitted a Dimple magnetic sump plug. Umm... that's it. Didn't feel the need to alter or change anything else. I have no hesitation in recommending this bike. It is extremely robust and reliable. It can cruise all day at 50mph and scamper up and down the Pennine hills with ease. Did I mention that I ride every day in ALL weathers? P.S. ACF-50 is your friend ;-)
Cracking review and tips. Ive just bought a second hand one with 2000 miles on it. Changed the oil and have a new chain waiting to go on it. I've been told it worth taking the perpetrated metal plate that sits below the air filter out , so as to help the bike breath a little more easily. Not a huge difference, but I'm told it is noticeable. I'm coming off an old 2000 cg125 which is great fun, but a little small with the view to learning to ride a bigger bike in future. So I'm glad you think that would help me progress. 👍
@@charlesbarnett2724 Before making any unauthorised modifications it may be worth taking some time to consider that the people who designed and made it had access to more knowledge, resources, and money than any random stranger on the internet will ever see. All the components that are on your bike are there for a reason. Over 40 years of building and riding motorcycles has taught me that trying wring more power out of a 125 is a waste of time and money. You can certainly make it louder and less reliable but to go faster you really need something with a bigger engine. I hope that you get a great deal of pleasure from riding your 125 and that you are able to enjoy it for what it is.
I traded my r1200gsa triple black for an r1250gsa on the 1st July, and I’m still trying to work out how two bikes can be the same yet miles apart in everything. Not a ball tickling sensation like the KTM’s, but it does everything and more and still leaves me with a massive smile across the old boat race. Stay safe my bearded fellow, enjoy those extra ponies and live you life.
Hoping you weren't going to cheat us out of the reveal and in any case, it's always good to hear your light hearted, self deprecating and honest view on any bike. Keep up the good work Brucey!
massive fan of this channel learning so much as I go' Im a 51 year old professional bus driver ashamed of riding a Honda PCX 125 scooter on the dreaded L-plate's {pizza boy style} Im now looking to buy myself a geared bike to learn about proper riding and this sinnis ticks all the boxes also looking to get some serious miles under my belt and who knows maybe even recording my adventures after the test and these video clips just push me even further towards my dream, being a professional driver I would also love to see more road craft videos if possible along with how to get started uploading footage, take care everyone and keep safe,
You’ve joined ‘the clan’!......you’ll love the bike, I have no doubt! I was the chap who offered you mine to test last year.....in the good old days! Looking forward to seeing how you get on with it in the coming months/years! Stay safe Bruce!
My lad has one, over 8k miles on it now, 67 plate since new. Only drawback really has been how hard it is to get a new air filter for it. Its managed me and him on it on several occasions past 60mph. Touching 70 with just him on it but he's young and light! He's on Heidenau front and Metzeler rear tyres now and uses it for his daily commute.
I get similar mpg from my NC700XA, usually around 180 - 90 before last bar flashes. I'm a bit lighter than you, but not too much. One thing I did notice on the Sinnis is there doesn't appear to be a vibes through the mirrors, a good plus point, especially for learner or newbie riders. Also nice to see some back lanes of Kent. I used to live just outside Lenham and cycled around many of the lanes between there and Tunbridge Wells. Keep the vids coming
Loving these vids on the little Sinnis! Also, I can 2nd the comment about the Honda dealer & cafe; great food & service, I dropped in once as my lid lost a visor screw on the way to Dover. I'd not bought it from them but they sorted it FoC! 👍 No surpises on the new bike... 🤣
360 camera on the back of the bike was great, made it feel as if we are a passenger sitting on the pillion seat riding with you. keep the excellent Vid's coming.
Just been to look at one of these today - like you I'm a good weight and height, but looking at this for my wife and I to share until I do my full A license next year. Thought top speed even with someone out weight would be a wee little bit more, as I've seen the Hoodlum (also by Sinnis) do a decent speed. Nice bike to sit on and perfect weight for my missus to handle, and also with panniers and top box it's perfect for her to carry her PPE for work (mobile home care) so all in all you've helped me make up my mind as to a first joint bike for us both!
I have had a Sinnis Scrambler for a year and a half. Great bike but a bit small (even for me at-5'7") so thinking of trading up to the Terrain. This video has helped me no end to see how well it copes. I am impressed. The trip Paul and Holly did on the Mongol Rally makes you realise just how capable and robust these little bikes are. Many thanks.
I too had been wondering, and having JUST bought a s/h 2017 R1200GS, was deliberating on what you might have next? I was thinking KTM Super Duke GT.....well done for throwing us off the scent...
Great to see a Vlogger reviewing a new starter bike. These are the machines the next generation will start their motorbike journeys on. Keep up the good work.
Hi. Firstly, I love your channel so keep it up (without wishing to sound too sycophantic). I’ve been fortunate enough to have owned many bikes and I never thought I’d buy a GS. After a test ride I was sold - took delivery in March (just before lockdown) of exactly the same bike as yours (same colour and spec’) so I’ll be keen to see your views and mod’s. I am completely blown away how good it is TBH All the best.
For bimbling around and short commutes i can imagine that's a great bike for easy low stress biking and 2.5 grand is great value when you think how much "proper" bikes cost these days. My name suggestion for the new GS is Ingrid. 👍
I occasionally borrow the wife's Sym Wolf and it's a hoot. Like the Sinnis the Sym is a heavier proper sized bike so it's dog slow but it's a totally different way of riding and costs nowt to run.
Love your new bike! i found the windscreen terrible for directing all the wind at my lid making it very noisy even with ear plugs in (it doesnt matter which position you set it), so i changed it for a shorter sports screen which is miles better and it looks great 😎 😎 😎
Great to see you enjoying the Garden of England! She's got a lot to offer and now you know where I am based you must come and visit. The bike looks like the perfect short hop commuter and an intro to full on touring. Name for new bike? Got to be female and German, Freya. Wife to Odin, mother to Thor and the start of the weekend is named after her.
What a great little bike..! And it managed to outrun a squirrel even with your amply ballasted frame. Loved the review and if it came in a 250cc option I’d be seriously tempted.. 👍 (Had a feeling the new bike would be another BMW..!)
Loving the reveal. I upgraded to the 1250 Rallye HP just before lockdown and agree it’s a nice upgrade from my previous GS. In the real world the 1250 motor is all you need on the road.
Little bikes are lots of fun, because you pretty much ride them as hard and fast as possible all the time. Even though "full speed" isn't much, it still feels fun to know you're going as fast as possible all the time :)
Enjoyed the review, glad to see a different market and demographic given some air time. Loving the colours of the new bike. When are you touring again? Cheers Darren
Some riding... a ram... a mount... your stick jiggling about.. all this with some wind round your helmet. Good video Bruce, not into 125's but still a cracking vid as per usual
Great video. I'm thinking about getting a 125cc again as a cheaper way to commute than my BMW. I'm around your height and weight, so this is helpful. Thanks.
Great video bud! Love that you included a 125cc machine in your roster of videos. They get forgotten so easily. My first bike was a Sachs XTC 125 Supersport in yellow with red brake callipers and a red rear spring. Until you started it, you could have mistaken it for a Ducati! I loved it. Since then, various bikes, all great fun, but that one was kind of special. Huge thumbs up for going full time on the channel. I wish you every success!
I've asked the kids and told them you've got a new tractor... Sophie has suggested Demeter, the Greek Goddess of the harvest. Layla has suggested Merida, Scottish Disney princess 👸 Cracking vid mate, that Sinnis is a bargain. You sounded very relaxed and "in the zone", you belong on 2 wheels. I like the over the shoulder footage of the 360 mate.
Nice unbiased review that, both Sinnis and Lexmoto look to be producing affordable bikes (not everyone can afford a GS or Multistrada) so it’s good when respected vloggers like yourself does reviews on these type of bikes. Any plans on reviewing any more affordable bikes in the future?
Hi Bruce, as usual enjoyed you video with 125cc just wondering what brand is your helmet thanks buddy keep making videos and let us enjoy your blessing 😆🙏
I like your GS Rallye, Bruce 👍 Having ridden nothing but sports bikes for over 30yrs, I’m currently on my 2nd GSA (Triple Black TE) and a couple of weeks ago I had the (sports bike) itch, so I test rode the S1000XR... very nice, but ended up ordering my 3rd consecutive with GSA (Rallye TE), which I collect next week.
I think the bike looks great, too many people ready to ridicule new blood coming into riding this genre of bike. Part of the ladder of life and a good reminder for those how lucky they are to have a bigger capacity bike and a full licence. Good on ya Mr Teapot 👍
Just brought my son a sinnis Apache, after he did his CBT I’d heard horror story’s about build quality, it’s not terrible for a budget bike and you get a lot for your money compared to what you would pay for the equivalent European or Japanese bike, as an entry point into motorcycles it a decent thing. Cracking review.
Yanno, keep getting tempted by small adventure bikes (yes I'm strong enough to lift a big GS but I'm lazy so do I really want to when I eventually drop it?) and I keep agreeing with you what it's a decent amount of bike for £2.5k. Just can I live with 125cc? As for 360 footage, it's such a pain in the arse getting stable footage! Gonna try again this weekend to get my setup right. Keep up the great work!
Really enjoyed the Sinnis review. I ride a GSXR 1000 and a GSX1400 so you think I'd be dismissing the Sinnis instantly but there is something inherently fun about riding small capacity bikes!
Congrats on the new bike. The 1250 is a great looking do it all bike. Unfortunately I’ve disregarded it from my next new bike selection because of all the faults BMW bikes have and the dealers attitude.
As my dad would say a big Geordie on a small bike with a massive grim on his face, just change the Geordie for Scotsman.😁. And love the new bike once a BMW rider always a BMW rider.
😁👍 Cracking little bike that Bruce. Apparently I get narky when I’m hungry too😆🤷🏻♂️ 🤔keep thinking about test riding that GS! 😲 🙈😁🏍🧡 Look forward too the vids on that.
I started on (and my gf on her cbt currently rides/has) a Honda XL125. Thing will happily do 60 and as long as you're not on a steep uphill, no problem to 70mph with me on it, and I weight around 95kg before I'm geared up. This bike looks nice enough and the luggage is a great option, but it did appear to be struggling rather a lot to get above 40mph. Will have to test ride a few when my son is due to get his first bike in a couple of years time... Defo put this on the list.
Another fab real world review, loving all your doing at the minute keep up the good work and you deserve every success👍 Had me going about the reveal but I'm glad to see your head ruled over your heart with the new bike. The 1250 is still a great bike I got my 1250 gsa just before lockdown so I'm trying to make up the miles now! 🤣🤣 I love it 👍
Does look a cracking little 125 bike, and cheap, a full on 'adventure' 125 with luggage for the deposit on a larger capacity bike, nice one Bruce. Oooo that new R1250GS looks lovely 😉 👍 great colour scheme, wishing you all the best with it.
Great choice, quality bike and looks fabulous!! Like many you had me thinking KTM, but you know the BMW makes sense👍😊👌Great review of the Sinnis, my first bike in ‘87 was a MTX125 and just under a grand so with inflation probably comparable to £2.5K now 30 years later🤔
No surprises their! Best road bike ever! I have called mine Berlin Bill (as in Kieser) on a count of me serving two years in Berlin, in the 80’s and serving in the old bill.. hope this helps.
Awesome scenery Bruce. Nice seeing parts of southeast England. Looks like a fun little bike. One question, why do you Brits mix units of measure do much? Feet and inches tall, stones for weight, seat heights in mm, bike weights in kg, distance in miles, volume in liters! Keeps me on my toes! Peace mate can’t wait to see the new bike for real! ✌🏻
Graden Scheiwe we went metric in 1971 and we’re still waiting forthe stubborn folk (who refuse to change) to die off. Human weight and height are still old money, as is the road network. Most other things are metric though
Nice new bike I had a curtacy RT1250 the other week and a massive improvement on a Good engine but I’ll stick with k1600 GA for know, It looks to be a good 125 and also fun runaround. But if I where in the market to buy I am staying away where possible from buying Product’s from China for obvious Resons. But it dose look to be a good affordable bike. Also Calemoto Nav is awesome finding loads of interesting routs. Good vid 👍
Cool little bike. I just down sized from a VFR800 (sorry Richy) to a VStrom 650. Initially was looking for another Tiger800 that I had some years ago but, the cost was too much. The VStrom although down on power hits every other mark bullseye. Sure, off the line is a little anemic but what a great ride. I can rip around in all day comfort and hey, it gobbles it up miles, not fuel. New name for the GS? I’m thinking Sabine. You know like the early 80’s German post punk band Trio song, “🎶🎶Sabine, Sabine, Sabine...🎶🎶”
I thought it was a good video and I personally have owned a Chinese bike and they truly aren't as bad as people say but it does depend on if you buy a lemon either new or secondhand. Either way I enjoy riding, chinese bike or not and this video has been great to watch matey. Keep up the good work!!👍🏾
Had a 2017 Lexmoto Viper 125cc after my CBT and i can honestly say it was a cracking bike! great to see you including the beginner class bikes as it still seems there's a stigma attached to them and chinese bikes in general. About to buy my first big bike since passing before the lockdown and have made it a goal to do the NC500 in the spring. bike name suggestion is Greta :D
Hi Bruce, great vid as usual!! That actually looks a good wee bike! I had a ksr grs (have you heard of it?) 125?when I was learning about 2 years ago and it was a great little bike too! Agree with you about going on duel carriage ways though!!👍
Living on the outskirts of London as I do small bikes make so much more sense. I’ve got one of the new Honda Monkey bikes and find I use it more than my big bikes. The sweet spot I think is the 250-500cc range so would love a test of something like the Versys 300
Nice one Bruce that looks like just the sort of bike to go exploring with the Calimoto App i could have done with it Sunday has the App took me down a couple of roads like you just did and on a big RT1200 No fun Lol. New Bike thought you had the new 1250 GS But the K.T.M. Did pass my mind to .
Bruce , knew you would get another GS after watching all your adventures on Helga. Love the channel! When you tour do you just take topcase, tankbag and rucksack ?
Practicing for a jousting tournament with that 360camera on the front? Nice drone shots, I thought they were very nice. The bike itself, it's not bad for a cheap 125 option, I think Sinnis makes some nicer-looking 125 (ie the rsx125 or that cruiser). I'm not really digging the adventure look, I doubt it does well off-road. I've seen bits of a couple that took this Terrain off-road in Mongolia but I would guess YMMV. You do get the extra boxes and the bars for when you learn (drop your bike) to ride which is something. Sinnis doesn't have a dealer network where I live. If I were younger and learning I suppose I'd rather get a used 125duke, CBF125 or MT125. Looking forward to the official introduction with that new bike, it looks amazing
Great ride out on the bike! Looks great bang per buck - I really like smaller bikes. A 1000cc RRRrrrrRrRrRrR is not really my thing :D Love the new bike! Looking forward to the review etc.
By eck Bruce your banging some hours in doing all these reviews and podcasts etc, great to see them mind!! Keep up the great work and really chuffed that it’s working out so well for ya after back-heeling the Rozzers😎✊🍺
Another great video, Bruce - always enjoy your content! Great edit and your vlogs are always both entertaining and informative! (Loving all the gadgets too!) - Stay safe buddy!
Helga’s gone, but no worries, she’s got a beautiful younger sister called Gerda, her name means protected! Good vid Bruce, the bike held up well - don’t think I’d want to do over 100 miles giving you a piggy back!😆
Fab stuff ☺, try tying a piece of string from say the fork to the 360 to stabilise the bounce. If you think it's safe. Would probably make a world Of difference. Luv that 360 camera
Excellent choice, I’m thinking of doing same especially with BMW px contribution offer, just hanging on to see if new colours for next year will be any better before I commit 🤔
I'd quite like to give this one a go! I the only 125cc I have ever ridden was on my CBT 5 years ago. Biking for me is about enjoying the ride, I'm not too fussed about super speed! Looks fun :D
I agree, quite a nice looking bike.. If only they'd stick a 250 to 400 engine in it!.. I don't get why the Chinese manufacturers seem to stick to the 125s so much, seems little departure from them. Its a shame as I'm sure the quality is picking up as the years roll by, but it's time to start moving onto bigger bikes in addition to the 125s for me personally. Great video kidda, Mark
Great review Bruce nothing wrong with that bike little bikes are great and gets more people biking I’d much rather ride that than public transport if that’s the option. Cheers
