The Series 2017A $1 A-B block was also extremely short printed for a non-star block (6.4 million notes printed) so it's probably going to appreciate in value significantly.

Well that's great to know. I'm sure my kids will look forward to reeking those benefits 😅😊😅. I'm familiar with Blocks in the realm of numismatics, but I haven't immersed myself into knowing that much about them. I'm sure it's a quick reference, but I feel that's really getting into the weeds of numismatics. Maybe one day I'll get that involved into the hobby. But as of now I'm really just a novice and taking it all in as I go. Thanks for the input and the support of the channel. Talk to you soon...

It's PCGS and PMG is Paper Money Guaranty. I just the other day received my notes back from PMG. It's really hard to get a 70. The bill has to be absolutely perfect. No wet ink transfer, the seals & serial numbers must be clean and crisp. I can see some of the ONE from the back to the left of George, that might knock you down a point or two. You might get a 68 on that one. All the notes I sent in had errors associated with them. I personally don't think it's worth sending in a modern note to get graded just to take a chance on getting a high grade. I sent in 6 notes, 4 got the 'ERROR' designation, one didn't and one they didn't grade. I'm pretty sure they were uncertain what to do with it. So, I'm at the bank today and one of the teller's ask me if I wanted any two-dollar bills. They know I'm a collector. I said sure I'll take them. One was a 1953-A red seal. It's pretty beat up but still, I'll take it. The other two I'll spend.

Hey brother. Thanks for correcting me regarding the Grading company's. That's pretty awesome that you just received your notes back from being graded. What notes did you have graded? What were their grades? And what errors got the designation? I'm not sure if I would ever send any notes in to be graded. I'm just getting to the point where I'm deciding to purchase graded notes. I'm going to dedicate an episode to the subject one day. Aiight brother. I will speak with you soon...

@@legaltender1980 Graded Notes; 1) 1963 $1, Choice Extremely Fine 45 EPQ. The word Series & the date 1963 are into the leaves. They did not note this as an error. Don't know why? 2) 1969D $1, Choice Very Fine 35, Misalignment Error. 3) 1995 $1, Very Fine 25 EPQ. #295 error. The 295 is the back plate no., it's the wrong size. 4) 1935 $1, Very Fine 30 EPQ. Fold Over Error 5) 2017 $1, Very Fine 25 EPQ. Solid Star Error 6) 2009A $100, They did not grade this one. It has what's called a solvent smear, I guess they either didn't agree with me, or they thought it was damage.

Oh wow. Those sound like some solid notes. I think the 1963 would've done it for me. Since that was the debut of the $1 Federal Reserve Note, but all strong sounding notes. Question for you. Why did you decide to have your notes graded? How much does it cost to have a note graded? Does the price change based on the denomination?

It's pretty close. Grades actually go down to 1. However, most people will not bother with anything less than 4 (sometimes 3 if the note is rare to begin with like a Colonial), I sometimes buy them as Culls, for when I just want a budget example of a note. However, with modern (to me, 21st Century) notes, it really is best to seek them in the highest grade possible, sometimes I keep any example as a space filler, like my 2021 Minneapolis.

C.O.T.C good morning to you brother. Thanks for your insight and continued support of the channel. So you do think the 2017A Federal Reserve Bank A is a high 60 grade note. I do not have any graded notes as of yet, but I will purchase some in the future. Do you have any Graded notes? If so what is your highest grade?

Didn't really watch the video this morning, just had it on while getting ready for work. Will check it after I get home for the evening. I don't have any graded at this time, but, definitely going to add some to the collection eventually, maybe even get some of mine graded.

For modern notes, they are very merciless when grading them. From watching on my phone, I would estimate that the absolute best that they would give you for that note is a 63. However, with the wet ink transfer, and the corners having slight wear, I believe that it would get a 60 from a grader. As Stuplubak has said before, anything above a 60 is uncirculated, but from that point, they are looking for perfection in alignment, perfection in the actual printing process, nothing at all to distract with eye appeal. For a 70, I am pretty sure that they pull out the microscope and a measuring device that can measure fractions of a millimeter to be sure that the border is perfect. My personal opinion, that A note is still spectacular, and worth hanging onto, unless you come across one from a fresh bank strap.

@collectingonthecheap56353 dang brother that is a very astute assessment. I thought the transparency of the note was working in my favor. To be %100 honest the top left corner does look a little dinged. I'm going to keep my hands on it. I'm not sure about getting it graded though...
