Hello there! Yahoo!! You are so close to 1K!!! 😁 Great info. Most of my tanks are dirted and sand capped BUT my healthiest tank is actually a tank with a gravel substrate. I started using sand over time as I LOVE having Corydoras in my tanks. I think they are happier on the sand, but have not asked them yet 😉 🤣
I have used amazonia substrate as only substrate in my nano tank with dragon stones and anubias pintos, the anubias does great, no fish no shrimps and a hang on filter and I change 1g water every two days, is that ok?! Or should I reduce the substrate by half, cover it with ada sand and this to reduce amonia?
Its a huge pain in the ass to wash the sand that I take from local river. With that I decided to sift the sand to get the small gravel. Its a personal preference, but I'm against buying those expensive cosmetic sand on the market.
In my next setup i think im gonna try an equal mix of gravel, course sand and fine sand. I think I’d like the look of it, and think it would work pretty well.. I only have glass tanks though.. was is scratching the acrylic?
The sand grains get caught in the cleaning pads and I end up scouring thd acrylic. It also made the bottom line hazy. I had gravel for years and no issue…..switched to araganite sand and I noticed the hazing within a few months. @@GingerFishyOfficial
I am setting up a brandy stinking new “Clear For Life” acrylic 45S. It’s the same foot print as a standard 55 gallon but only 17 inches tall. I have 25 lbs of Spectrastone small black gravel going in. Nothing scratchy in this new tank………@@GingerFishyOfficial
Great video dude We’ve used em both and like em both depending on what kind of design we are doing…. We’ve also used other things like lava rock or shells or mixtures of these things…. 🏝🏝🪨🪨😀😀👍👍
Yeah, I like to try different stuff, and find I go through different phases, but definitely on a gravel kick at the moment! Hope alls with you guys!!! 😊👍🌱
