Red Roberts, being in shape and being careful about what you put in your body eating right and exercising is it actually the exact opposite of being selfish I've taught my children had to take care of themselves they are all beautiful children in fact all three of them work with me and so does my girlfriend Christie there's absolutely no other lifestyle I'd rather live. I do exercise almost every day at least 30 minutes sometimes 40 but never more than an hour and that doesn't take away from my family time in fact it makes me a better more well-adjusted physically present person when I'm with them both of my parents died young at 59 and 62 because they didn't take care of themselves they drink and smoke that's my definition of being selfish is when you don't take care of yourself and you're not there for the people you love... if you're in terrible shape it's never too late to start and to extend your life 55 is the new 35

@@relevation0 The very first year of the 2nd gen, 2008 there were issues with pistons/rings/cylinders that resulted in excess oil consumption for some people.

The KLR especially the second generation like this is a street bike with high fenders. It is marginally better than a Vstrom off road as it weighs way too much at 432 lbs., and because of the stock gearing slow speed technical riding is out of the question. His comment about riding it on a moto cross track was a good one as the bike had no resemblance to anything you would ride on a track. One aggressive lap and you may have a broken bike or body, or both, Lol.

Yes, I found my 2008 would use oil on multi-hour interstate riding. Around town and commuting no oil burning. The weight is good for adventure touring as it can get windy on the long open roads.

Sprocket kit n thick oil don't use to much fuel offrd it's lighter then. Huge gas tank n big seat

Suzuki is a better off road bike but the Kawi is better on road bike. Both the Suzuki and Honda are more powerful.

Didn't he say over $9,000? That is way way too much as the list price was never over $7,000 msrp. I bought my 2008 on sale that year for around around $5,000 if I recall. It was Kawasaki's best selling bike for a few years. If you look at cycle trader you can still find these in the crate for sale under $6,000. This used bike though nice is worth between $5-6,000.

He said these are great wheelie bikes, Lol. I had one and you would need to do some heavy clutching to get the front wheel off which if done often would wear out the clutch. These are pigs of a bike at 432 lbs.

They are a great street bike and work commuter. I sold my 2008 4-years ago with 53,000 miles. My best mpg was 61 though I ran Michelin Anakee's and a low front UFO fender.

Had an 04 KLR 650 new. Bike had quite a life. Took it everywhere. It's really one the most versatile dual sport bikes made.
