Today I have another experiment for you. I will be reviewing 4 different glues for metal to stones: Epoxy Glue, B-7000 Glue, Gorilla Glue and Crazy Glue. Which one do you think it is the strongest? These are not just any glues, these are the most common glues you can find in craft stores which are pretty good. This video has been requested by a number of you so I hope this video will help you out to pick the best glue for your needs.

What is the name of the 2 part epoxy please?
@jennifercook9514
@jennifercook9514 Месяц назад
@@darrenward9543 These glues are actually labeled as "Two-Part Epoxy". I found Loctite Two-Part Epoxy at the Dollar Tree. Gorilla also carries a brand. Not sure if brand matters with that particular combo as it's simply equal parts of two ingredients. Each brand will provide different applicators that may lead to you choosing a different brand.

This was super helpful! I'm surprised there are so few likes when it's a video that actually does what's advertised. Also, can someone PLEASE tell me which 2 part epoxy was used in this test? I expected the different glue names to be listed in the description but they weren't and it's really hard to see what 2 part epoxy that is from the video.

Wow! Thank you for this comment! You've made my day. I get very few likes for my boring info share videos; perhaps they're not sexy enough and I'm not screaming into the camera. It is a wonderful idea to list out the brands and I completely forgot to do this - thank you for reminding me. I'm going to update my captions in a moment. Meanwhile, the 2 part expoxy is Adhaer. I got it at a local hardware store and now the dollar store carries the exact thing - only the packaging has $3.50 printed on it. I've used the dollar store epoxy and it works perfectly. I hope this helps.

Thank you! I've actually used hypo cement years ago for my jewelry making. I recall it was not as strong and took a lot longer to dry - certainly compared to 2 part epoxy. At some point I will try again, especially as they come out with new brands.

Excellent demonstration.... I have been trying for 2 weeks to glue some metal to some beads .... different types of beads, wood, Stone, glass, and they keep coming apart... so I tried an epoxy... I guess I didn't stir it up good enough... then I tried to gorilla glue epoxy/resin and it came a loose... I tried E7000... that didn't work... So I went on RU-vid and try to find something for metal on metal... so I need something for stainless steel on different types of metal ... on different types of beads... So I have the epoxy resin... so I'm glad I saw yours... now I'm going to see if the metal glue works... Thank you so much 🙏

Do you think 2 part epoxy will work well in affixing silk fabric to cured resin. And also aux leather to cured resin.
@stonesandfindings
@stonesandfindings Месяц назад
I've never tried it with fabric, but it works on leather. Maybe I should plan on another video of trying all sorts of combinations of materials to bond using 2 part epoxy. Thanks for this video idea.

Jewellery does not need much pull strenght. There are other important factors, like durability over time. I have used several glues to attach billiard cue leather tip and I got best longevity with B-7000. This glue is soft, flexible and impact resistant. I have also used epoxy to attach a stone into a ring, and the stone fell off later. Strongest is not the best.
@stonesandfindings
@stonesandfindings 11 месяцев назад
Great point! It's too bad your stone fell out with the 2 part epoxy - it is the gold standard for the Korean factories that glue the pave Swarovski crystals on the high end hair ornaments and jewelry.

@@stonesandfindings Epoxy glue may fail with plastic pearls and stones. Real stones should fix well. However, it is better to google if certain epoxy glue works and is used in real life for jewellery.

One thing I have learned with all of the glues and 2 part epoxies is that the air and object temperatures makes a huge difference. First they don’t stick well and if it is supposed to be clear, it dries cloudy, it actually clouds up right away. I only know this because I am trying to find a good glue, they prefer temps in the higher 70’s. I guess that would be why some say not to use it in certain temperatures, some of us don’t think some directions don’t apply to them, so we are taught a lesson. Maybe one day I’ll learn, in the meantime I shall be the cautionary tale of glue use when weather is cold.

Glue-ing stones to rings… you have to factor in where that ring has been through. For example hot water, chemicals like bleach and so on. Nevertheless you are correct when it comes to the snooker cue, vibration and impact also determines which glue is good for situation

no, I have not done a test, but I have used both before. Since posting this video, I received a number of email suggestions. I am thinking that perhaps I will take the winner of this one and redo another test with all of the suggestions. So, I am in the process of collecting suggestions. I was surprised by the results shown on the weigh scale! That was the fun part.

the two part epoxy works and fabric glue supposed to work. I think it would be good to purchase and try it out. There are factors such as the density of the fabric weave. Other than the Gorilla glue, the others are inexpensive and you can find them at your craft store. I'd love to know how it works out if you finally get a change to try it.

There is a little plastic piece that you take off the 2 epoxy glue, it’s the same piece you use as a lid to close the openings after you use it. You shouldn’t have tossed it. It’s the piece in between the two plungers
