I would have picked the m1 carbine. 20 round mags like the thompson but way lighter package. You can hold way more rounds on your person due to lighter ammo. It is and intermediate cartridge and great from close range to 200 yards. It is slightly more powerful than 357 magnum so no issues with knockdown if you do your part. It is a more modern gun than all the rest. Great for room clearing to medium range. Also it was available with a night vision scope. Heh The thompson is good but it is a boat anchor and those 45 rounds are not great at range. The m1 carbine is seriously the most versatile. My second choice would be a m1D garand.

People who will say the Thompson or BAR have prob never humped gear in the military.. They are waayyyy to heavy for what they are... The M1 Garand is a great gun and was the best standard rifle in the war no doubt.. However it was also not best suited to urban or jungle fighting I would 100 percent choose the M3 Grease Gun from this selection, and if the M1 Carbine is included then its a 50/50 tie... Both guns are lightweight and easy to use within 90 percent of combat (less then 200 yards) both are easy on follow on shots and recoil control.. Both have excellent mag capacity..

It's disappointing you don't have the gun most soldiers were armed with in ww2. The m1 carbine. Probably would have preferred that over the others. Considering it had roughly the same omph as a carbine lever gun shooting 357mag, and it wasn't a bitch to lug around, soldiers spent more time lugging than fighting in ww2. The reliability issue that people complain about the gun was due to the mags made for it which were never designed to be used 50 years after manufacture they were designed to be used a few times and pitched, and unfortunately no modern makers make decent ones either. Used during ww2, it was as reliable as the other options.

Old thread, I know, but I have watched enough of your shorts now that I started watching your longer videos. I am curious why you would not have the M1 Carbine even be an option if you had one. Given your comment that you would pick the 1928 A1 because of utility in street fighting situations, double stack easier to load magazine, and versatility of the sights over the fixed peep/notch site of the M1A1; the M1 Carbine has all of those. The 30 cal ball packs a hefty punch, the gun is way lighter than the 1928 A1 (or any Thompson for that matter), has a double stack magazine, runs like a dream for days, but is short, easy to wield, and when you need the extra reach, had a good sight adjustable for windage and distance, and could reach out a decent ways. The M1 Carbine saw usage not only in WWII, but through Korea and Vietnam, whereas the Thompson’s production stopped in 1944 due to cost, weight, and overall firearm complexity. So, I will circle around, why not have the M1 Carbine ever be your option?
@willsmith8576
@willsmith8576 2 года назад
I see looking through other comments that others shared my thought that the M1 Carbine, or the M2 with select fire, would have been a good option. I don’t see anyone ask you outright why you said you wouldn’t select it even if you had one on the wall. Anyways, I have two M1 Carbines in my collection, and they are a great little gun.
