This is a very good video. Just a heads up most 90s shirts didn't have side seams so it's not as good of a quality for a vintage look. It's an easy-tell for bootlegs. As someone looking for "close" blanks and not trying to pass them off as vintage these are awesome.
see I think Shaka Wear feels pretty good. not as soft as LA Apparel but my problem with LA is the width is good but their shirts are always too short. I love that Shakas shirts are actually long unlike a lot of other blanks I have tried in the past.
Thank you for making this bro it helped solidify my thoughts on going with shaka. I was wondering what blank half evil was using for their shirts and I can bet it’s Shaka wear. I love the fit and it’s not as restricting or heavy as a pro club.
I love the LA apparel fit, but I really don’t like the neck ribbing, it’s too tight and feels weird. I have some cool shirts that use that blank but unfortunately find myself avoiding them when I’m not in the mood for being choked lol.
i get that. that is why on some of the LA Apparel blanks I cut the collar. like the shirt I am wearing in the video. the blank has top stitching around the collar so it prevents it from fraying if you do want to cut the collar
Dude, thank you so much for this video. I'm printing shirts for my short film and I really wasn't liking the recommendations my screenprinter sent me. These are way better options!
i havent personally tried the champion heritage blank. but champion was left out of the video because the champion C logo that is unremovable. I believe that this could take away from the brand identity of a start-up as it may be hard for consumers to form a relationship with the startup brand instead of champion. this is a completely personal opinion and others make think differently and have great success using champion as a blank
@@landensaunders8156 yes, valid point. But there are a few brands that have left the C on. I have some ratgirl, indvlst, and some smaller Korean brands that use champion blanks. Also the quality for price is high, and the fit is good for all body types
@@grimecrimetime i didnt even know that it was possible to take the C off. thanks for educating me on that. and you are certainly right that the quality and the fit you get for the price point are great
@@Felix-nz1ll you should. the LAA 1801GD with the cut collar is one of my favorite shirts to wear as a blank. just be careful that you do not cut into the stitching when cutting the collar. i also cut the bottom hem of the shirt but the shirt rolls up because it's a knit garment, but i like that aesthetic
Glad to read that you found the video helpful. And no I have not tried the Shaka Wear Adult 6 oz Active Tee. I am currently looking at it on their website. Seems like it would be a pretty good blank, but it just depends on how you want to position your brand and the identity you want to reflect through your garments. I would be willing to pick one up and make a video about it if that would be helpful.
Now I am curious what your thoughts are on Original Favorites? I have been using their tees but I am wondering if you have the same opinion on them as I do.
my great-grandmother. It is a saint Christopher she gave me when I was a baby to protect me. I don't know where she got it from. sorry, i know that's not the answer you were looking for.
Great attention to detail! It was the LA Apparel vintage black and I cut the collar and bottom hem off. I enjoy wearing wide collars and shirts that lack structure at times.
Awesome stuff. Only knock I got on my Los Angeles Ap stuff I have is sizing and collar width can be a bit inconsistent. Also my comfort color shirts are mad different in length for some reason
I noticed that too with the LA Apparel. Seems that the pigment-dyed shirts run a little smaller than the garment-dyed ones. Maybe that is an issue with shrinking in the wash. I am not sure, I'm going to have to observe that a little better. And comfort colors I don't really use but I could easily see them have some sizing disparities.
@@landensaunders8156 i just bought a couple of LA Apparel shirts. Can confirm that the Pigment Dyed Tees appeared to be one whole size smaller compared to the Garment Dyed Tees. Thought it was a one off sizing issue so I exchanged them but the shirts they sent me again still had the sizing issue.
It's the LA Apparel 1801 GD in vintage black and then cut the collar and hem off. I plan to make one again to update this video and I plan to make one on hoodies as well. So stay on the lookout for those.
I think the best streetwear shirt blank is the LA Apparel 1801GD. But there are always new streetwear blanks popping up and there are plenty of other good alternatives. But as of right now I believe that the quality you get from the LA Apparel 1801GD at its price, makes it the best streetwear shirt blank
All the shirts are garment dyed but some are pigment dyed. Pigment dyeing is under the category of garment dyeing go to the appropriate timestamp in the video to understand the difference. The Cotton Heritage and ComfortWahs blanks are all garment dyed. The Port and Company, LA Apparel, and Comfort Color are garment-dyed or pigment-dyed based on color. And then ShakaWear is pigment-dyed.
would you have any ideas on how to dye your own shirts at home? i've tried so many different things, but in the end i just get a whole color shade change (from black to grey/brown) and not the vintage look where it has some grey/white peppering throughout the shirt. anything helps! appreciate it
im not too sure man. seems like something you are going to have to spend a good amount of time researching. if i were to recommend anything i would say just to make sure that the dye you are purchasing is a pigment dye and then after a few good washes the color should wash in to give it the vintage effect. you could also try doing your own mineral wash.
Idk if you’ve picked up the new drop shoulder Shaka wear year I just got a couple blanks in each color and I will say they’re pretty badass, same thick heavy feel (which I like) longer sleeves as well shorter and it honestly feels a bit wider too
@@landensaunders8156 Ahhhh yes I did hear u mention that. The way u did that is very nice. Looks well done thank u. Ill try it out. Looking forward to more videos. Maybe even a diy on that collar haha
you have to apply for a wholesale account with them. I think you need proof of a seller's permit. wholesale is meant for business to business transactions
@@landensaunders8156 thanks for replying bro well im just making some designs and would like to put them on shirts to give to some friends and wear myself on some vintage blanks. Might go with the shaka wear ones with the drop shoulder you mentioned theyre $15 each lol but they seem good quality
@@santibear8578 i still have not ordered any of those shaka wear blanks but they definitely look super sick and they are good quality. you could also look into getting a sellers permit. super easy to do and you may need one in the future if you want to sell clothes
@@santibear8578 just received these shakawear blanks and am extremely disappointed in the quality. I bought 6 t shirts each sharing the same flaw of having a very stretched out neck and loose stitching. Also the proportions are terrible in that the length is short and the body and sleeves are extremely wide. I highly recommended against getting the shakawear tees.
