@@JeffreyLin hi. Do you suffer with eczema. I have had eczema since birth. I'm now 59. The nearest I have got to a cure is the inner skin of the Banana. Rub it well into your skin and leave for thirty minute, then wash off. It's amazing. Good luck from Ireland
Thanks for the suggestion. Yes I have one of the most severe cases on eczema on the planet. Unfortunately, my eczema is part of a very complex immune issue where I’m allergic to everything (literally) including bananas. Thanks for the suggestion, maybe it’ll help others who come across your comment
@@JeffreyLin thank you so much for posting this and teaching me. I feel like I learned a lot and this is very useful as I suffer from sinusitis and eczema as well, I am fortunate to not have severe flare ups of eczema but when I have bad flares I use “Vanicream hydrocortisone” cream and it’s been helpful for itchiness and redness. Anyways, I learned a lot from your video and will definitely be looking into to getting these! I’m sorry you are going through this every day, thank you for using your story to help those around you 🙌🏽 you are awesome! Keep make more!
If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. ru-vid.comUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!
I would like to thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am 55 years old and have suffered from allergies and eczema all my life. They told me my eczema was stress related but it only occurred during change of seasons, thank you for clearing up what I always thought, my allergies and my eczema went hand in hand. I suffer most during spring and fall...the older I get the less claritin and zyrtec and flonase are no longer working...I cannot afford to replace my air conditioner (it is 20 years old) and we live in Las vegas, I know it is causing tons of problems for me. So I will buy a air purifier for my bedroom...hopefully this will save me from sneezing and running nose all night long. I am truly exhausted and at my wits end....thank you for your help.
Hey Jackie, glad to get your comment and to connect with you! My eczema and my asthma have improved miraculously since I started the new treatment Dupixent over 2 years ago. It’s not a steroid or immunosuppresant. It simply tweaks our immune so our skin and breathing becomes normal. Normal just means our skin will still react when there’s danger, but won’t overreact if there’s no reason to. See if you can try it based on either eczema or asthma requirements: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I63OBE7u10k.html
@@JeffreyLin I will bring that up to my ENT doc next appt. Thank you! I just ordered my air filter with your link, hope it works! I wish I could replace my ac unit but that is just not in the cards right now! Some day!! Stay strong and stay safe during this pandemic!!
Hope the air filter helps! If not, u can return it to amazon. I also have a more expensive Honeywell model HPA600B, but didn’t recommend it in the video because of the cost. While both are HEPA, the 600B has better carbon pre-filter for chemicals & odors.
Isn't that annoying? Doctors always passing everything off as "stress". I know stress is really bad for health, but there's usually something else going on that the stress is making worse. I hope you feel better!
@Jackie Deg when zyrtecs used to work effectively, how often did you take them? Do you take them everyday, or each time a flare up happens, or only on severe flareups? I'm in my 30s now, and hearing your story I worry that one day my zyrtecs won't be working anymore and that would be agony! I used to limit my use only on severe days, but lately I kinda get tired of doing that, and using them on milder symptoms as well. But if you've been using it as a routine, and later affect their efficacy in the long run, maybe I should use them less.
I came across this video after searching for best air purifiers. I was expecting more of a comparison between several different air purifiers, but I have to say your sincerity given your condition is so very welcome. Also your expertise and research is also evident. In the end, an air purifier is really not much more than a large fan pushing air through a filter, so your comments on the importance on the type of filter being used, specifically HEPA filters, makes a lot of sense, but the other end of it is more of those less important aspects of quality: noise, durability, customer service of the company, etc. However, I think those other elements are implicit in your review. All in all, your video has made me really consider the Honeywell, and made it mandatory that I get a True HEPA filter model without ionic cleaning. Thanks a lot.
Hey Zermelo, thanks for your comment! I’m glad you found the video helpful. There’s actually other HEPA air purifiers I have but they’re a bit more expensive so I started with the filter that I thought was the best for people with a limited budget. I also have the Honeywell 600B HEPA air purifier which has better carbon pre-filters and lasts longer. I also have the IQair. I’ll try to do reviews of these soon.
Just been made aware that a lot of these air purifiers only clean the air within a few feet of them. Indipendant tests show that the air quality reading is double and some than what the unit display is reading on the air cleaner. Ill keep you posted on more findings my friend 👍
Totally agree. That’s why I mention using a unit that’s rated for a space much larger than your room. Also, the direction and strength of the fan affects the airflow path. These Honeywell ones I show are pretty good because they move air in a circular motion instead of straight. If you use it in a room smaller than the rating, it’ll do a fantastic job of cleaning all the air in that room.
Im just starting my research into air polution within the home. My son has Asthma and alergies so anything that will help him (especialy in the evnings). I've worked in class 100 cleanrooms before and i've heard about the clean enviroment in the healthcare proffesion. Love from across the pond 👍
Thanks for stopping by and saying hi! Also check out my allergy mask guide if you haven’t already (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xOJF9-TNbAg.html ). It seems kids who grow up in big cities tend to get asthma and allergies vs kids who grow up in rural areas. Not sure if it’s the pollution in big cities or our lack of exposure to more nature that would stimulate our own immune system to grow correctly.
Thank you so much been suffering a few weeks brother moved in with his dog and having asthma attacks breathing issues everyday been to the doctors several times nothing will work not even asthma pills I was prescribed too I'm a non smoker too even my inhailer won't work just purchased this praying this will help me out I live in a house with mold in the basement junk from the family living here that was surrounded by cats may all be in the air also it's an old house carpet is 32 years old too can't wait to give a review on here after using it for a week keep the good work up just liked and subscribed :)
Hey man, sorry to hear how rough it’s been. These filters should help, but also if you’re surrounded by so many triggers, you’ll feel much better if you’re able to move to a clean and new environment. These filters are like a bandaid, but you need to solve as many triggers at the source of the problem. I know it’s hard to make big life changes though. I also have to use these masks on certain days: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xOJF9-TNbAg.html Best of luck and keep me posted.
I struggle with moderate to severe asthma, pretty constant allergies to most environmental factors and eczema more like the wet kind you described. This was a really useful video for trying to find the best air purifier for my room thank you
I sincerely hope that you can find some treatment that can help you. It sounds like you have had a very difficult life so far, I truly hope that things can become easier for you & that you begin to feel happier & comfortable. Thank you for giving your time to make this video.
Thanks Jeffrey, i got sick from house mold, we moved in a new condo which was filled with dust, insulation particles and voc`s. Was there for 2 days and my eyes and nose were killing me. We got a Philips air purifier AC2939/10 with true hepa and activated carbon, saved my life. Now the air inside is better than it is outside
Hope it helps! I also have the Honeywell HPA600b. The air is fresher but it’s also much more expensive, so I didn’t include it in this video. If you decide you need something better than the HPA300 and can return it, the HPA600b is a good alternative to try.
I just stumbled across your channel. Thank you for sharing your personal health issues. I had a friend with eczema and I felt terrible for him. I wish you all the best!
@@JeffreyLin My friend said the same thing to me. He says it's so painful he cries in the shower. It pains me to know there are people suffering every day. I can only imagine you wake up praying it was just a bad dream. =( I actually have my own health problem with my heart. I have PAC and PVC's. Basically, my heartbeats skip or pause to put it in simple terms. If I work out I feel like I'm going to pass out. I wish we lived in a perfect world.
I appreciate this video. I just purchased the Honeywell HPA 100. I'm moving into my dad's house and he has an older house and it's not very ventilated. I have allergy asthma and I believe I'll benefit using this air purifier.
Mr. Lin, Thank you for sharing your condition and turning a negative into a strength. It is very commendable in what you are doing. I for one was not aware of all these specific air filter issues and how they affect us. I trust you as a subject matter expert with your lifelong battle. Your knowledge is assisting me to protect my family members who have increased medical issues, but nothing like your level. Please continue to drive on with sharing your knowledge and doing other great things. Again, thank you and God bless you.
Hi Mr. Mendiaz, thanks so much for the kind words and support. Hope this video was helpful! Be strong when dealing with medical issues and stay safe as best you can.
I have been running a Whirlpool Whispure Air Purifier (Model AP51030K) every night in my bedroom for 11 years now, it is the best air purifier I've owned. I got one for my mom too. I vacuum off the carbon filter weekly to remove the cat hair, I find that makes both of the filters last longer. It makes a good seal unlike my cheaper Holmes (not recommended) that I had in college, the air and crud went right past the filter, I could tell because of the dust that collected on the fan past the filter. The Whirlpool is still clean inside past the filter, so it is catching all of the stuff! I already had asthma, but now I have a much worse fibrotic lung disease post-Covid 😕 I survived spring, so that is a good sign. If I'm feeling extra crappy, I close myself in my room and run that air cleaner on "turbo".
Hi. Like you I'm dealing with some not so fun health issues. So I really do feel for you.... Life can be such a struggle. But my question is, have you noticed much of a difference between your much more expensive iqair versus the Honeywell? Is it worth it? I read the iqair is much better at dealing with vocs and odors.... Have you found this to be the case? Thank you for your time, and I hope this message finds you doing well
Hey Patrick, I feel each machine model is different, even from the same brand. My IQair healthpro is best at cleaning particles and smoke particles, but I feel my Honeywell HPA 600B has the freshest air (better for VOCs and odors) due to the better carbon pre-filter.
Thank you so much! I am a new mom, my son has severe eczema. He is always scratching and at night it gets worse. Because I have allergies to pollen and dust myself I know it has to be the air in my house that just won’t help him get better. I am just now learning about air filter but considering the prices, marketing scams, and my lack of knowledge I have been hesitant to buy. This video has helped so much. Thank you and I hope you continue to do well.
Thanks for the support Tammy! I’ve found I do well in Northern Europe such as France or Holland. I try to go there when I can, but my doctors are here and my case is too unique and rare to find other doctors I trust.
For 16 years I’ve had eye pain and forehead sinus pressure accompanied with nasal congestion. It has ruined my life. Had surgery. Antibiotics. Been debilitating. I’ve been tested for allergies and test results show I have none. I will give this a try. Thank you for the vid.
Hey, sorry to hear you haven't found something that works. What kind of allergy test did you do? You should get the IgE (immunoglobulin E) test for overall allergy as well as for individual allergens you may react to.
Hey Lin, Thank you so much for your opinion, it helped me big time. I would like to purchase Winix Tower XQ instead of HPA600B Hope you are doing better sir, Blessing
Thanks for sharing, Jeffrey. Stay strong! I just ordered the Awair and can't wait to check how my air purifiers are performing. I have a few smaller size purifiers and haven't gotten around to buying a large one. What do you think about using two smaller units in a large room? For example, would two 150 CADR units be equivalent to one 300 CADR unit?
Air purifier, humidifier, roomba vacuum and steam cleaner really had a huge effect on my quality life. These expensive machines even SAVED ME MONEY because I needed less rescue medications.
I am so happy I came across this video while searching for air purifiers for my 8year old daughter. She has asthma, severe allergies and severe eczema. We are taking her to an allergist soon to figure out what all she is allergic to. Investing in some air purifiers and hope it helps her some or alot. Loosing sleep bc of her scratching so badly at night. Do you use a humidifier? I have the old school honeywell Kaz humidifier, wondering if I should look into a different version or if these are good to use. So deeply sorry you have to go through this daily.
So sorry to hear your daughter has both eczema and asthma. I was born with both as well. Humidifiers help if the cause of asthma is dryness causing irritation. If asthma is caused by some allergic reaction, humidifiers won’t help as much. There’s lots of causes so it’s hard for me to diagnose which it is she has
Also make sure you get enough humidity in the air. Lungs need moisture, so when it gets too dry with the heater or cold air, your lungs may get irritated, flare up, and cause asthma.
I use a 20 inch box fan and 2 furnace filters on it. 1 11 merve and a 1 2400 strength furnace filter. They're way better than a HEPA filter. I'm probably going to add a uvc light inside the Fan and a metal bracket so the filters can slide in. I'll probably add a carbon material layer between the 2 furnace filyers. Right now the filters fit perfectly and they hold via the air pressure. You should RU-vid "box fan filter test / results). The pros were saying its basically the best you can get ( filter wise and money-wise) when compared to the big brands.
Thank you so much: my neighbours woodburner is causing a severe reaction, burning eyes, chest tightness and heart fluttering... finding a suitable air purifier is a must.
thanks for your video friend, you are helping people. my son is not as allergic but he does suffer in spring (me too) so i am getting two HPA300. Thanks
Hey, thank you for such a detail and informative reviews. A few questions, 1. What do you do when you are in school, do you bring something portable? 2. I live in an 800 sq ft 2 bedroom apartment, should i buy an extra large filter in the middle of the apaelrtment or do i need one in each room?
Haha I’m pretty old...haven’t been in school for a long time. When I go out now, I have a special mask ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xOJF9-TNbAg.html ). Yes, you should have 2 air filters for your apartment. As I said in the video, the room size matters. You need the air to be trapped inside a confined space with the air filter so that the air can be cleaned several times per hour. If the space is too big, some parts of the air doesn’t get cleaned.
Wow, thank you for sharing and contributing your story and your research in this. My allergy/asthma suffering has increased severely lately so looking for videos on purifiers brought me here. Much respect to you, and thanks again!
God bless you for this review Jeffrey. I have been looking at air purifiers for the last six months and have looked at many reviews and RU-vid videos and ended up being more confused as to the best air purifier to buy. I had narrowed it down to the pricey Dyson because my sister-in-law had two but read reviews that Dyson was not that great an air purifier. Thank you for your honest review, and I am going with the Honeywell. Stay safe and I hope all is well with you.
Hi Bonnie, there are other brands and models out there that are good. As I mentioned in the video, just focus on true HEPA. The carbon pre-filter also matters a lot. These Honeywell models in this video aren’t the best, but they are very good for their price range. I also have a more expensive Honeywell 600B and IQAir healthpro that are more powerful. Alenair air purifiers are also great, but I don’t have one
I own the extra large black Honeywell he has here and 2 large ones for the bedrooms, one being mine and soon to be my newborns room. Currently it’s the dogs room. It doesn’t remove the dog smell though
Hey! I have suffered with this ‘phantom’ allergy thing since forever. It’s made my life hell and I’ve had failed sinus surgery. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, which is an auto immune disease. I’ve also got terrible joint and muscular pain. The allergy symptoms are just as bad; headaches, permanently bloody nose and mucous. I came across your channel just now, I wish you all the best from a fellow sufferer. I’ve just purchased the 300 series from Levoit :) hoping it will help. Thanks for the video.
Hi Jeffrey, how do you like those Honeywell systems? My room had a lot of dust for some reason (I think it’s my memory foam mattress) but I am looking for a purifier to remove the dust and keep my room clean. also thanks for your video on your condition. I hope you life becomes easier as we get new technology!
Hi Kappa, these Honeywell systems in this video work pretty well, but the higher end Honeywell HPA 600B ( amzn.to/2tNrf9U ) has been the best for me. Better at cleaning odors and the sensors are very good at detecting even the smallest amount of dust, particles, micro skin flakes.
