The character development Alphinaud underwent is truly admiring and remarkable. He went from the most annoying character to one of my favourite Scions to venture with.
Remember that one time one of the Devs said he was basically a Redditor that needed to touch grass at first but eventually did touch grass and developed into a lovable character? Yeah I’m inclined to agree lmao
I think he finally became less selfish when his little army fell apart. going into heavensward is when I finally really started connecting with him on a person level.
Alphinaud had the best character development in FFXIV in my opinion. He went from the character I was ready to throw off an airship, to my little brother who I'm more emotionally attached to than anyone else in this game. Seriously, someone messes with him, the Warrior of light is willing to rip their spine out through their throat.
Everyone talks about Thancred essentially becoming Rynes dad but nobody talks about the WoL becoming Alisae and Alphinaud’s new older sibling. We would go through hell and back for Alphinaud and Alisae after Shadowbringers
I never noticed that in Shadowbringers/Endwalker, his voice is definitely deeper pitched than in Heavensward! I'd love to see the twins as they grow older now
Alphinaud truly went from an arrogant, idealistic boy, to a young man who genuinely wishes to do good, realising that he cannot do that alone and admitting to his mistakes. I think all of us started off wanting to throw em overboard, but now the twins are possibly the two people I feel like I have the closest connection to. I love em, like little siblings I never had, and I think will anything ever happen to either of them, it would genuinely tear my heart apart. Every time i saw them sad, I really just wished I had the option to hug them, tell them it's gonna be okay.
Starting the game I thought Alphinaud was nothing more than an entitled annoying brat. Going more into the game with him, I can't even imagine XIV without him anymore. Dude went from arrogant kid to one of the better people actually trying to do something good.
From an annoying pompous arse to a humbled man who strived to be better. Not my favorite character but undoubtedly had the best of the best character development
I only know all of their voices in German since its my native language and I played the game in German but damn Alphinaud his voice is so good. His German voice sounds very dorky and the English one sounds so formal haha
Alphinaud is one of the best characters in the series imo I felt the Dev that made the comment agreeing he was a redditor who needed to touch grass missed the whole point of his character as does a lot of people who didn't like him. He's a sixteen year old kid not some grown man who stepped up to help the WOL when all of the scions were kidnapped successfully with the WOL's and Cid's help do what no one else had done deal a crushing defeat to the empire. Of course he grew a big head and thought he could solve the world's problems like some sort of short sighted MC, all of his mistakes and "redditor" takes is due to a teen's ego until he gets his reality check when the adults who have life experience come out to play and it seems all of the Scions are dead or missing with just Him, WOL, and Tataru being all that's left. ARR ends with his ego being ultimately shattered and the realization that he was just a teen playing hero when he knew so little of the actual world and it's people, sure he was book smart but he had no life experience, it's not wonder Illberd easily took command under his nose dude is 44 years old with way more life experience and war experience. Heavensward is one of my favorite expansions as it touches on so many different aspects but it's also when Alphinaud grows as a person through Estinien acting as a sort of father figure (Dudes 32 btw) and begins to realize what it means to be an adult. It's why his character changes and develops so much, he's not just some adult making dumb decisons like a 30 yr old redditor he's a Teenager who does what a Teenager does and makes stupid decisions during a time when people are dumb, short sighted, and have big dreams without having the life experience to understand what goes into those dreams, and to not make reckless decisions, and due to the constant tragic events he's surrounded by he's forced to grow up fast. Personally it's this writing choice I enjoyed about FFXIV the character's are believable for their age groups in the fantasy setting they've made, and Alphinaud is an example of a character who the community is far to harsh on at first because they seem to forget he's supposed to be a Teenager, and anime has ruined many people's perception of realistic portrayals of Teens in fantasy media I think is a big part to blame.
Someone help me confirm I’m not crazy. I swear I saw a scene where Alphinaud was passed out on the beach and Alisaie was over him trying to shake him awake. Or am I imagining things? It was after a big event
Why are the character designs in this so awful?!? That little person with the hood that used to be the elf’s teacher looks like some doll nightmare fuel And the “warrior of light” looks like a slightly less creepy doll. And I don’t mean “doll” in some cute way. But like an actual toy.
@@LowIntSpecimen because they were designed to look that way. That’s what character design is. When I said “why are the character designs so awful?” I meant “why did they make the decision to make them look that way?” They could’ve made them look another way. Most any other way would better
