Forma's are my current go to and would replace them with another pair if they wore out today. If for some reason I had to try another brand I would go with SIDI since I love my road race boots of theirs.
I like my TCX Drifters. They're so comfortable that I wish TCX made work boots. I have large calves (19") and they fit my leg with a little room to spare. I bought them last year from RM ATV MC.
Just bought the Sidi Adventure 2 boot after trying the Alpinestars Toucan first...The Sidi fits bigger calfs better despite the opening size. Also the width isn’t that narrow in my opinion either...I have a wide foot and I have no issues. Very comfortable out of the box and keep my feet bone dry in very wet conditions. Very happy with the Sidi boots!
I have the Alpinestars Belize Drystar Boots, they are shorter, yes, but when I do harder off-road I wear knee-shin guards with them for the added protection. Great boot so far, very comfortable and dry during wet riding. Well built boot.
Great video sir ! I walked into the Winchester Kentucky location and worked with Tyler and taylor on a full list for my ADV trip to Utah. Both were so helpful and patient. I tried on at least 4 different adventure boots in different sizes and decided on the Formas...incredibly comfortable and protective as well as usable for short hikes. Thank you to Rocky mountain ATV and your great staff for a great experience and helping me achieve an incredible journey.
@@rmatvmc great video! I would like to add though; could you show a rider/model showing the flex of the boots for comparison? Which boot would you say has the most heel/toe movement? As a shorter rider I want the protection of a full boot, but would like to be able to point my toes end downward when needed.
I have about 12,000 miles the Alpinstars Corazal and my only complaint is they squeak like skiboots when I walk. I spend alot of time standing while in the dirt on my 1200GSW and my feet are comfortable all day long. Protection is strong as I've kicked my share or rocks, roots, and occasionally the cylinder with my shin and am no worse for wear. My feet stay dry from the outside (mud, water crossings, rain, etc.) but, do sweat in warmer weather. In winter weather (Notheast, U.S.). I throw on some wool socks and I'm good to go. After all the abuse I've put them through they show very little wear beyond the usual character marks most ADV boots get. I'd happily buy them again though it doesn't look like I'll need to for a very long time!
I really like the Forma Terra. The boot is very stiff. But the support on the pegs is amazing. Not the best walking boot. But I traded that for protection.
I have both the short & long Forma ADV boots, waterproof & comfy but I did break my ankle when the bike feel on it last year, I ended up with Forma Terra Evo ADV boots, just a little stiffer, still water proof
Forma ADV lows on my feet. Only worn them a few times, but I'm liking them alot. I do tend to do a fair amount of off-the-bike roaming also, and these boots are great, even for a bit of hiking.
Very informative and Chase you are an excellent presenter. I have the alpinestars toucan and am very pleased with the boot to the extent that I wear it exclusively
I have the Alpinestars "Toucan" in use and it´s a definite winner! I have the Berik all terrain adventure boot in use, too and that one is a winner, too.
I have the previous version of the Falcos and they have a resolable sole . So when it wears out 100 dollars later I have a new boot . Also the waterproof liner is only 2" from the top not halfway . The ankle protection sold me , it is probably the strongest out there . To bad they all have bonded soles now , when it wears out the boot is trash when it really isn't . Same issue with all my hiking boots , sole wears out but the rest is fine . They do it to make you buy another pair in 6 months or 5 years depending on use . The shelf life for bonded boots are about 7 years before the glues are toast . So if the boot you buy has been on the shelf or in the box for 3 years you have at best 4 years of life . FYI . Really like my Falco boots but they need a top quality insole . The original ones lasted 750 miles on my bike and the last time out was rougher than it should have been , easy fix though .
The Forma Adventure boots are super comfortable. I own both the low and the high boots. Unfortunately I found out the hard way that they have zero ankle protection, so I upgraded to Alpinestars Tech 7 Enduros which are almost as comfy but have a lot more protection. Still use the Formas for quad riding, just don’t feel safe anymore with them on a bike offroad.
Agreed! That's what I was waiting to see. As a shorter rider, being able to comfortably point my toes downward at times makes all the difference; but also want the protection of a full boot.
Alpinestars customer service is absolutely terrible! Bought an adventure jacket/pants from them and leaked within 3 months. After a month of emails and phone calls they weren't willing to do anything about it. Sucks because I like their road race gear, but I'll never buy anything else from them. That being said, I absolutely love my Forma Adventure boots.
@@rmatvmc I would have thought a company as big as them would have had much better customer service. I've had to use Rocky Mountain's customer service and you guys always go above and beyond to take care of anything that comes up! 👌
I've had the Falco Advantour for a year and there great except for the buckle's there awful untill you figure them out the there just ok. I also have the Forma Adventure short boots. These are great for street or very light adventure riding and Hot days. If I had it to do over again in would have tall ones. Both boots are made well. The Forma's provide more protection and rigidity than you think with the ankle cup protectors. For walking the Falco' are slightly better. Which one? Buy at least 2 pair of boots so one dry out while your wearing the others. Note: Cedar shoe trees great to keep the stink away. Also I will not knowingly buy Boots made in China. My opinion only.
@@rmatvmc I would say that the Forma boots are slightly more aggressive with the lugs it feels and geared more towards comfort whereas the Alpinestars Corozol are a bit stiffer and feel a bit more protected. I can't decide which I like more! Both great.
Very good review, thank you! I use Alpinestar Corozal, twice in a last three years, for a long trips from south of Florida to NE. US. 4000++ miles. Last time I was couple of days in a rain, and they both FAILED. Left one was wet, but right one is like someone pouring cup of water inside occasionally. At the end of a day, I had to pour water out of it. Inspected boots, but couldn’t find where water is coming from! I suspect that underneath front fold, bottom end of tongue, water collect and leaks. Of course, warranty is expired and I won’t bother to contact manufacturer. They squeak and one of them slightly pinching at the ancle when walking. BTW, I had three layers over the booth cuff and I was riding in the rain 75-85 mph. In a dry and cold weather, it’s great boots. Bottom line, I WOULD NOT recommend Corozal booths as a water resistant choice.
Rocky Mountain ATV MC I don’t know for sure, will depend on a nature/destination of travel. Most likely, for a ALL WEATHER cross continent, “Toucan” Will keep my eyes on a YT reviews. BTW, I use 3M 5200 black adhesive and applied thin bid where sole is meeting upper part, and I pour good amount inside that bottom of thong/cuff hoping that water won’t leak inside. I should step inside some bucket with water for 15-30 min to test. I will use opportunity to ask YOU for recommendation on a WP three season adventure gloves. I never posted video, but wanted to do review on a bunch top $$$ gear that failed me, for example, I have IXS three season gloves, $180 that I can not put my hens inside. They gave me so much grief that I wanted to shred/cut them on a video as a favor to everybody. Even though they are like new, (outside) they totally get wet, even they are ALEGEDLY WP, and was pain in a@# to put hand inside when wet and that insulation membrane came out that I cannot put back. Piece of crap.
Do these offerings run true to size or run a little small or run a little big for fitment? Thanks! Love your vids and always look forward to seeing the notifications from you.
Most of these will be true to size. In the video description there are links to product spotlight videos on each individual boot where we talk more about sizing and fitment. So if you see one you're interested in definitely check out those videos. Hope that helps and thanks for checking out the video!
After my tek 10's backstrap broke on the 3rd ride ($625) I found out that Astar's warranty blows. It would be nice if a boot review listed if a brand has a warranty, also do they stand behind it. unlike Alpinestar....
Got a pair of Forca Dual Sport boots . Look a lot like these boots . The waterproof membrane is pretty high and the hinge system is great with loads of crush protection . Resolable also and were about 295 out the door . Haven't water tested them yet but that day will come . I think they are discontinued but I'm not sure .
I think they make them still. The name may have changed slightly. I think they're now called "EVO" or something like that. They've beefed up the hinge system from the originals.
@@andyblack5687 That's good to hear . Thanks for the info . I will do some research and see what the deal is . I can't say enough about how much I like them . Easy to walk in easy to slide in the knee/shin guard so you have even more protection quality construction comfortable with added insoles . For about 100 less than similar competitors what's not to like . Before I found these I bought Fox Comp 5 boots with some other gear when I bought my 2019 DR650 . Never wore them and I think I am putting them on Ebay . Then put that money into another pair like the Forcas and just have 2 pairs so one gets a chance to air out . Funk music is cool but funky feet/boots not so much .
@@andyblack5687 I am a moron . Just checked the box that my boots came in . Ah what I have are Falco Avantour boots . Man between Forma Falco Forca no wonder my slight dyslexia mind gets a little mixed up . Anyway I will look see if these are still available or did they change these also , I got them on sale because they were closeouts so who knows . Whatever the name is they are great boots ! Haha
@@hardworkingamerican8847 Hahaha. Plus they all look kind of similar and they only make the same model for a few years. Some of them seem to be the same product with different brand names. After a while it blows your mind.
I think there's no single design that's good at everything. IMO Daytona makes some of the best boots in the world (for everything short of hard offroad/MotoX). I have their ADV boots for touring and adv (light offroad). For the track I use Dainese Axial D1's (because the Daytona track boots were too $$$$ for my twice a year track adventures). I'm currently shopping for Enduro/Dirt boots since I just picked up a new 701 (bought some Oneal's to tide me over).
I had trouble getting my wide feet into a Sidi motocross boot so I’d probably go for the Alpinestars Toucan when looking for a premium dual sport boot. Right now my Tech 5s I got will have to do though.
Does it still make sense to go for a toucan over a Tcx Baja GTX or maybe a forma Adv Hdry ? & yes btw, the toucans can be used with a MX pants & we can enjoy some dual sport riding in them ? It won’t look weird with a MX pant ??
are you planning to do the same review including Sidi Mid Adventure 2 , Forma Terra Evo Low , alpinestar belize drystar and REV’IT Pioneer OutDry Boots for adventure riding please?
Nobody gives any information about how the boots perform in very hot conditions! I have a pair of Toucans witch are boiling to wear in the summer. Please could you do a video on ADV boots for hot conditions
To be honest, pretty much every ADV boot is going to be warm in hot conditions, especially being waterproof. Even a motocross boot that isn't waterproof will get hot. I would ask this question on the product page of the boots and you can get feedback from customers who are using them.
Thanks for the video I have a narrow foot so according to this video the only boot that would work for me is a CD and I know they make a great boot but I refuse to pay that kind of money so the forma it's considered a wide boot as the rest of them correct
Is there such a thing as a "breathable" boot for hot summer riding? If it's got a waterproof lining or Gore Tex, it will probably keep your feet dry when it rains, but when it's hot and your sweating, will it "breath" and not make your feet feel extra hot because it traps the heat inside?
It definitely won't breath as well as a non waterproof boot. We've done several rides in some really hot conditions and all our boots are waterproof and our feet do just fine.
The Forma boot also comes in a dozen other 'brands', exactly the same boot. They come out of china and you'll pay more like $150-200 - you're paying $80 for the name "forma" and no other benefit.
Which boots do you recommend for folks with wide, thick, hot and sweaty feet. The Forma just fit. The Klim squeeze the "bunyon area" just behind the toes.
@@rmatvmc thank you. Tried the Toucan. Good solid rigid boot. My feet got hot in it quite quickly and it's more than what I would like to spend. The Forma Terrain TX Enduro looks like a winner.
Why get adventure boots when mx boots over vastly superior protection per dollar. I would not want to be wearing a flexible adventure boot and having a 500lb adventure bike fall over on your leg.
Most adventure boots will have a more aggressive sole design and more ankle flex to make walking around easier and more comfortable than what a motocross boot would offer.
First pair of Sidi Adventure lasted 7 years, bike was 2006 GSA with stock sharp footpegs. The soles need replacing but aged evenly on the left boot, and the gear shift top plastic protector has broken off on the toe box. Second pair lasted... not even 2 years. Bike is now a 2014 GSA with upgraded spring-loaded plastic-middle-bits BMW footpegs. VERY sharp. Got a hole in my left boot's sole. No one wants a wet left foot in the middle of a 24 hours/1000 miles ride. Surely those experts at BMW Motorrad R&D must have tested various types footwear when developing their over-priced frame branches? Am I getting new boots as an apology?... Oh, and please, mister Sidi... MAKE THAT F*CKING SQUEEEEEEAAAKIIIING STOP!!!
