@@aircavmedic oh heck yeah! It's a collecting thing. That's all. If you are rich, you get to do that and pick anything you want to collect, lol. It was great.
Been collecting knives for 20 years. If you're interested in the buck 110 Auto it's a great knife if your going to carry it in a sheath, it cannot stand the smallest amount of debris, if you carry it in your pocket it will gather pocket lint, dust, dirt etc and it will jam. Solid knife if you're going to carry it in a sheath.
@@johncamp7679, I have carried a Benchmade CLA everyday for almost 7 years now. It's a great knife, and autos are very convenient. I use it at least a couple times a week.
Automatic knives are good for the soul. Like when you're really stressed out, you can just open them and close them over and over, and you start to feel better. They're kind of like fidget spinners.
Haha i taught i was the only one 😁 Dude i am literally addicted to open and closing the blade in and out, it feels so good and satisfying and is a stress killer. I have mine on me all the time, even when i walk i can take it out sometimes because i have the urge to push the blade out!
@@wilfdarr Yeah, nothing like the good old First New World Shithole State 👌. And if you wanna see what Sleepy and Chavala plan to make the rest of YOUR country like just take a drive thru the tent cities in good ole Lost Angeles (but note you won't find them in the tiny pocketed six figured socialist or credit card hippie area's because LAPD was ordered to chase them out of those area's and fake news couldn't hide it. 👍).
Big problem with the pentagon knife, I've seen videos about it and it appears to damage its edge on the way in and out because it hits the sides. And it has been known to fail decently often.
I watched this video for no reason other than wanting to know what a switchblade is, I'm not in the market for one and I don't really care about them yet somehow this guy made it entertaining enough for me to watch the entire video. Now that's good content creation
The worst thing about most "budget" knives is that the damn screws always strip out and vanish, talk about a pain in the ass that leaves you feeling naked because if you don't have another knife on hand to immediately replace it. I say this about budget knives because that is the world I am in.
Take the knife apart when you get it and put some red loctite on the screws. They'll NEVER come out unless you use a torch. I carry an old Schrade I got as an EMT and if I lose it so be it, cost 40 bucks 15 years ago so no big loss.
Glad that I'm not the only blade nut that feels naked in places like airports and courthouses (illegal to carry plus extremely high security and detection measures).
In Finland the Law prohibits you from carrying ANYTHING in the public that can be used to harm your follow man, lets say you have a SAK on you, and for some, whatever reason, the police stop and search you and find it, they will ask you why you have it, and depending on the reason they can, confiscate it and write you a fine, they can confiscate it and NOT write you a fine, they can let you keep it and NOT write a fine. The most likely option being to confiscate and NOT write a fine. Nevertheless, dont really want to invest in a NICE TOOL when its a real possibility you can get it confiscated and fined. Such a shame. Enjoy your freedom to carry TOOLS 🙂 Also, the most serious violence in Finland is committed with knives, like the criminally minded would care about the law! So stupid.
People allow themselves to be degraded and have their rights and privileges rescinded by politicians and bureaucrats. In a democracy, there is no excuse for it. .
Sounds legit. Shame about all the old people that need a cane to walk. Or people with a glass drink bottle. Oh, wait, fists. Well amputation is always an option;).
In the UK we have not been allowed flick-knives since, I think,1958, so it is interesting to see what is being made nowadays. I do question how robust some of these are, particularly the OTF, will it bend if you hit bone ? For looks nothing beats a really big traditional Italian stilletto, in my opinion, that is !
@@CrimeVid It is disgusting that the nation that gave the world "the charge of the light brigade" should outlaw so many forms of simple pocket knives . I am sad that the Brit voters have permitted themselves to be so reduced to juvenile status.
Awesome video sir! Many may not care but I truly appreciated the price inclusions in this video. Not sure how this vid blessed my feed, but definitely sub’d!
I remember being a kid and playing with a double edge switchblade my uncle (a cop) gave to me and my brothers. We thought it was the coolest thing but my mom did not lol
Lol right I wasn't even looking up knives I just cane across this video and was like oh automatic knives cool almost 500 dollars later I guess I'm now a knife collector lol well I haven't received it yet but I went with a micro tech otf
Still not sure how Benchmade gets away with charging so much for S30V and D2 when you can get a far better knife/better steel/better attention to detail (Microtech) for less.
I have the Buck 110 Hunter and I dearly love it. I practically had to sign my life away and promise my first born son to buy it, but that was a few years ago. Last year a couple of guys who hunt on my land gave me a S&W M&P OTF knife. It's very nice, but I still prefer my Buck.
Couldn’t agree more. I’ve yet to find a sharper, better built knife then my 110 Buck. I recently updated to the automatic version and in love is an understatement.
I've had Buck knives for a better part of 50 years and have always loved them. My favorite and unmatched is my 122 filet Buck knife. Fileting Bluegills is an art and this knife is the best. Im anxious to aquire one of these 'switch' blade Bucks. Had no idea they were available. Thanks for your opinions!
The Hogue (Sig) Compound & Scorpion 3.5s are absolute perfection and highly underrated. I’m 44 & been collecting for 25 years with over 200 knives and these things are worth every penny. Consider it an heirloom to hand down to your son or someone.
I'm handicapped so I was able to carry an auto before the laws relaxed. That being said, I've had a Cobratec stiletto for years with a lifetime warranty and I love it. I didn't see any in this list and there really should be.
They are by far one of the best otf's especially because of the action. They are built well with good materials. The only reason i can think is they haven't been out for very long and they don't have the amount of choices of other companies. Like colors, style, blade material. Just recently they have come out with a smaller size and larger size, but still only in basic color and blade shape. By far my favorite otf for sure is gaurdian tactical recon 35. Best otf for edc.
@@nix4644 Oh yeah! I forgot, he can't fight his own battles on social media anymore. He has to get his loyal dullards to try and do it for him... and fail!🤣👌
I got a 06 Auto issued to me in the Corps. It's a beast plane and simple. You can't break it. The action is slow and you have to clean it every now and then. A drop of oil speeds it up.
A lot of nice ones there but most are overpriced. When I purchase a knife I'm looking at the steel the blade is made out of and not the opening mechanism built into the knife. Hopefully the laws loosen up a little more in the future and the prices come down. I can remember as a teen the only way to buy an automatic legally was in kit form and assembling the knife yourself. Anybody remember 'The Edge Company' ?
You know the only place I see knives with these prices are on YT!!!😂 Not even Bass Pro Shop or Cabella’s have these prices!!!🤣 Also, I can guarantee you that no first responders gonna want to be carrying a $500 knife!!!😝🥴😳💩💩💩👍
I love how they say "this one's $700, it comes with this MONEY CLIP". And people actually buy it. They spend probably $20 if that, to make the damn thing and then sell it to us for an arm and a nut.
I would definitely be in a “meltdown mode” especially for a F’n knife that cost as much as my favorite snubnose S&W 38 spl #442/642 for the same price so this Benchmade better be poppin’!#infidel#myOTF#Favorite
@@johnclary8518 I don't think he meant that in that way, man. He called him chonky, because DCA refers to himself as hefty in a good way in this video.
More moving parts...more potential for malfunction. This goes for guns too. At least, thats how I MYSELF see it. I've dropped an OTF / Microtech (when they first came out) from about 4 feet...it broke ! Something internal just snapped or cracked. I gave it to a friend, "if u can get it fixed, u can keep it buddy" . No word on what happened
So, what’s a switchblade? I mean, what is it really? Is it a must-have accessory? Is it a thing that can help to survive even the hardest of all hard times? Maybe. Just make sure you are 100% positive at all times (!) that your wife is fine knowing that you have one of these fidgety things. •Pro-Tip™: Fidgeting helps against feeling too lonely. It was a godsend when my wife kicked me out of her own house for “acting kinda weird around my favorite switchblade”.
@@JohnnyYeTaecanUktena Yea, but some of these are flirting with the price of a high quality handgun, something like Glock, CZ or Sig. Certainly with a quality budget 9mm like a Taurus or Canick.
Like I'm gonna spend 450-500 dollars on a knife lol. Especially that 400+ dollar piece of crap you have to manually reset. I'll stick with my 40 dollar Lightning OTF that works like a champ after thousands and thousands of actuations over 3 years. Dropped in mud and dirt countless times at work, blasted through stucco and drywall... forget those 500 dollar letter openers lol
I owned my one and only (Microtech) OTF in 2016. At first it was really cool to see, hear and feel how fast the blade shoots out and in, but the novelty wore off after carrying it a very short time. In my opinion, far too many compromises are made to make that blade action possible, and for that reason I found OTF's to be a fundamentally poor EDC option. The front of any OTF is a permanently open cavity, and it doesn't take long for pocket lint and debris to easily enter, accumulate, and then foul the knife's blade and internals. If you're looking at OTF's for the first time and have never used one before, be aware that even the best, perfectly clean and properly oiled switch mechanisms require considerable hand effort to deploy and retract the blade. Open and close any liner/frame/axis/button locking folder 100 times in a row and there's zero strain on your hand or fingers. But trying to deploy and retract any OTF just 20 times in a row becomes difficult before you get to 10, and will seriously fatigue your hand and wrist and quickly cause a thumb sore. I also never liked the universally rectangular, boxy and plain looking handles of OTF knives compared to the endless variation of handle materials, designs and curves of a standard folder handle. And I'm glad DCA addressed the blade wiggle on an OTF. A deployed and locked blade should never move or wiggle, and the blade wiggle on an OTF is so pronounced and noticeable that's it's more accurate to call it blade slop. But worst of all, these drawbacks come with a very expensive price tag. I much prefer carrying and collecting a standard flipper/ thumb stud or assisted folding knife with a rock solid blade lock.
I miss my multicam 06 auto. Mine was stolen by a Kentucky sheriffs officer along with another $1800 worth of various items including a Benchmade auto out of my truck last year.....
I'm surprised the Boker Kalashnikov didn't make the list. Its an awesome automatic for very little money. I do however wish to own a Microtech one day.
Living in California is the worst.. we don't have our constitutional right to anything neat for knives or guns. Look at the amount of car jackings in say Texas.. its like 5% of what California is and they have open carry and very relaxed laws around both guns and knives. History has shown, prohibition in any capacity will never work. There's my rant for the day! lol.
@@garyrichardbastian8937 A swing-guard is a lock-back type stiletto where the little cross-guard is held flat against the side until the blade is deployed and it swings into position. You may have seen Case make a manual version called the Cheetah. Yes, the standard of manufacture nowadays is just incredible.
You guys talk like we gonna use a 200 300 400 500 to cut something or chop wood... just collecting item... they just take a cheap metals and make it worth millions...
Crazy good video, you don’t talk too slow or fast. You have good knowledge and info, you shared the prices and had enjoyable insights. I wish all reviewers took notes from you. Keep up the good work. 👍
It amazes me how many men don't carry a knife! It is an essential everyday tool, if I forget mine when I leave the house I want to kick myself. I conceal carry so it's not something that I reach for defensively. But that's how important a knife is, those who don't carry one always find themselves in need of one. When you need one and you don't have one you look like an idiot, LOL!
A switchblade is a kind of knife that is completely verboten where I am living. By the way - it is the land where the word "verboten" comes from. I don't think this is a coincidence.
Micro tech if the knife needs to be serviced forget about it their customer service is THE WORST STAY AWAY FROM MICRO TECH they look good bit break alot !!!!
For those who like these knives but are intimidated by the high prices, try checking an army surplus. They will often times sell knives just like these for an extremely low price. I bought a Benchmade "Infidel" like the one featured in this video for $65 last summer, brand new and still sealed in its original box from the factory, from the military surplus store near my house.
The Benchmade auto triage is my favorite knife I own but the seatbelt/fabric cutter starter auto deploying in my pocket from a broken release lever. It's a MIM part easy to break. I also have the exocet and love that knife!
I hate the fact that I am the most Indecisive person I know. I have so much trouble choosing what I like the most especially when they are all freaking Nice.
I have a couple Boker Kalashnikovs. For $40, they are wonderful. Launch 5(2), 7, and 8. The 7 came open in my pocket and cut the crap out of my pinkie. It doesn't get carried. The 8 is flimsy, but really makes me think of Bennie and the Jets. My first was a Hogue EX-AO5. That's a keeper. The SOG looks intriguing. You should have a buy one get one free sale.
Agreed, the Boker Kalishnikov is the best value budget auto knife out there. I have 3 of them. My EDC Boker has been with me for 3 years now. Would love to own the Buck 110 but doesn't fit my budget. Hard to find any auto knives over the counter. They are legal in most states now. Some states have made the dagger double edge autos illegal.
@@Goofiest_goober838 I have a Model C on order and I have actually heard that in some cases, it has underperfomed compared to other Hawk knives. I own a handful of other Hawk models and they are all excellently built. This includes the Model B Deadlock. It is unreservedly excellent. I highly recommend it as long as the price works for you. For me, the prices of Hawk Knives are right on the edge of affordability and are the most expensive knives I own.
No matter what kind of knife you choose to carry remember this: "Never stab, always slice." "Slice you'll likely go home, stab you'll likely go to jail." Why? Because slicing is usually viewed as a "defensive" action while stabbing is usually viewed as an attack.
Great review! I just purchased a Kershaw Launch 1 for just around $100.00. Great deal. Three others I would recommend Are the Kershaw Launch 6, the Protech Half breed, and the Boker Plus Falcon D2, all right around $100.00.
DCA, you're a gentleman, and a distinguished diplomatic ambassador of goodwill representing the Knife community. At 23:30 you eloquently put into words the "funny genre" we gun, knife, and whiskey lovers in this state must deal with. However we just say, "Commiefornia sucks." Haha 😆 🤘 Keep up the good work!
I haven't handled a Launch since I bought my Launch 2 when they first started coming out, but have they fixed the overpowered springs in them? My launch always opens and hits the stop pin so hard that it bounces past the lock and ends up in a half open position.
