The basic takeaway is that walls, floors, and foundations do not block the AI actors currently, they are able to clip glitch through thin surface barriers. The only reliable way to stop them is thick barriers (like spikes, barbed wire) that reject the clipping, or doubling up your thin barriers with small gaps in between that cant be occupied, which also rejects clipping through (offset barricades, layered defense walls with small gaps between, or built structures on the inside of walls). If you build in the water, you need to place barricades or spikes on the outside of foundations to fully prevent glitching through, at least until the devs fix this issue. Enjoyed the video, thanks!
This is why I built on the island they cant glitch through rock lol. I built gaped layers of foundations around the island that they can jump onto but don't live long enough to work out how to jump off onto the next layer. Got heavy machine guns covering 4 sides, works well.

I love Sunkenland mostly cuz their building section is so easy to use. No 100% fit is needed, just put them up as good as you can, and it works, no bs with fitting parts to parts. Sharks is my main problem. I can bite them sadly they bite me first. They have really made a good game, and I LOVE the sounds in the game. Most pleased with your video. Keep up the good work and keep them coming.
Lesson #1: If you don't want your base destroyed, don't fight at your base. Build a combat box in the water somewhere and when they're due to attack, go there and wait. Put a bed in, fire bowl for heat / light, roof access and you're set. 2x2 is fine. Lesson #2: See lesson #1. I haven't lost a single base wall (or any other part of it) yet doing this and have killed every wave against me. When I am out diving on sites, I setup a 2x2 box with a tank refill station, bed, storage, fire bowl and dive away. If they attack, they will attack where ever you are. When they're in the water, you can use the iron spear to kill them all from under water. No ammo needed. Easy peasey, lemon squeezy. They aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.
LOL, yeah I hear ya. I've played like that as well. But I just like figuring out all the little quirks in the game. Usually, they attack me when I'm doing a ton of tasks like smelting or building. I've never actually been attacked while I'm off diving yet.
Build a square base (6by6 is more than enough), build another 2-3 rows of foundations around base, place a row (or two) of barbed wire on the edge foundation (leaving a little bit of space so they can climb on a foundation), build windows walls on the second floor. Shoot :)
You can put Wall Spikes in the water at that lower bar level. You can put them on the open side of your foundations too to block out the corners. You can then put a Barbed Wire roll on top of those spike to really slow the invaders down. And for overkill, you can use that Barbed Wire to place the 5000hp Metal Defense Wall.
Yeah I know you can add all that, but I really wanted to figure out how they were glitching through everything. But definitely adding all the barriers will slow them down. I haven't tried adding defense walls on barbed wire. I'll try that tonight. 👍
They usually head for your planters, so put a lot on the jetty to attract them while you shoot them. I also store stuff in crates on another island as a backup, the stuff's still there if they smash the platforms and while they're there they're not destroying your base

LOL, No Kidding.... it's painfully slow I know. If we could just hold the mouse button down it would be a bit better. But yeah I have seen this mentioned to the Devs so I'm sure they have heard about it.
So, I tried allot like you did, and that's the reason why I am up to build a new base in the big hangars on the island in the left down corner. There is just one direction they can get into it. This way I can defend with lots of metal an 50cals
@Oztron, instead of blocking them let them jump into a foundation or 2 all around your base. So basically what you want is to have a clear line of sight so you can shoot them easily. Spam 1 or 2 layers of foundarions around your outer walls so they will jump on those foundations and from your tower you can snipe them confortably and they won't pass your walls unless they break them. Also look into barricades too which are lower and won't block the view. You could spam another 2 layers of foundations around the base then place all around barricades (half walls) in between those 2 foundations and then snipe your enemies way easier. In my opinion a good base is all about line of sight from your tall middle tower. :)
Interesting vid, seems most of the defense structures we havee are rather useless (spikes etc), unless you stack a ton of them up (walls on barb wire on spikes etc), which is both time consuming, resource heavy and annoying to repair. You mentioned thee AI doesn't seem to interact much with the stairs, peerhaps you can better block areas with the stairs facing down into the water? example - /I-I (though then they might just walk up the stairs I guess, might be able tobuild it so you have the stairs going down into the water covering the foundations - combined with the upwards stairs to block them from going up the stairs/jumping)
Yeah, you're absolutely right on the barriers they are too expensive to have to repair or replace after every attack. They do work... just cost too much. But like you mentioned about the stairs, I talked about that in the previous video, and show a good example of the stairs working in the video after this one. Do you think by making your base impenetrable you are forcing the AI to cheat? Have you tried making a snaking trap filled area into your base that is open to them? I'm thinking citadel defensive structures.
Yeah, I've noticed that they only walk through them if you put them on land directly. But if they are on a foundation, they do not seem to be able to walk through them.
I don't know myself. Just bought the game. And the first night I was raided. It's pitch black, I can't see anything had nothing just a few walls and a few wood foundations and was killed over and over and over till I quit. All i had was a stone axe and a stick spear which seem to do nothing. Then I thought well maybe this was a bug of some sort so restarted fresh and same thing. Why are there no solid foundations like stone that can be used on land at least ? " I finally just so I could play the game shut off being raided. " This is a real game breaker to me if you can't protect yourself and what you build much less their instant raiding. I like a Challenge but that is beyond a challenge. The glitching needs to be addressed, as well as the NPCs being able to shoot you through solid rock and other materials which you cannot do. And another thing is why oh why can't you build a fire to warm yourself by ? This Should be 101 in Survival from the start of the game. When all you have is nothing but a few sticks and not much else really. You should be able to at least throw down a torch and it lights a bit of the area or hang a torch up and it warms you to, it is after is after all suppose to be on Fire. There are a lot of things they could do to make it so new players to the game at least have a chance till they know the games mechanics somewhat. Let's not talk about the sharks. Well maybe a little.................................... I play a lot of these games and an old gamer. And Stranded Deep and several other games have sharks and yes they are a chore to take down, great eating but you can dodge them I haven't been able to dodge these sharks they just hit you once and you're dead. Even though I need a sharkskin to do something in the game can't even kill one with a metal spear. Yeah now they need two bites to kill me but they still do. Guess i'm stubborn I keep going back, they keep laughing as they zoom by and chomp on me. Maybe they need to put in spearguns and shark sticks in this game. Seems they have a lot of work to make this game a bit more balanced. Hope they do, i like the game. And by the way a Spear gun is nothing but a Crossbow. Really you can't shoot a crossbow underwater ? We use Crossbows for all kinds of hunting Including Fishing here in the Central US. And yes you can shoot a crossbow underwater in RL, just not in this game, true you need to be fairly close, but still. Have friends that don't play this game anymore, said it needed a lot of work but I thought I'd give it a try. I agree with them now but will just keep plugging along hoping it gets better. It has Loot Lots of Loot, Yeah I'm and old Fallout player what can i say ..........LOOT
There is so much Fail in this game right now. Stairs and ladders need a Snap Point option, need more building options- net walls/walkways/ladders, pipe railing, nautical items- portholes, hatchways, need floor hatches/trapdoors, need to be able to place walls on foundation supports, interactive furnishings.......I could go on.
Looks like they address some of these issues. Next update is supposed to have a lot more nautical content. Let's hope. It's a good start but needs work of course.
