This video was really well done and thorough. I currently have a s9+ and have an s22+ on order. Blackweb by Walmart had my go to screen protectors for my s9+. They stopped selling/making them and I bought all the ones I could get my hands on. Looking at them now, they're .6mm thick! I have yet to find many manufacturers that even offer that dimension and if they do, its a fraction of what I'm used to and I have chronic butterfingers! I'm going to try the Younique because it comes with the camera protection and get the Caseology too because I like the anti glare. This must have been a huge undertaking and your efforts are appreciated!

Hi. I just want to point out that the drop shatter test is meaningless. Because in real life the kinetic energy will be transferred from the screen protector to the phone screen. So in some cases you may want the screen protector to break, so it absorbs the all the impact instead of transferring it. So next time maybe use glass underneath it as a sample test?

personally i appreciate it. clearly it shows the integrity of build quality. the ones that crack on 2nd drop are the type you'd find at dollar stores. so why pay 9.99 for 1 if you can get it for a buck. also iv had glass crack like this many times. quite unexpectedly.

I disagree, I have dropped my phone on a rock with a tempered glass protector and it actually saved my phone screen. The protector was shattered to bits but my phone screen looked brand new

Decided to go with the AMfilm Hybrid. I'm very light with my phone's and just need something to protect it from light scratches and this seems to do that and it feels like glass. It seems like most of the tempered glass struggle with sensitivity and fingerprint reading

I wish I had found this video before I bought the Spigen Glastr EZ fit. It went on perfectly and feels good but as you demonstrated, the fingerprint sensor doesn't work. I actually was able to register a print but it only works about 20% of the time.... I ordered a Caseology screen protector based off your review and the fingerprint sensor isn't working reliably even with the sensitivity turned on for me...

Thank you for this guide. It might be helpful to add a variable in your recommendations for cost to performance since you are able to measure quality with drop and scratch test. Also, it would be nice to see if you could test any screen protectors that cover the front camera to see if image quality suffers

Thank you for doing such a in depth video! I'm probably going to try and get the UAG or caseology one since i much prefer the ones with no cutout for the front camera (it just looks and feels cleaner and i never notice any difference in picture quality) I originally bought the Spigen glass one as it came in a bundle with the case from my local retailer, but as you tested I've been having so many problems with the fingerprint sensor not working, you have to be dead accurate to where you put your finger and you have to hold down quite hard for it to work its quite unfortunate since i thought it would be much better than some considering its Spigen.

@HighTechCheck According to your video UAG glass shield covers the camera hole too which I am looking for. It also has the plastic application guide thingy to place on the phone before applying the protector. I am not great at applying screen protectors. They will have too much bubbles and dust after application. Will the UAG glass shield be different? Side note: how does the UAG glass shield hold up against very very minor dings and scratches?

dome glass uv glue is probably the best one. has the best chance for your fingerprint reader to keep working. ive been using dome glass since Note 10 and no reason not to use it again for my s22. kudos to Whitestone for trying to make the install process as easy as possible.

Very helpful. So hard to find real reviews of what works with the fingerprint sensor. Unfortunately, most of these aren't available in Canada yet, so probably UniqueMe for me. One suggestion for the drop test...if you put a piece of glass (eg. A cheap glass protector) underneath, we could get an idea of how the screen protector protects the screen itself. I'm ok if the protector cracks and disappates the force so the screen is fine, but maybe some would be the opposite?

You should give a first screen protector at least 12 hour. The bubbles would dissapear. As for scratches it has some self healing capabilities so it is aging quite well although deeper mark will be visible. Same type of screen protector Samsung made for s10. Probably because it is thin and works well with fingerprint sensors.

Great in-depth video, I bought a well rated screen protector on Amazon and it was terrible, I wish I had seen this first. In the end I went for an official Samsung protector and so far its very good, its a film type sceen so I am am not sure how long the protector will stay mark free, i will certainly look at the guide again when i have to replace the Sammy one.

I use a Marsclimber case, treat the glass with liquipel, then put TPU protection on 24 hours later. Combine this with insurance for 4 layers of protection. My experience says this is the safest method, as safe as a 3 lb Otterbox.

Yeah, the wet application I do not understand. I used this one from Armor Suit for my Pixel 6 Pro an I requested a refund and sent it back. It was terrible and peeled off and had that ripple effect. I can see why it had so many positive reviews was that if you left a review they would send you an amazon gift card that pretty much paid for the product itself

I have the Spigen GlastR Ez Fit screen protector on my S22+ The fingerprint unlocking for me does work, but I have found that it is not as responsive or accurate as it was without the screenprotector, and you need to press your finger down firmer for it to unlock. I might end up buying a film screen protector, maybe the Amfilm or Whitedome

@@aussiesul no issues fits well. For the screen protector... the tab you pull off after squeegeeing was off center, so I had to position it carefully with the guide. I might have gotten lucky positioning because it came out good, but very off center to the point where the holes didn't line up with the guide. As for the phone case, it seems a tad cheap out of the box but once it's on the phone it definitely feels durable. The only complaint I have is that the phone case is hard to get off.. A tip... the commuter case from otterbox comes apart into 2 pieces. Put the soft rubber piece on your phone first and then put the harder shell on after. It was extremely hard to put it on all at once.

@Meadow I finally got it, and unfortunately the fingerprint sensor does not work well at all. I have it set to face recognition for now until I can find a better protector. It's a shame because it went on so easy and feels so nice. No bubbles at all.

I'd I had the green S22 I probably wouldn't like that it tints the whole bump. It actually looks cool tinted on the green, but if you're using the case it doesn't matter.

I got the Spigen one had some issues with the finger print scanner aswell . After a few hours works perfectly fine without re-scanning my finger . Strange but atleast works. (S22 )

I trick I read is to exhale on your finger when trying to set it up for scanning. I was able to scan my full fingertip that way after applying the tempered glass. Of course it still only worked 50% of the time....

Thanks for doing this since most are for the Ultra. I ended up getting the UniqueMe Glass Screen Protector. It's very smooth and responsive unfortunately the fingerprint sensor isn't working with it very well. I was able to get the fingerprints rescanned with some work but now it rarely reads them. Its too much hassle to try to return it so I will be keeping it. Just sharing my experience for anyone thinking about this one.

I'm going for the UAG glass shield. Based on my phone choice which is Samsung S22. 4 reasons. 1. It has no camera hole which gives a seamless look 2. It's glass. 3. It has this plastic application guide to help you apply the protector so it won't be misaligned. 4. I have the UAG plasma case for the S22. Which means compatibility. I dont have to worry about the protector lifting off the screen while the phone is in the case. Idk bout you tho.

I spent a lot of time here and looking at reviews on Amazon. Sadly the fingerprint reader reviews on Amazon seem to conflict with what you indicated here for these glass protectors and most glass protectors except for the overly complicated glued on one which I'm not willing to take the chance that they ruin my new phone. I bought an Amfilm glass protector that professes to work with the fingerprint reader but it didn't at all for either protector that came with the set. So it's clear that most of the manufacturers are lying about fingerprint reader impact. I don't want a plastic protector since they're never as clear or sturdy as glass protectors. I'm left frustrated and perplexed. Could you do a more thorough review on effect on fingerprint readers. I'd be really happy to find one regular glass protector that actually works with the fingerprint reader.

Hi John. How did you resolve this problem? Experienced the same. Decided to go with amfilm hybrid. I know it wont be as durable as a real glass protector but not being able to use the fingerprint scanner is not acceptable in my opinion.

Costco now sells Madico Protector Pro Ultra 2 cut-to-order very high quality flexible film protectors that are much better than other plastic stuff out there. It has high clarity and firmness and the fingerprint scanner works great. And it has the feeling of the original glass - not overly slippery like the glass protector I tried and has no glare or bulk like the glass protectors. I did not get the matte version and it's low glare and high clarity. They install it for you perfectly at the Costco cellphone kiosk with no bubbles. It costed just over $26 with tax. Turns out the Costco protector doesn't hold up. It gets dirt under it near the front camera and gets wavy within 2 months. I took it back and bought a Panzer Glass protector which is high quality but the fingerprint reader rarely works. Sigh. Guess I'll have to get used to typing in a PIN.

If you're worried about compatibility, get the UAG glass shield. No worries about protector lifting off the screen while in the case.

How does the impact test work with it not on the phone's screen? Try dropping the ball on the protector while it's on the phone. Dropping a blunt object on the protector backed with metal is far different than the weight of the phone falling screen down onto a hard uneven surface,such as gravel.

With the screen protectors that work with the fingerprint scanner can you just tap your finger on the fingerprint scanner and it would read it or do you have to press down like a button for the fingerprint scanner to read your fingerprint?
